There was something about Landon ricketts that always made me feel like he knew the truth of the world the truth about his world anyway

The next RDR3 definitely needs to center around Landon Ricketts and his journey to redemption, If I had to guess his redemption story could be about avenging his wife’s murder. Possibly happened while he was deep in the gunslingers lifestyle, He wasn’t there to protect her when she needed him. We can get the first red dead game from a Lawman type character’s perspective and we’d even get a closer look at the Pinkertons being that we’d be on their side of the law. The game will be set out West (Landon moved to Mexico after a substantial gun fight in California all they would have to do is create 2 more states one that represented the other half of the Midwest you know represents states like New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Idaho, Utah and of course California), Mexico and probably include the current map. Landon Ricketts is the perfect age for prime gunslinger era (1865 -1895) and a deep story involving all the other legendary gunslingers he could have possibly hunted like Billy Midnight, Black Belle (Likely Friends), Flaco Hernandez, Emmet Granger (Informant, maybe they could have a run in as he snitched against his gang), Butcher Brothers (Confirmed Killed By Landon), Frank Heck (Probably Kills In A Duel; He was removed from RDR2 so perfect place to use him and we know which town he was in), Otis Miller (Probably Kills In A Duel), Slim Grant (Probably Kills In A Duel), Jack Hall Gang (Probably Fights), Bart Love Gang (Probably Fights), Jim “Boy” Calloway (hearing about his stories probably follows Landon around trying to gain gunslinger glory by becoming Landon’s apprentice but Landon refuses because he’s trying to get away from that life and is a freelance lawman now and eventually Calloway stops believing Landon truly was a legendary gunslinger starts believing they’re just stories so he starts making up stories about himself sometimes even claiming to be the one to actually killed those gunslingers Landon took out and some people believe him because he is seen around Landon and Landon does not deny his claims because he doesn’t even want the attention or notoriety anymore and he’s too busy on the lookout for whichever gunslinger he was hunting all the way from Blackwater to out west to Mexico (our antagonist). Landon ignores Jim Calloway of course and eventually sees that as a way to get away from the fame so he lets the fool make those claims eventually Calloway is killed by Arthur (I believe this is cannon because if John did it he would have mentioned meeting Calloway when Landon said “I was the fastest in my time. I must've been - I'm the only one left.”) I believe the game will take place between 1881 to 1914 The reason I pick those years is because Landon Rickets is quoted saying “I spent twenty-five years killing men. Look at me now, sitting around here like some low rent would-be messiah. We're relics” he said that in 1911 to John while in Mexico. (Landon was born in 1861 so he would be 20 by then) However I think from 1881 to 1886 will be the prologue (He’d be 20-25) where he properly learns how to become a gunslinger earning his notoriety, they may have him as a part of a gang possibly the Butcher Brothers at this time (it would be ideal for a back story as to why he kills them and flees to Mexico). From 1886 to 1911 (25-50) you get the main game where he earns his legendary status and eventually decides it’s worthless and he’d rather be a bounty hunter/lawman It’s at this time the Blackwater Massacre (1899) happens which forces Landon to go west to California (maybe hunting after someone who was also in blackwater?possibly the other guy Micah was plotting with to turn over Dutch and the Boys for the reward money, reason why Micah has a wanted poster of Dutch and eventually burns it after being seen as a member of Dutch’s gang having no choice but to run with them until he gets the opportunity to turn on him for that money also this could have been a better option since he would no longer hear from the other guy he was with in blackwater who is trying to escape from Landon ricketts due to being responsible for the murder of his wife. I mean think about it Micah is not the kind of guy who belongs to a gang unless he’s the leader. He’s the loner type or maybe 1 or 2 other guys he runs with but not an entire gang) unlike the Van Der Linde Gang who traveled North to get away from the Law. Landon was too busy hunting that guy down to get his revenge (which is also why he wasn’t in RDR2 he was out west). That led to him killing the butcher brothers in Cali (1902)(Possibly due to them protecting the guy who killed Landon’s wife, eventually following him into Mexico (still lawless for the most part so Landon has to get the guy without the Pinkerton or US Lawmen’s help, there we find out the guy killed his wife’s death as retaliation for Landon leaving the gang to become a bounty hunter) Landon could have also made the decision to change lives after realizing that the outlaws time is over and the Pinkertons are rounding them up. Landon moves to Mexico (1902) and stays until age 50. When he gets back from Mexico (1911) he meets Jack Marston they bond over John and Landon decides to teach Jack everything he knows about gunslinging. This part could be Epilogue part 1 where you still play as an old but capable Landon kind of like Hosea but more active. Jack represents the son Landon never had. Jack of course is eager to learn gunslinging to avenge his dad and that’s how Jack learns how to shoot properly and Landon’s story ends here where he passes away peacefully at the age 53 (1914) like it’s mentioned in a newspaper. You play in the Epilogue part 2 as Jack where the Redemption story ends for good because from then on Cowboys are not a thing anymore and Jack meets the writer from the side mission with Jim Calloway where he falls in love with reading all over again and becomes a writer carrying the legacy of all the gunslingers he knew in another way by telling their stories which is why you can find books in GTAV written by J Marston. Of course during this epilogue Jack runs into Mary Beth who hands him the pen Arthur gave her, Tilly who shares stories about his mom and dad. Pearson who does the same thing. Karen who we find out did not die of LQ but instead grew old and bitter (the pain) and decided to just stay away from everyone who reminded her that life. We also run into, Sadie during some Bounty hunting missions of course and charles as he went out west to help native Americans protect the last of their lands.

Landon Ricketts being the protagonist or at least the Epilogue character would work really well if they plan on making another prequel. Hard to imagine the latter wont be the case if the game builds up to the Blackwater massacre. Not sure if being a Van Der Linde gang member in the Epilogue would work in that case. Mac and Davey would be cool characters to explore as well. Everyone always says theres no where to take the story as if there isnt 20 or so years of unexplored history. Even the 6 months leading up to Blackwater would be enough for a game.

It seems like they didn't really know what to do with him in Red dead 2 or just chose not to really involve him or mention him outside of brief references and easter eggs which is honestly fine. Not everything has to make a return. It is a bit odd though because he isn't even mentioned in the news papers as being present in black water like he was in RDR1s news papers.

Given that John died defending Abigail and Jack, and Arthur died so that all three of them could have a life, i think it would only be fitting to have Jack be the next protagonist.

It would be cool if RDR3 was based around Landon & maybe even “Uncle.” I don’t want RDR3 to go forward in the timeline because that would mean more large cities & development. I want RDR to remain more cowboy driven. Not modernized. Sorry, my English isn’t that good ✌🏾
