@@gene8675 In the Torah, it says the Ark landed in the Ararat mountains. Genesis 8:4. Others say it was somewhere in Mesopotamia. I would check your local Chabad & ask a Rabbi at one of their institutions. It is something of a mystery?However, after Shabbat I would contact Chabad as I previously mentioned. They are very knowledgeable when it comes to Tanakh & Talmud. It is a good question! Shabbat Shalom to you! 🕎

I don’t get it because most Sephardic Jews in Israel and a bunch of friends that I have here in Lakewood that are from Yemen originally, they are all dark skinned so I don’t know why people make a big deal about skin color when we’re all the same!! When I look at Sarah, I see a European Jewish woman, when I look at you guys I see a beautiful husband and wife trying to make a meaningful life for them and their children and may you continue to do so!

I commented before to you that I was in my early 30s when I found out I was a Jew. When I sought out the Jewush people I immediately experienced two things you have mentioned here. The first was the feeling I had come home to my people. The second was being challenged at every turn as to my Jewishness and I'm white. It's their job to verify beyond a doubt that you have a Jewish Neshuma.

YES YES YES agreed!!!!! love this it's so funny that I emailed you about Sara Braun's book and then you did the video lol that's such funny timing 💚💚💚💚 Also within Jewishness I get a lot of "Are you Sephardic or Ashkenazi on your father's side" and I say "Mostly Ashkenazi but I have also a great, great great great Sephardic grandfather so I have both." and all that means is where the Jewish person came from Sephardic came from Spain Africa etc and Askenazi Eastern Europe but many got married and most people have both Sephardic and Ashkenazi Jewish heritage. What baffles me is I met someone once that said "It's impossible that your dad had both." and I was like no it's not, for example if you have a Ashkenazi mom and Sephardic dad you are from both and both are still at the end of the day Jews. Also my "niece" (my cousin's kids) are mixed Jews my cousin married a biracial guy and my niece is so proud of her Jewishness as a little girl and I'm so proud for her, I think what scares me at times is the world we live in and it scares me for the antisemtism and racism she may face in this scary world. I hope that by the time she's 12 or 13 we live in a world of love and less hatred its what I pray for everyday to Hashem.

I remember when this story came up on my KZbin feed back in March of 2023. I stopped to listen to her story as I enjoy stories of interesting people. She is an amazing lady who would be a great neighbor for sure. She is authentic with a beautiful smile and personality that I admire. I do agree with you both that we are people, regardless of what color our skin is. We do need to get back to that , seeing people for who they are and not the color they are. I miss those days when we were not so divided like we are now. Sara is definitely someone to look up to and be inspired by.

The interview with Sara Braun was refreshing and had so much depth. My favourite part in the interview was Sara's mother advice to her, to always be in control of the choices she made. My takeaway from the interview is Sara's patience, perspective, her desire to know her roots and especially her resilience through life. House of Lev making reaction videos (B’zH), when possible, would inspire growth and build community, so thumbs up for that decision. 😃

I was born into conservative Judaism- I am not an expert by any means but I always thought of folks truly wish to convert they are considered ‘just as Jewish’ (don’t know how else to say it) than someone born into the faith. Being a Jew is supposed to mean you have more responsibilities that go along w being a Jew- and anyone who wants to embrace Jewish practices convert and are Jewish in their heart I would certainly embrace as a fellow Jew. My aunt is adopted so this is not new for me. Many of my Ashkenazi friends look Sefardi my children look Asian (my wife is Yemenite) another aunt of mine is a convert, and my grandmother is a convert.... Growing up in the UK we had Jews from all different backgrounds and skin colors and it was very usual for us.

Jews come from all geographical areas, thus all colors. The ethics & practice is for a good life not matter how you observe: very observant or just support your Jewish community. A remarkable, observant rabbi, now deceased, said, "...I will embrace any Jew with a pulse..." It is an infinite "journey" of learning. Thank you for your clarity & personal communication.

