Love what you guys do. Incidentally- Does POM have ratings on animal encounters? I carry it more than I carry a pistol. Whether around town, or running- (I've had a few dog encounters over the years). A friend was talking about some bear encounters hiking- and I was wondering how it stacks up on bear?

It works about the same on all mammals.

I used Sabre pepper gel on a very aggressive dog (my POM pepper gel was in storage due to moving) and it was effective. The dog tried to charge at me a few times after getting sprayed, but each time, the pepper gel went further into its eye and it backed off. I really wish I had the POM on me though because the flip up cap safety is much better than the twist safety. I was fumbling with the twist safety for several seconds while the dog was trying to bite me. I assume POM and Sabre have similar formulas so they would likely be similarly effective

You are a man after my own heart regarding wanting more animal encounter evidence based stories/training/analysis. 80% of the reason I carry pepper spray is animals of all types. According to my notes John Correia reports 4 successful dog deterrences by my last count. I wish POM made a bigger spray than the 2oz...in the meantime I carry other companies sprays for when my need exceeds what the POM 2oz can probably do....

Yeah...always wondered how these two from South Dakota crossed paths with John-from Arizona..
