I met Andy a couple years before he blew up when he was visiting a place on Vancouver Island (where I'm from, shout out Shay Sandiford as well!) and we talked local skateboarding for ~20 minutes before his bus arrived and he had to leave. Such an awesome dude, and he won my local contest the year prior to that which is the only reason I recognized him. I am so happy that George Powell was at that contest and has done so much for him, he deserves it. The amount of skateboarding knowledge he has is unreal.

Favorite part is his proud smile and intense focus on the interviewer, like... the interviewer knows the video should be ALL him But Andy leans into the way he talks and is so passionate that it's hard for the interviewer not to laugh or agree or stay quiet

That's always been my thing with him. Skateboarding started to feel so, I don't know... robotic? to me. I can watch Nyjah do a 540 double blah blah whatever down a 20 stair and my brain is just kind of numb to it at this point. I'm like "okay, cool," and I move on with my day. Watching Andy do some of the tricks he does actually engages my brain and makes me want to skate again. Partly because it makes me think and partly because my brain goes "huh... I could probably do that if I practiced enough."

Their brains have this obsessive function toward skateboarding that forces them to propel forward and innovate at all cost. I watched andy skate video where he road to a coffee shop and i remember just thinking if he was there back then he would have said "i need to pop and flip this board".

Wow. This guy seems really cool. I can relate to so much of what he said, too. I was so much more interested in the Dog Town and Z-Boys style of skateboarding when I was younger and was so confused by the fact that nobody else my age seemed to be interested. The skaters I knew were like a "bro" club that I didn't fit into. I wish I knew guys like Rodney Mullen and Andy Anderson growing up because they're both so much more relatable. gotta love him! his attitude is great, he's also the most creative skater I've seen. it seems like he can do anything, big ramps, street, freestyle and he also combines those styles. where other skaters often seem to show off with tricks, that look spectacular (and Andy does those too of course) he often performs smaller scale, weird tricks, that noone else even thinks of. also obviously him wearing a helmet is pure love
