Dr Charles Perkins was a powerful and often uncompromising personality who became the first Aboriginal person to not only complete tertiary education, but to head a Federal Government department.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the University of Sydney’s Dr. Charles Perkins Oration and Prize, a significant annual event that celebrates the achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people while exploring the current state of race relations in Australia.
