Drake had a barmitzvah Drake is from Canada Drake was raised in Jew community Drake was raised by his YT family Drake isn’t our culture, hip hop is from the black American experience & point of view. When tragedies happen to our community Kendrick made songs addressing it even Cole speaks on inner city issues Drake doesn’t because he can’t.

His first six years of being famous was him telling you about his life. That’s the reason why everybody used to call him soft and say he vulnerable. It wasn’t always about women. And Young Thug already said Drake the only big artist that be trying to help people try to help people Music go up that ain’t culture snatching he bigging up the art

I was listening the first six years, and I don’t believe he told us much outside of his efforts to become a rapper/star. We don’t know what type of neighborhood he grew up in, what type of schools he went to, etc. Alot of y’all are okay with pandering and I don’t understand why.

UNDERSTAND THIS IS NOT ABOUT SKIN COLOR ITS ABOUT CULTURE,culture is a language,it’s a thought process/body movement/taste for food/taste in clothing ect i know wat a hot comb smells like,DRAKE DOESNT UNTIL HE MET STRIPPERS

Exactly. An example of these cultural expressions of race: go to Ross in a black neighborhood and there will be clothing that represents black culture. Ross in a Mexican neighborhood will have predominantly cultural items etc etc. they also play music according to the demographics cultural demand. This happens in most businesses. Imagine being at Ross in a black area and every week they change the cultural aesthetics from clothes to music to workers; that’s pandering and inappropriate on many levels

Yes, drake is black but the point is he's always identified mostly with his white side because he was always with his mother. Drake didn't talk how he talks now, he changed his image over time to fit in. He's also a culture vulture because he's a Canadian who cosplays black American culture, a culture that he didn't grow up in. If you knew who he was from Degrassi you'd know that and see the changes. And he wants to be part of the culture, but when shit goes down in the culture you never hear drake speaking out. One of the biggest artists never speaks out.

Bro on the left is tripping. Drake is black he can’t be a culture vulture. Yall want his black experience to be just like your own and fault him for growing up different. He grew up with his mom’s side it’s not his fault his pops wasn’t around. Drake does songs with artist who are up and coming and gives them a look. That’s a black man putting on for his folks. Does he benefit from it yes but so does the person. We have to stop acting like we all grow up the same.
@hotdewayne09
@hotdewayne09 Ай бұрын
This isn't true. Being black don't mean you apart of the culture. What is the culture we speak of. Blacks in American has had a very different experience then blacks everywhere else. Those experiences shapes the culture. So those who come up in those environments are the culture. Drake background reflect a vastly different culture. Just because he is a black man don't mean he is apart of the culture in the USA. Blacks in African has their own different culture and they dont accept when they see other Blacks across the global appropriate and claim it as their own. You will be surprise to hear the inner thoughts of ppl who actually have pride and studies african American culture and see someone like drake claim it as his own. Culture and ethnicity are separate things. I believe the phrase is "all skinfolk ain't your kinfolk. "

@@hotdewayne09 stop being ridiculous. Who are you to tell that man his experience? You think black ppl are treated like royalty in Canada? Y’all act like Canada is another planet. Drake didn’t need to grow up with roaches in his house to understand the culture. He’s been around almost 20 years now y’all woke up one day and decided he wasn’t black enough? This is silly.

@@hotdewayne09I agree being Black doesn't make you part of the culture look at Daniel Cameron but that's independent from your upbringing. The culture is not monolithic, Childish Gambino is part of the culture and he's very different from Thug. Earl Sweatshirt is part of the culture but his experience is very different from Vince Staples. And we're just talking socioeconomic. If we look deeper you see Houston, NO, ATL, NYC are very different. Just like Ghana, Senegal, Kenya and Bostwana are all different. But one thing is sure whether in Berlin or Montreal or Harlem the encounter of black man with the police is likely the same. Like you said all skinfolks ain't kinfolks. Cause while Bill O'Neal, black American lineage, was setting up Fred Hampton for the FBI, Kwame Ture, a Trinidad born, was organizing the Panthers.

Drake isn’t even the issue. All of the gangster rap, drill rap and twerk music has led to the downfall of our community! Bad behavior and street culture has become celebrated, rather than condemned and if we don’t unite, organize and mobilize, we will lose everything.
