The oxygen destroyer was a weapon used to kill Godzilla in the first movie I believe. When Godzilla went into triple time he referenced Gidorah, the three headed dragon. Also Iron Man, and Thor also could refer to the elements Iron and Thorium. Godzilla vs Kong came about because they were trying to revive the Godzilla franchise with Godzilla vs Frankenstien and they scrapped it for Kong. Kongs verses hit a lot harder when people realize, most people know of Godzilla, but not the background.

It was supposed to be Kong vs Frankenstein originally. The animator wrote out the script and gave it to the producer, the producer then took the script behind the animators back and gave it to Toho who replaced Frank with Godzilla

I thought the Iron Man and Thor bit was referencing the Destroyer, the sort of sentient suit of armor we see blast lasers out of it's face from Asgard that Iron Man also made a Thorbuster suit out of. But also referencing _Destroyah,_ an antagonist from one of Godzilla's Japanese movies, AND referencing again the Oxygen Destroyer from that first movie you mentioned

@@Jawsjawsjawsrg I figure he's the least entertaining (in my opinion) and least well-known of an already pretty niche show though. It looks to me like a lot for non-Americans have trouble understanding strong southern accents, so that's probably going to limit it to mostly Americans, and then amongst Americans, you've probably also got to have an interest in that comedy genre too. I know him from "Blue Coller Comedy Tour." I'd say members like Jeff Foxworthy and "Larry the Cable Guy" are a lot more well-known for doing their own things aside from that.

Godzilla’s line “Worst Kaiju come back since Pacific Rim 2” works because. In the Pacific Rim series the monsters they battle are Kaiju. Which is what Godzilla and the other monsters seen in the Monsterverse series are.

I love that he kept saying godzilla won then heard kongs next verse and his jaw would drop. I say that godzilla showed off more technical rapping skill with his triplets and sneaking in a haiku, but honestly, kong had some really good shots and excellent rebuttals. That third verse he comes in with a yelled out yawn "AAAANYWAY!" just dismissing godzillas whole verse like it was nothing. I also liked the heres your sign touch because it worked on both levels of the heres your sign joke, being done in sign language, and the audience could finish the line themselves seeing where it was going so it could have triggered some audience participation yelling it out like a catch phrase.

Knox hit just about everything...but he always eon that damn genius. That Jussie Smollett bar throwing every reactor back in their chair. Universal tried to sue Nintendo over Donkey Kong and miserably lost. And the judge forced Universal to pay Nintendo for any legal fees/damages from the process. Also donkey = ass...of course. King Kong-Donkey Kong (Ass Kong) Hollywood cut down the Godzilla movies for US release because of the political unrest btwn US and JPN from Hiroshima. He was more of a threat in the original cuts as "a metaphor for nuclear war" than after "balls left on the cutting room floor" here for release. "talk about the atom...", "come at me with the Iron Man (Iron = Fe on periodic table) and Thor (Thorium = Th on period table)". Science bars in a giant monster battle. "singing digits in triplets like Ghidorah" who is the 3-headed dragon in Godzilla lore.

The line about king kong nursing godzilla films back to health falls flat as ther hasnt been a good king kong movie to date, and the jack black one was terrible, at least the original was ok for its time... whereas godzilla is a cult classic franchise, i personally dont like them but for the time they came out they were good... certain tv shows (and probably movies too) are STILL using the godzilla style. This was an easy godzilla win, the oxygen destroyer lines was probably kongs best bar. The one thing i notice right away was how off the size scale between kong and godzilla was... kong was supposed to be 24 to 28 feet tall, but godzilla is supposed to be about 320 to 420 feet tall, hence the double of "you wouldn't measure up to the shin of godzilla", which was also a godzilla movie (i've not seen it, yet).

Except the line is true....they left Godzilla on the shelf for 7 years and moved on until Kong got added to the mix. It was a huge draw and set up the Mothra crossover, Gihdora's creation and everything that came after.

Kong was supposed to be in Kong vs Frankenstein next, but the producer snuck around behind people's back and gave the script idea to Toho who turned it into Kong vs Godzilla (hence the "substitute for Frankenstein" line from Kong). Also, it's pretty much canon that Kong killed Godzilla in the movie with that being a key plot point of the planned sequel which RKO refused to do. Once that film was successful Toho decided to keep Godzilla around and started adding in the other monsters they created (Mothra, Rodon, etc...) in "Godzilla vs" crossovers to make it a shared universe. Without Kong Godzilla would most likely have just been another footnote of early Japanese Monster movies
