Fun Fact: At age 6, Clyde became the youngest ever member of the Songwriters Guild for a song he wrote for the Movie Miss Congeniality. his dad was the director and the producers axed the planned song. Clydes dad slipped his son's own song in and they loved it.

Quick correction: Donald Petrie directed Miss Congeniality. Marc Lawrence, who cut his teeth writing and producing for the tv series “Family Ties” in the 80’s, was co-screenwriter, and has since gone on to direct several films himself.

I love seeing someone discover them for the first time, especially when tiny, little Gracie opens her mouth for the first time and that BIG voice comes out. I first discovered them when their song "Don't Lose Sight" (which you should check out the acoustic-ish version of) was used in a commercial. Also, at the top of my list is the acoustic-ish of "I'm Confident I'm insecure". Based on your vibe I think you would really, really like "Freckles" featuring Jon Bellion and the Hunter Tones. They just released an album called Family Business. The whole thing is awesome. If you don't binge them along with their accousticish stuff, hip reolacement off of the Family Business album is a must. I also recommend, its not all about you, make a move and freckles.

They always bring in more singers for their acoustic-ish videos. Typically it is an 8-piece group- Clyde and Gracie on lead vocals with 6 musicians (Marc on trumpet and bongos, Sumner on alto sac and shaker, Jordan on tenor sax, Jonny on guitar, Sam on drums/percussion, and Michael on bass-Jordan, Jonny, and Michael all helping with background vocals as well)

In case you hadn't read it anywhere, Clyde wrote a song for the Miss Congeniality soundtrack in 2000. He just turned 30 last month.... Their dad was a writer on the movie and wasn't happy with the pageant scene theme music so he asked 5 year old Clyde what he thought. Clyde wrote his own version and dad submitted it to the producers without telling them who wrote it. They liked it and the rest is history.

Lawrence has made a recurring series of videos where they take one of their studio tracks and create a less-augmented, single-take version. It’s still mixed and mastered but it’s all there in the one recording. Most contemporary artists would be hard-pressed to do that. The background singers are friends/fam who regularly perform in these versions, which have come to be called “acoustic-ish.” If you love horns check out their regular band videos which features a 3-pc. horn section. If you read this before Mon. Aug. 12th, 2024, they’re scheduled to perform on Tonight Show w/ Jimmy Fallon.
