No owners will add rentals with all of these stupid regulations...adding more regulations will dry up whatever rentals you have now. Tenants have all the power and owners can't even get rid of bad ones...stop the regulations and give owners back thier property rights and you'll have more units.

@@Rolandjes37 The local govt have increased the Property Valuation and hence these properties have higher property tax so landlord hv to charge higher rent. And the cost of rental insurance have sky rocketed. Mortgage rate is at around 6.5 % so these rent increase is cause by Govt regulations.

shes clearly to young to relise wether you rent control,subsidise,freeze rents or federally regulate ,or cap rent it ends with landlords walking away from buildings,letting them fall apart,housing wars for those looking to get in on the good deal,tennants wont egt any repairs,the place becomes a slum for the poorest people,and eventually the building is condemned,everyone ends up homeless,queens had tons of abandoned buildings because of this ...the answwer is fix the economy so jobs provide a salary that allows for rent being lower,but all countries that regulate rent end up with people stuck in that place,even if its a slum,and you dont have options,,,,the more you make the better you live,i had to work 2 sometimes 3 jobs when i started out,i moveed up to higher paying jobs etc and own my own home its no diffrent ,you make your life as hard or easy as you choose,you may have to work harder till you get to the easier,roommates or extra jobs,or stay with parents we had to make the same hard choices,so regulation will make it worse regardless of the lies it promises..im speeking from life experience not hearsay better eonomy helps with rent,cost of living,and lets be honest if rent is the issue cut back on the non essentials you need a place to live,not designer clothers bars cellphones[the top of the line] etc 1st get what you need,then you can afford what you want

Here in Florida, there are no laws in place that can prevent a landlord from charging whatever the hell he wants to. My former landlord said to me, "If you don't like the raise in rent....move and I'll find a replacement easily."

Bad policy to control rent, really want to control the rent the right way make corporations have to hold and sit on apartment complexes for 15-20 years that way they don’t get bought and flipped as much, and we still get a free market. That makes the companies have one of 2 choices, they can put the extra money they get from rent into improving apartments or they can expand business. Win win for American people and home owners who rent to people, making them treat the housing market like a business instead of a stock market.

The owners of these complexes and companies are people too, the are just corrupt, so you have to fight the corrupt practices, don’t fight the market. These laws won’t only affect the people who rent out apartments but also their single family homes, there are regular people who have multiple houses to rent out on their own. Rent control would tank them and the only thing they’re doing wrong is trying to compete with the big dogs in a corrupt market. But tanking the whole thing isn’t the answer