Beautiful, beautiful video! After watching the Inspiration for the Nation interview, I began to think deeply about this point regarding color. And now, after listening to your comments about it, I have a very genuine question for you guys. I truly hope that you take this question for what it is and not chas v'shalom the wrong way: Is there not something positive about noticing color, in the sense that it speaks to our past, the region from where our grandparents originated, and their experiences that have shaped our lives? Am I wrong for thinking that we should see color but that color shouldn't make us love or hate one person more than the other, rather it should just be a marker of sorts for that person's past? @@lisaj4441 My husband (Ashkenazic-Jew, father is an Isreali vet but parents and whole family are originally from the Soviet Union) also says it’s extremely disingenuous to say in Isreal “a Jew is a Jew”. The whole family has at least taken their birth right trips (besides the kids) and many have lived and Isreal and he says someone is intentionally being dishonest or willfully ignorant if they pretend its not a prevalent problem that Sephardic Jews often feel grief over receiving fair treatment or otherwise being looked down on by Askenazic Jews in Isreal. “a Jew a Jew” is not the overwhelmingly pervasive attitude just because they’re Isreali citizens. There are people who are treated and looked at differently Literally no country or community is “we are all one, Kumbaya, we see no difference, Kumbaya, we are all the same, Kumbaya” but many communities intentionally misrepresent themselves to avoid airing their dirty laundry even it looks basically the same as most either community’s dirty laundry.

I haven't listened/watched the interview you're talking about yet, but I'm trying to understand - why not see color in the right places? I was born and raised and I still live in Israel. I come from an Ashkenazi family and many of my friends from a young age to this day are of Sfardi, Mizrahi, Yemeni origin.. I do not think that I am considered more than them because of my origin or that they are superior to me because of their origin and certainly not because of the color of are skin. But why not be happy and proud of the place where our parents or grandparents came from? My grandparents who came from Europe were God-fearing - יראי שמים - people and my best friend's grandparents were also like that in Yemen. The Torah is the same Torah, the Halacha the same Halacha. Only the customs/color/appearance differ depending on the country of origin and its influences. Why not enjoy it? love your channel🌷

I have a very good friend who is a black American Jew. I went to temple with her before. Race doesn't play a part in what faith a person is or isn't. Judaism, Christianity, Muslim, Buddhism etc. are all different faiths and there are people from all races that belong to each faith.

I watched both videos. What do I think? I've heard of this concept from you and others of a "Jewish soul". It seems to me that despite all the family history and hurdles, Sara's Jewish soul called out to her in a compelling way that she could not ignore. Why does this interest me as a gentile? As it happens, my step-grandson is halachicly Jewish, just like Sara. His mother's mother's mother was a Polish Jew that came from an observant family before the Holocaust. I do not know if this baby boy will ever be interested in his heritage, but for various reasons, I may well be the only one in his family that knows where to steer him should his soul call out to him to learn more. It would be a thing I cannot really teach him, but I want to be ready to know where to send him to learn should he show interest.

Antisemitism lives in the foundations of human society and human nature. The human ego-the desire to enjoy at the expense of others and nature-evolves throughout history and during a person’s life. The more it grows, the more it feels an opposite force also dwelling within. That opposite force is called a “point in the heart.” Contrary to our egoistic desires that wish solely to absorb pleasures into themselves, the point in the heart is a desire that has potential to develop into a desire that loves, gives and positively connects to others. The point in the heart is also known as the seed of the soul, as we can develop it to discover our soul-the connection that underlies those very points. The realization of the potential encased in this small point of desire is the ability to rise above the human ego, where instead of detaching from one another through our growing egoism, i.e. increasingly prioritizing self-benefit over benefiting others, we instead prioritize the benefit of others and positive human connection. The point in the heart is the opposite of our egoistic nature. There are people who host only the negative egoistic force, and there are people who have both the negative egoistic force and the positive altruistic force. When both positive and negative forces coexist in us, then we become called “Jews” or “Israel” according to our inner essence. Likewise, if we solely host the negative egoistic force with no revelation yet of the point in the heart, then we are called “nations of the world” according to that essence. We underwent several stages of development throughout history. The point in the heart first surfaced throughout human society in ancient Babylon. The Babylonians who felt the inner urge to seek something deeper in life beyond the earthly egoistic desires joined Abraham, who taught a method for how to nurture the point in the heart in order to rise above the ego and positively connect. Abraham organized the Babylonians who wanted to study with him into a group, and he called this group “Israel,” which is made up of the words “Yashar Kel” (“straight to God”), i.e. people who aim themselves directly at the attainment of nature’s upper force of love, bestowal and connection, which is opposed to the force existing in human beings, the force of reception. Since Abraham’s time, the two groups-Israel and the nations of the world-have undergone much development. Some from the Israel camp left the group to pursue their natural egoistic inclinations, i.e. with an inclination to the nations of the world, while some from the nations of the world felt that they possess a special closeness and connection, which draws them to Israel. In other words, Jews are not a nationality, but they are people who host the point in the heart, which associates them with the positive force of nature, and which is opposite to the egoistic force that we are born and raised with by nature. The source of antisemitism is in the contrast and conflict between the two opposite desires of our inborn egoism and the point in the heart that can develop our ability to rise above the human ego.

