I am not Korean, but this is my understanding. When you are born you are already considered to be 1. You gain a year on Jan 1 ( not your birthday) So if you are born on November 12th you are one then. Then you turn two on Jan 1 - even tho you are only technically 6 weeks old. Kinda confusing.

i also learned english by watching tv in my 5th grade. not perfect english but at least i could do conversation easily than any my other friends. its not impossible to mainly english speaker to learn another language.

To answer ur question about age, so in Korea u are born and are considered one year old, then on Korean New Years u are another year. So depending on birthday month, u are either one or two years older than u actually are.

@@amandamalenfant2280 I think they mean that for example, if you are born December 29th of 1998, then you are 1 automatically, and then in new year you are 2, that means that for 1st of January of 1999, you are already 2, but if you are born like January 5th of 1998, you get to live almost a whole year being 1, and then turn 2 in new year. (This is just an example tho, not sure if the korean age goes by this type of calendar), at least that is how I understood it.

This is how they came together..as far as I know(I'm not exactly sure on everything...I'm just going off from what i heard from others many times.) RM (I dont know much) He was the first member to join so that's why he was the leader. He joined from a friend. Jin He was scouted after being seen getting off from a bus. His visuals are what got him scouted. Suga He was told that bts would be a hip hop group and there would be no dancing so he joined. Then he figured out there was dancing so he threatened to quit but he was convinced to stay. Then later he threatened to quit again when he got anxiety for their debut and he thought it wouldnt happen. But he stayed. Jhope He was a street dancer and he auditioned for one of the big company groups in Korea. But sadly he didnt make it but later he joined bts. Jimin He was into contemporary dance. There was a school for contemporary dance that he wanted to get into but he couldn't afford it. But the teacher saw how determined he was and payed the fee for him. Jimin was a top student and later the teacher recommended that he audition for a company so he did for BigHit and he was accepted. Sadly though he only trained for 1 year which is a short training period for idols. That's why he was so insecure about his voice. And it didnt help that when they debuted, their first mv made him known as the "abs" guy and it made him more insecure. He was afraid of disappointing the fans so he worked hard at staying in shape. In their blood sweat and tears era people called him fat and it had a big effect on him. He went on a harsh diet of only 1 meal every ten days. He would often pass out after dance practices. (I know alot of of this because I'm Jimin biased so yep..) V Like Jin he was scouted for his visuals but it was during an audition of his friend. He didnt have permission to audition but the person who scouted him was determined and contacted his parents and got him the permission. Jungkook He was young when he was in a competition for singers. Then many companies heard him singing and wanted him to join their company. But Jungkook saw a video of RM rapping and he decided to join BigHit.

I just wanted to say a couple things: Suga (pronounced like "Sugar" without the "r") is more quiet than grumpy. The video seemed to paint him that way, but those aren't his true colors. He's actually aloof and funny. He really tries to entertain the viewers and protects fans, just as each member does in their own way. He's also literally one of the fastest rappers in the world. RM is also a pretty funny guy! Please don't call him "Rap Monster" though. He regrets calling himself that and changed his name to "RM", which stand for "Real Me". He's known as the "God of Destruction" since he tends to break things easily. However, he happens to have an IQ of 148 and is one of the fasted rappers in Kpop, along with Suga. Jin tends to not use a lot of his "Older Brother Powers", which I noticed was something you missed in this vid. He hangs out with the Maknae (or youngest) line (Jimin, V, Jungkook) a lot and is good at being the mood maker. He's basically the main character of the BTS MV storyline, however, I will not tell you why. That should be something you find. You almost pronounced Jungkook's name right. "Kook" should be pronounced the same way as "Cook". J-Hope is also what can best be described as emotional when it comes to rapping. I don't mean he sobs all the time, but he seems to rap in a way that fits every song. I'm sure it's already been explained before, but Korean age is slighty different then western age. In fact, Jungkook would have been 13/14, but be 15 in Korean age. However, he would have been 13 before his b-day, have turned 14 on his b-day that year, and be 15 in Korean age. Once you are born, on January 1st, you turn 1 in Korean age. Plus, a small critique: I don't think it's a good idea to read out loud the entire time. Not only do you miss out on auditory things (such as how their names are pronounced), but you also tend to skip a good deal of the typed out information. An example would be on Tae's (V's) section at the beginning. He was noticed at the auditions for his good looks while being there with a friend that was auditioning that day for support. *When a staff member noticed him, they asked him to audition, but he said he couldn't since he didn't have his parents permission. This staff member then phoned up his parents, to which they finally said "yes" and boom! V of BTS is here! *

In Korea, you are 1 years old when you're born and you age on New Years day, not on your actual birthday. So JK could be 13 in terms of US birthday, but in Korea he'd be 14 or 15 depending of the lunar calendar. It's difficult to keep up with if you're not used to it.

