I'd be interested in a Japanese version, but maybe a more serious one. So just karate people, and the non-blackbelts still need to be practitioners of karate. There are some really talented beginners who within a short period learn to move really well, so it could be more challenging.

What a black belt " is" differs a lot, and it is sort of an infected debate at times. A Japanese version of this would be fun though!
@senbonzakurakageyoshi6622 жыл бұрын
Different from your style, your organisation of the style and even from the dojo is. I don't see the black belt level the same way you do, and it's not the way sensei Waku does too.
@dirgniflesuoh79502 жыл бұрын
@@senbonzakurakageyoshi662 I am not sure what you mean, I just know that what it takes to get a black belt is different, depending on art, style or dojo. The syllabuses are of course different, tests are different, what is considered important in the material differs, and what the level of black belt is supposed to be. Some black belts are considered less valid by others, some are more held in awe, but it is usually a bit rude to question an actual person's diploma and belt to his or her face. Then a black belt may also have periods when they are sick, have a lot of work or other things that gets them out of shape, for some time, or just leave it behind forget a lot, and perhaps begin again at beginner's white. The views on this differ. What I was wondering about was how are the contestants for this show picked? The "fakes"? A person may be training for the black belt test, or the one before that, and actually have trained for longer, and more, than some of the black belts, and some learn very fast, some do not.
@Froge42912 жыл бұрын
@@dirgniflesuoh7950 but there is 2 "counter" arguments i personally have 1: a "standard" for a black belt is that they should ATLEAST have the knowledge and the ability to correctly execute the fundementals in whatever martial art (which in all fairness all martial arts have a diffrent set of fundementals) 2: while going out of shape or the athelete not being in their prime will hinder their preformance, there is always the technical knowledge that a "black belt" has optained which you will clearly see when they demonstrate a technique of some sort (unless you want to point to a former "black belt " who quit martial arts all together where, no disrespect but they are probably back to the level of a white belt)

American dojos are notorious for having different standards for a black belt. What I don't like is that TKD style was repeated. A shodan or 1° black belt degree means you know your basics well are now ready to start serious training. Black belt does not mean you are a master. Most styles consider that you are a master when you reach 4°degree black belt.

All this to spot the black belt, like its an ending point, when its only proficiency in a full given art, and a beginning to more advanced training. 😁 Its an important step, but the just the first whole rung on the ladder. Everything before thats, just a level of knowledge on the way to that first step. A fractional belt. All are important, but still just the beginning.

Kata orders are non standard from organisation to organisation or from dojo to dojo but what i can tell you is the order in my dojo and my organisation which is White and yellow belt: • Taikyoko shodan (also commonly known as "kihon kata") • shodan (in Wado ryu it is named pinan nidan) Orange and green: • Heian/pinan nidan (in Wado ryu it is called pinan shodan) • Heian/pinan sandan Blue (some also have purple in the system): • Heian/pinan yondan • Heian/pinan godan • Tekki/nihanchi shodan Brown (there are many katas in the brown to black belt grading, some add more, some have less but here are the bare minumum that a brown belt needs to memorize to attempt a black belt): • Bassai/passai dai • Jion • Empi/wanshu BUT if a brown belt is also working to compete in kata tournaments they might include some of these katas in their repritoire: • Kanku/kusanku Dai • Kanku/kusaknku sho • Sochin • Gojushiho sho • Unsu • Gankaku/chinto

Unfortunately, very few American black belts are taught anything beyond physical techniques and movements, so it's actually quite realistic for this to happen. The primary reason is that most American black belts become such as children and then are never given anything else to aspire to beyond that point.

Most American "martial arts" is so embarrassing to watch. Flashy moves, kata, weapons handling, screaming as loud as you can, breaking boards, it's all such a joke. There's no actual technique being taught, no actual self defense, no proper training/coaching and many times, it's lead by some random guy who never actually got a black belt in anything and is just pretending that he did, because he liked Bruce Lee movies growing up and realized he can make money by teaching kids whose parents will pay lots of money for their kids simply to be involved in some kind of extra curricular activity, which the teacher can talk up, saying that it will teach the kids "discipline", "respect", and "honor", meanwhile, little to none of those things are actually taught. Sorry, I'm just getting annoyed even thinking about it.
