And actually one of my favorite moments to watch is Daniel vs Ivey, Shark Cage final table, heads up. Daniel’s personality coaxes Phil to talk and smile and joke a lot more. Phil has the poker brain we can only dream of. And Daniel isn’t far behind. But these 2 dudes, it’s all love between them. It’s a lot of fun to see them open up and have fun with each other. Hearing Phil say “Thanks, Kid Poker” told everyone what Phil thinks of Daniel (utmost respect).

Phil Ivey is creative, unlike any other. He knows how to make it look like he has something. And he knows how to disguise his hand. Daniel is better at determining others hands though. And of course, there’s his personality.

@dcworld43492 жыл бұрын
@@CalebJNelson Mood does come into it but I could probably watch Daniel all the time. The way I see it when it comes to watching poker, If you want spectacle entertainment you watch Hellmuth. If you want to watch entertaining poker that also has great insight with an ability to both talk and read people without giving things away you watch Daniel. If you want to watch world class poker who interestingly enough is able to be extremely intimidating even though he has such a calm presence about him Ivey all the way. The only problem I have with Ivey and it has nothing to do with me thinking he should change his playing style. It's just that besides the very occasional fishing that he can do like he did one of the hands here. Watching him play is like watching a very high level math class. Which is why Daniel will always to me be more fun to watch because he is such an extrovert who can liven up a game, and something I think people overlook when it comes to other extroverted players. Daniel is able to use it without and even trick other players without being obnoxious or an A-hole about it. I don't know their names just seen some of the streams recently and the extroverted players act like Hellmuth when he loses except they act that way when they win and wants the losing player to feel like an idiot for the rest of the night. I mean I get wanting to get a player to go on tilt, but you can do that by showing a bluff without resorting to those kinds of tactics. That is one thing Hellmuth is right about, a bad loser is sad to see because it's pathetic, but a bad winner is worse because it just show no class. Not that when Hellmuth has called someone a bad winner he's been right, he's the one who says something that eventually gets a player to shoot a comment back. But the sentiment is still correct. The one exception being when Persson just destroyed Hellmuth, yes technically he was being a bad winner, but how many times have we seen Hellmuth abuse amature players for getting lucky or by "not playing it right" making him not make the correct call or fold.

In the last hand, the commentator said that the 8 doesn’t really change much and that the only hand this really helps is 67 or 89. Dnegs could have easily had J10 of spades. Flopped a flush draw, turned an open ender. You could argue that he would likely raise on the turn, but not always. Point is, that 8 helped more than just those two hands.

Hard question... "Negreanu or Ivey?".. I mean, I think that's a matter of opinon.. I like them both, a lot, but overall I prefer Negreanu. I think he has one thing that makes him unique: small talk. He's the best talker in the world regarding live poker. By far.. The KK folded is an example of it. Phil Evey is more the shark at the table. No small talk, he's there just to wipe your ass off. Negreanu makes your defences go down making you feel good while he's preparing himself to eat you alive exploring weaknesses that you may have shown. I think that takes way more time to work on..

Well, the commentators suggest that he read Doug for Ax, but in truth we don't know what was happening in Phil's head exactly. He might have read him for a lower pair at first, as an example. He represented a bluff after the river, that I can agree with. Much of the commentary is done suggesting what the players might be thinking while we see their cards. The commentators are much less outspoken and smart when they don't see both players' cards. My take is Phil read Doug for a pair or a pair + high kicker / HC and seeing Doug's raise which represented a set thought he had lost. Good bluff from Doug, a nice steal attempt, proper hesitation and mindfuck from Phil, probably once in three or four times Doug would actually have a set in this hand sequence.