Suga is my favorite. He grew up tough and struggled hard to get where he is. He is more reserved then the other members and can come off aloof or cold to people that don't know him but he is actually one of the sweetest caring people. He is a man of few words so when he tells another member he really likes something like Jimin's voice he means every word and they know that too so his complements have real weight behind them. When he chooses to speak in a serious moment the other members often sit back intently to listen not just because he is older and they respect him but because they know he has something significant or important to say otherwise he wouldn't say it. He has this tough guy swag on the outside but inside he is squishy and sweet. He has his goofy side too and he can be sarcastic and funny. To army he resembles a cat/kitten. He is usually calm and laid back but mess with him or his hyungs and the tiger comes out. When he acts cute or adorably sassy army refer to him as "lil meow meow" it's just a term of endearment among fans.

(forgive my english) more information: -BTS live together in one house for 7 yrs , when they start they have no budget. so they live in small place with one room. -RM has IQ 148 -Jin family is on Forbes list for the richest in korea, his mom was Miss Korea, but he left all this and struggled with 6boys in one room just to follow his dream. -Jungkook has blackbelt in Taekwodo. Another person already answered part of it, but I wanted to add that in Korea, everyone turns 1 year older on January 1st, regardless of when they were born. So if you were born Dec 31, 1990, you would be a 1 year old in 1990, and then you'd be 2 years old on January 1, 1991 even though you're technically 2 days old by western standards. So, you can determine your own Korean age by adding 1 year to it if you've already had your birthday, or add 2 years if you haven't had your birthday yet.

You explained it well. I just wanted to add that here (in the US, where I live) you say ~'years old', as in how many years you have lived (past tense). In Korea, it's ~'살', means 'life/live'; the year of life you are living (present tense). That is why when you're born, it's your first year of life, therefore you're age starts as 1 in Korea.

Korea have 3 big Companys that have all Money many artist, but there are many small Companys, and Bts Company was small whid no budget, the had to borrow clothes use Managers and Producers in there Mv. All 7 sleept in one bedroom, not mutch Money for food. the all live together, but today the live in the most expensive apartment in Korea. This guys are so humble

The aging system in Korea is different, they consider the 9 months in the womb a year.... so you're basically a year old when you're born and they don't really go by birthdays but by years. So everyone ages a year together during the New Years. Basically, your Korean age is The current year - your birth year + 1. My Korean age would be (2019-2000+1=) 20 years

ok not to hate or anything but do you have to read the subs out loud? it feels like you're missing stuff that way, with the half finished sentences etc. idk. makes it a bit hard to watch, for me at least ^^" Edit: To be clear, it's not the reading itself that I have a problem with (sure it's a bit much but that's just preferences) - it's 1: that the *half finished sentences* actually change the meaning of the subs, & 2: them reading out loud over parts that should be *listened* to. Why not pause the vid if you really have to read *every* sentence out loud?

It may sound a bit weird that Jin got scouted getting of a bus while attending university for acting, but he was actually first scouted as an ACTOR for the company. (I'm betting since he was attending one of the premier acting universities in Korea, that scouters were keeping an eye on all the new students for potentinal new recrouts for their companies and noticed his good looks and scores, he was a top student) It was only at a later date that the company CEO asked him to join his new group as a singer.

In Korea they count pregnancy so when you are born you automatically are 1yr old And every New Year everyone gains another year. So if you were just born in December you would turn 2 on January 1st even if you were only a couple weeks old.

Actually, he gave himself the name Suga because it is a combination of the word "Shooting Guard", the position he predominantly plays in basketball. Suga loves playing basketball, he's really good at it and used to do it a lot in the past :)

I actually learned english while watching BTS haha so i love it ! 😂💜💜 It's like, I'm from Algeria which is in North Africa, and I've learned english while watching a Souty Korean boy group, if it isn't funny haha, also obviously school teaches English be it in Korea or in my country, it's just that we only learned it to have good grades, at least that's for me, and as soon as the school year ends i forget everything cause i couldn't care less about it, but BTS is making mw care and i relearned everything in a few days just by watching their videos with english subs hhh Anyway, thanks for the reaction guys, i hope you'll love our boys even more and understand why they are so hyped up by this world haha, i purple you all ~ 😁💜💜

I don't have favourite of bts. I love them all. When I watched bts to first time, I loved Suga. Then I was love to Jimin, then Jhope, then jungkook, then Rm, then Jimin again.... For the age difference.. in korea they included the 9 months you were in the belly of your mother... that's why 100 days is very important to them... 9 months in the belly plus 100 days is equal to 1 year... and also if you were born in Lunar they will also add 1 year to your age so that's why it can be 13 or 14 korean age and 15 in international age..

This video has some mistakes so let me correct them first JHOPE is a main dancer not a dance leader even tho he contributes to the choreo sometimes his official place is main dancer, and JIMIN is also the main dancer of the group (it wasnt said in the video even tho it's important idk why lol)!
