Since when is it “far right” and “extreme” to oppose your country being completely overtaken by foreigners? I’m sure you wouldn’t want the same to happen to your country. When immigrants started arriving to UK to help in the rebuilding after WW2, majority of British working class people tolerated them but Powell, a failing politician who had high ambitions made the incendiary speech, which made the white working class to turn on the immigrants. The govt then had to bring in the Race Relations Act in 1976 to combat this. What we have now is Islamophobia mixed in with immigration. There needs to be more effective control of hate on social media which is mainly Islamophobic in nature.

Powell was a great man. He was concerned for Great Britain. Just like ANY political leader should be for their own country. His concerns were over numbers of immigrants and of cultures which cannot and will not integrate. Yes, we had an Empire. So did many, many other nations throughout history. But it was Great Britain who abolished slavery. Please remember that fact. Also, please remember that white English men, women, and children in Cornwall were stolen by Barbary pirates and forced into slavery.
