Neither! I've always tried to have the family eat together. Therefore, when dinner is served, we all sit and say a prayer as a family and eat together.

I grew up seeing my father getting served first and my mum dished his meal in separate vessels, meat, rice, ground provision, etc. My father was the provider for our household. I did the same with my husband.

Husband first. Thats how you teach the children to respect him too. My dad always got his plate out for him. After a certain age he kids were left to make our own plates but my mom always made my dad’s plate to this day. They’ve been married 45+ years. The kids aren’t going to die if they wait 3 minutes