Thank you so much for clearly stating what most people are not aware of: there is no concept of color in Judaism !! Ethiopian Jews are black (check out Miss Israel 2013 !), Yemenite Jews are dark skinned as are many Persian and Moroccan Jews. And of course there are converts like yourself. Many out there are not even aware that conversion to Judaism is possible - many believe that Judaism is "exclusive". I like to point out to these people that merely two conditions have to be met to join: 1. you have to be a human being. 2. you have to absolutely commit to Torah laws. I came across her video but I didn't watch it till the end. She sound like an amazing person with very interesting journey. I think that the most misconception in the world and especially in America about Jewish people that there we are all white. More than half of the Jewish living in Israel came from a middle eastern or North African descent. And all though there are some racial and cultural tensions between different group, most Jewish people don't see color. The second misconception about Jewish people is that we are all observants. And maybe most of us deep connection to the tradition and Jewish culture, most of the Jewish people are not observant at all. The third thing that a lot of people think about Jewish people that we are successful in high-tech, and that we are good fighter in the army. That is not misconception, that's actually correct. 😁

She tells Frieda she's only visiting Holland and coming back after pesach but 2 months later she's still in Holland where she claims to work with kids. She claims she was making a lot of money as an opera singer but came to NY with empty pockets. She claims her kids go to a heimishe school with chassidishe kids (again, in Holland. Not in NY) and a little digging will reveal that that's not true. I don't know her or her real story. I know that she's not being honest.

Only time I've seen the suffix "Ish" used in scripture is when the Mother of the individual is an Israelite and the father is of another nation. *Leviticus 24:10-16* 10 And the son of an *Israelitish* woman, whose father was an Egyptian, went out among the children of Israel: and this son of the *Israelitish* woman and a man of Israel strove together in the camp; the term "Jewish" is a more modern construct I believe originated in Babylon but they are being honest by using the suffix "Ish" because Rabbinic Judaism goes by the "Oral Torah" and Talmud which to my understanding determines if you are a Jewish by your mother contrary to Torah. So when you say being "Jewish" was never a color thing you are partially correct. Just wouldn't use the term Jewish because Moses would have never heard that term in "Biblical times" No disrespect but im sure you both already knew your comment sections would be interesting lol. I always give the Drake example because he happens to encompass two Groups laying claim to this heritage. His father is of the Diaspora and we know many of them were Jews from Spain and West Africa. And his mother is a white Jewish woman. His father is black, drake is sort of black and his son is very white. All 3 would be of the same pedigree according to the fathers house all 3 are different colors now stretch that out over 3000 years. no way so called Jews or Jewish people would be all one color. love the content❤ shalom.

The fathers lineage determines tribe affiliation, but Ezra 10 the whole chapter makes it clear that membership of the nation of Israel is through the mother. So both parents are technically important.

I originally felt the desire bc the doctrine makes more sense in that it provides explanations on the meanings of Torah. Whereas Xristianity is based on believing in things you don’t understand. On the flip side of the coin, I stayed away bc of racism. Then I learned that blacks are the original Jews and the whites are the converts and this fact is based on Torah Gen 9:27, Gen 10:3, and Pirkei De Rabbi Eliezer 24 all confirms that descendants of Shem are black and descendants of Japheth are white. Me personally, I’ll never join any man made sect like Hasidic etc, simply bc you’ll never find it mentioned in Torah. Baal Shem Tov created that. Nice story though. Shalom

The term "Jews of color" is racist and divisive. My AncestryDNA test says I'm 99% Ashkenazi Jewish. My genes originate from ancient Israel. The ancient Jews had light skin just like the ancient Canaanites, Greeks, Assyrians, Babylonians, Phoenicians, and Romans. This kind of divisiveness is so negative that it argues against these kinds of conversions.
