I have to agree that Applebloom is one of the best characters in muffins, and she's honestly my favorite one. She has a lot of potential, especially considering her trauma and grooming done by Pinkie Pie. She only wanted a cutie mark but was put in a horrible situation that she can't go back from, and I think she has more empathy than she realizes.

Man, that last part really hit deep. I always knew Apple Bloom was being groomed by Pinkie, but I never thought how bad it is that she's...stuck. Apple Bloom was manipulated into thinking killing was fun, watched her own mentor slit her throat where she forced to drain Silver Spoon's blood to revive Pinkie because she was told she was "losing herself", killed her own sister, can't leave the bakers cause she's a a now known murderer so her family can't take her in or friends (which were also killed) and doesn't want to leave the only family she has left. Apple Bloom is truly stuck. And it seems no other solution can help her... Also Pinkie Pie in Muffins can eat sh-

I used to believe that their was hope for Apple Bloom for seeing the error of her ways and reforming. But after her role in “The Last Crusade” I am convinced that there is no hope for her anymore. She shows undying loyalty for Pinkie Pie and the remaining bakers. Going as far as to enjoy their sick cruel games and torture tacticts. Whatever innocence that remained within her has fully been erased. And if The Bakers due end up getting caught then I can only see Apple Bloom spending the rest of her life in an institute.

At one point, you could argue Applebloom was the victim here. But shes very much turned into a predator in her own right. Honestly has disturbing parallels to real life cycles of generational trauma and abuse.

after delving a little deeper into Apple Bloom's character, i think i realise just how much of a tragic character she actually is. like, she was fear-mongered into this by one of her sister's closest friends at such a young age, taught that killing other ponies is fun and having it nailed into her head as soon as Pinkie saw a weak point in Apple Bloom's comprehension of what was happening. it wasn't her fault she was manipulated into killing other ponies, she was just a child. Pinkie slowly stripped away every layer of compassion and feelings she has left for ponies, silently whispering to her that they're wrong and that by baking them she's somehow helping the world. she's just a puppet and has been trained to do nothing but bring pain to others because that's all she knows and it's so sad. it's even sadder when you think about her cutie mark and how much getting it meant to her. for her whole fillyhood, she's always wished, dreamed, prayed and wished some more that she'd finally get the mark that shows who she really is and what her true talent would be. now that Apple Bloom has passed her biggest milestone, it ends up meaning absolutely nothing to her in the end because it just shows that she's simply a pawn to Pinkie's endless destruction. she probably feels that she can _never_ get out and free herself because that cutie mark that she once praised and felt immense pride in is now tainted with the realisation that what she did was incredibly fucked up. it's like a stain now. after everything she's done to get out and escape into the real world, Pinkie's snide grin is still imprinted on her, and she still hears that same sickening laugh every time she glances at her flank. i feel like Apple Bloom's cutie mark is kinda like Minkie's in a less literal way, in that it shows that Apple Bloom is locked into her destiny of forever being somepony who hurts and maims. how is she supposed to live in normal pony society when she practically has a sign on her flank subtly saying "hey, i'm a murderer!" and how is she going to explain that to other ponies? if even her cutie mark has already decided her fate, how is anypony else possibly going to treat her any different? should she keep fighting to get better or should she sink back into that mindset and lose herself, spiralling into apathy for others and herself..? i also think it'd be super interesting if Apple Bloom does end up escaping from the bakers, that she doesn't really understand how to socialise with other ponies anymore. she's spent so long spiralling into losing her compassion, empathy and sympathy for others that when she finally gets to talk to another pony, she kinda... can't. she's seen other ponies as just toys to play with and rip apart for so long that she struggles to see them as anything different. she doesn't know what everypony else likes, she's lost her understanding of their social cues, every time someone speaks in a cheery voice she feels like she's being manipulated again, and when she sees a pony who's hurt, she has no idea what to do to help. being a baker stunted her social development as well as her mental state. she feels like a "forever child", always just being a younger pawn to someone else's desires, told that it doesn't matter because she's "just a filly", that she "doesn't know any better". Apple Bloom is such an interesting character to explore and i'm excited to see what you and the fandom do with her character :D

I like how you acknowledged that Apple Bloom is still a child. I could never believe that Apple Bloom was as evil as the creator made her out to be. She was literally a child who was groomed by the adults around her, she wasn't born evil, I feel like she could change if given the chance

6:54 this part is my favorite part of the video since it feels like something Applebloom would think about. I mean before she met Pinkie she did have friends and family that loved her but now, the only person she could rely on was someone who wants her to continue doing harm to others even if she doesn’t want to. She now has a different more twisted family that she ain’t willing to lose because if she did, she’d be alone and think about all the wrong she caused

It would make the most sense in my opinion for her to stay with the bakers? Even if she didnt comprehend what she was doing at first and probably has trauma. A cutie mark isnt really a personality trait per say. Its her special talent. Her destiny technically

This is an awesome rep of applebloom! She is also one of my fave characters from the series, especially since she is a young child going through one of the most horrific things. I kinda relate to her grooming somewhat from Pinkie so I understand what she is going through mentally on some level (I'm not a murderer LMAO). I can't wait to see what you will do with her!

