Thanks! I used to practice until my fingers bled🫣💜 (that's what any of this takes.) From when I was barely 4 - & my teacherwould yell at me bc my tiny fingersweren't long enough to stretch the (many) Octaves she wanted me too) &, she would tell me to keep doing these exercises on the piano so that my fingers would reach, one day v soon. A bitpainful tbh, like much of it - you suffer for your Art😶🫣 - & nobody rlly tells you how much, at the beginning (ppl have no idea, if they've not done it - it's no picnic, it's hours each day & it is every day, none missed🤭💜)🙏💜🇬🇧💜🌏💜

I complete agree with you! But the question here is not who is better really ( in my opinion). It's more about who has got more depth and depth. And for me ( all though I have no expertise in this whatsoever ) Kissin has a lot more of his own spirit in it which leads to more depth. While lang ( of course a very gifted and supreme pianist ) has more of a " show " quality to it.

Kissin wins for me...he brings the necessary fire to this piece (it is after all, by Paganini)
@theoredori10 ай бұрын
Fire does not come from pure speed, but from holding back the tension built up over the course of the piece and releasing it at the right time to create an outburst of emotion and fulfilment. Lang Lang does this with perfection here… Not knowing one's highest possible tempo and playing wrong notes because of that is not really great music playing tbh!

It's by Lizst btw, not paganini. Paganini composed the violin version.

Kissin's has impeccably stunning technical skills with crispy tone and clarity. Nevertheless, he follows the Liszt's original directions note by note. Sometimes I feel he is not dare to think out of the box and lacks creativity. The difference: LangLang had his own unique style to perform this piece. Evgeny Kissin performed a very smooth and nearly perfect version of this master piece.
@adam3797 Жыл бұрын
Hate to break it to you, but Kissin’s performance was NOT perfect. Several wrong notes were played during his performance. At the end, he sacrificed precision and accuracy for speed and gusto. Lang Lang’s version was slower, more expressive and articulate, and albeit, a little more boring to take in. There really is no comparing the two of them. Both are incredibly gifted virtuosos, and they equally know how to kick La Campanella’s ass.

@@Jed-bt6rh Yes, I have. Asshole. I own the sheet music, and I’ve also played piano more than 25 years. However, I’m not a professional musician (no money in that line of work). I will admit that La Campanella is way above my skill level as a pianist, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t know how to read the sheet music, nor does it mean that I don’t have a well-trained musical ear. I’ve spent more hours studying, practicing, and playing in front of the occasional audience than you can possibly fathom. So don’t come at me like I’m some novice, when you don’t know shit about me.

Despite the highest technicality of Evgeny, I must admit that Lang Lang performance on December 6, 2022 is more impressive for several reasons: more emotional, more vivid, fuller of different shades and hues. Just close your eyes & listen to his full piece performance 2-3 times & don't look at his face, hands, etc.

Totally based on your style, your taste, your mood. How can we say one is better than the other. Both performances were fabulous and mind blowing. Stormy day I would listen to Kissin, Sunny day I will cool off listening to Lang Lang.

Their technique is different. You cannot “judge” them on this alone. Both are phenomenal pianists. It is solely the interpretation of the piece by the artist. And with this there is a good deal to interpret! Loved them both. My preference is Evgeny… but I have a collection of Lang Lang’s piano concertos on CDs.

Kissin puts loyalty and Platonic fidelity to the score above all else. Lang Lang, a Non-classicist from another continent, seems to be more interested in a heart to heart with the music and the composer. In that he brings life and meaning. He is loyal to his audience always!

Evgeny Kissin is best playing piano because he he interpreted the musical notes better

It's Lang2x for me, it feels like an old times in the Philippines when love is always in the air and people are kind to everyone and children play outside in the fields when its full moon, what a wonderful world, its old times, gone by.

Kissin is of the old style, impeccable, tidy, precise, without too many useless verses, Lang Lang on the other hand is modern and therefore is keen to make a character stand out just as the entertainment business demands nowadays

As the biggest Lang Lang fan in the world I prefer EVGENY’s version. Cleaner and more cohesive while maintaining passion and expression. I love both MAGNIFICENT musicians!!!

Lang Lang just sounded more organised and more insightful in his way of playing therefore he seemed more in control of the piece, while Evgeny Kissin seemed he just about got the piece right...
@whale4304 Жыл бұрын
It does appear Evgeny was playing at a higher tempo though

I thought Kissin was more coherent on the last 2/3rds of the piece.
