@Chris What? He looked like he always does. He can't let things get too far off the rails so he has to be aware of the time but he kept it together. If anyone was uncomfortable it seemed to be Selena. First time on the show and she has two of the biggest comedians sitting next to her and those two and Stephen all come from improv so they can riff back and forth and she looked a little stunned at times. Especially when Steve would jump in and say "I go first then you go". It was a weird dynamic.

A strong talk show host would always watch at least some of the project or read enough of the segment producer’s notes to be able to at least intelligently reference the project.

Do they? It's not always the case that the host didn't see the show. Stephen may have caught a screener or watched it while he was on hiatus knowing they'd be on. "Have you seen it yet?" was certainly a line from the interview but it was hardly the funniest or even unique to this interview. Guests have been asking that question since talk shows became a thing and they'd go on to promote them. I thought the better line was Stephen's "Obviously." then throwing to commercial so nobody could ask a follow up question.