Applebloom honestly always one of the most disturbing characters to me. Groomed into a killing machine- and depending on your personal canon, likely broken beyond repair. (I know there's two-three different Muffin Canons floating out there now, from what I'm aware). Its tragic to think how her story started, yet at the same time recognizing that the innocent filly there once was is long, long gone, and all that's left is a monsterous pony whos been trained to get joy out of others pain.

Okay so I know I'm a bit late, but I rewatch this video every so often and you formatted it and explained it really well. When I first read muffins back in 2018 or early 2019, I always had this thought of 'If I was Apple Bloom, I'd be so scared of getting betrayed and killed'. I was about 14 or 15 at the time and you really do a good job of explaining the grooming part, especially since you're explaining thoughts that I had when I first read it and I'm glad I wasn't the only one who picked up on it. (Though I doubt this was Rei's intentions because I'm aware this story is a fantasy kind of thing more than anything, but I think you show off the whole situation a lot better with this video!)

Now what im wondering is lets say Applebloom DOES get help, shes seperated from the other bakers and she finally understands they're dangerous not just to others, but to her-- She gets therapy and all the help she could get, but.. the issue is-- her cutiemark. It seems her DESTINY is to be a killer, even tho its obvious she doesn't WANT to hurt anyone and she had to be groomed in order for her to become insane-- what would happen to her? Do they keep her locked up? Does she "remove" her mark? Or is it revealed it WASN'T actually her mark and idk, pinkie did some dark magic for her mark to be like that? (Kinda like a puppet to her fame with octavias cutiemark)

I feel that since it has shown (in art of fluttershy and twilight at least) both lost there marks, got duller and both never were the same again, clearly. But let’s say Apple bloom loosing her mark, was her own choice. Like- disavowing her mark, understanding what silver spoon was sawing (like a twisted set of parallels) were silver told her in earnest how much she hated and didn’t want her mark, why it made her unhappy. So I could see it as Apple blooms, rather painful, removal of herself from the bakers and leaving. I don’t think she would put them for a while until the princesses give her an ultimatum, the prisoners dilemma if you will. Offer her sooner freedom if she told them were the bakers were. All of them. This is just an idea of course, I don’t think I’ll be going with it for what I would rather due since I think it would be truest sad and admittingly fun to do something a bit more… intense.

(You dont have to if you dont want to) I didnt read the part where they turn into alicorns but i find it quite silly, how on earth can 4 earth ponies, a pegasus and 2 fillies take down a trained army? I came up with this idea since i've seen how apple boom was slowly turning back to her innocent self in silence of silver and like you mentioned apple boom isn't fully gone, her finally realizing what she did was wrong then turning on the bakers woule be a huge twist tbh

I guess it comes down to your own perspective. Pinkie is 19 currently in the story (18 during the time of Cupcakes) but murderers/villians tend to not know the extant of what they are doing is evil. Most have the best of intentions but with clearly selfish motivation behind it. With Pinkie it's really a toss up weather you want her to have pure intent behind her actions, or unaware. With Pinkies age I can see how she wouldn't know any better, with her sisters clearly already having malicious intrusive thought while Pinkie enacted on those thoughts, thus, Pinkie encouraged her sisters to do the same. I.E Manipulated. And having a poor upbringing, The Pie family didn't stop but flourished in those bad acts. I can see nuance to the discussion. but no I don't think she doing this intentionally and does believe she's caring about apple bloom in a very messed up way.

no. Back in September a friend of mine was in a really bad spot and needed money, so I told my audience that if we raised all the money (We did) I would continue Muffins. And here we are.

You cannot sue someone over this because most of the characters come from Hasbro or the concept of the characters. Its not an orginal idea. With that logic, her story is bad because its just cupcakes but longer. This woman needs a white room and a straight jacket.

I think she really needs to seek help and take a break from the internet if she hasn't already. I'm also still quite concerned about her views regarding age of consent…unrelated but it makes me less easy around her than I’d be otherwise.
