"Kao" is a Polish spelling of this name - and yes, it should be pronounced like "K-O".

I'm gonna want to explore these 4 Kao games and see how much they really have to offer. All of this reminds me of the first times I started playing Crash and TY back then. One thing I need to mention, which contributed to the immense popularity of Kao in Poland (apart from the devs being Polish) was the very attractive and affordable price of the PC original - back in 2000 the economy situation in Poland looked very different, and not many folks could afford a hot new 150+ PLN game. Enter Kao with its very affordable price tag of just 49 PLN - combined with the fact it was released in late November, it made a perfect Christmas gift for many young players. That's how I got my copy as well!

I am actually from Poland and I used to play this game quite a lot. I thought it was popular all around the world, but it seems it mostly Was popular in my not so lovely contry... I have never heard about Kao making a comeback. I'll definitely check it out when it comes out

Oh, about the first game. It was planned as a PC-exclusive game at first, but the publisher (Titus) *really* pushed for a console release, so Tate agreed at late in development, Dreamcast version was created

When my grandparents got me my gamecube for my birthday forever ago they got me KAO alongside it (along with some other games) but I literally played KAO so many times I'd beat it then restart its been a long time since I've played it I can't remember how many times I've played it, I remember it being super difficult for little 7 or 8 year old me that I'd always get upset but prevail till the end, it is still a great game even though I haven't played it in years I highly recommend anybody who hasn't to play it, I literally just found out a new one was released through my switch e-shop and nostalgia just came flooding in lol its awesome to see it after so long

I never heard Kao before until the trailer a couple months ago and I'm really looking forward to playing the full game this summer Also, trying to play Kao The Kangaroo (2000) on PC via the Kao trilogy on GOG and playing with the outdated PC controls is something else, even remapping the arrow buttons for the modern WASD scheme.

there's actually alot of stuff scrapped from kao the kangaroo mystery of the vulcano, there were diffrent shaders, multiple islands, more characters and so much more, a polish guy made a video about the stuff that was scrapped

I remember that American Kao Round 2 box art when I was a kid. I never gave the game a chance back then because the box art made it look like a knock-off Military shooter, a genre I had no interest in. Might give the 2nd game a go when I have the time and I hope the new game is fun.

I learned about Kao through Nitro Rad. I've always seen the box art for Round 2, but it just kind of blended in with a sea of weird PS2-era games for me, so I never thought too much of it lol. I am excited for the new game though.

I have no idea why other people thought that Kao’s name was pronounced Cow. First of all they should know that Kao is a Kangaroo and he has Boxing gloves on his paws, therefore his name Kao is a pun on K.O. As in the Abbreviation for Knockout, Kao looks nothing like the dairy producing mammal called a cow. It looks like you and I both agree that Kao’s name is a pun on his boxing gloves and Knockout title Canadian Guy Eh.

I recommend the second game but not so much the first as it’s quite basic compared to the sequel but it does have a variety of funny enemies, one of the weirdest things about the first game is you have to place the checkpoints yourself using flags I’m glad that didn’t stay in the series

Quite enjoyed the demo, was frustrating when I got stuck in a table inside the hut near the frog band and had to restart the whole level again from the BEGINNING but sad that the demo can’t be played anymore as the steam fest is over but at least we won’t have long to wait for the full game 😁
