STORY:
Heather returns with Unfinished Business - that business being finally admitting how much she loves Ronnie. And trying to do it in a way thats not... mean lol
I was originally going to have her at the end turn into a more "human" form again but... I like how she looks like this so that can happen off screen (or maybe now she's like Danny Phantom and sometimes can just Go Ghost lmfao)
Veronica's just thrilled that it's one less thing she has to feel as tremendously guilty about lol

To go more into it, if Martha can have known and hung out with Duke and Ram it is just as equally likely that Veronica and Heather knew each other. Veronica is Heather's "Kindergarten Girlfriend" if you will.
They start drifting apart in middle school when Veronica persists on hanging out with Martha instead of teaming up with her on her quest to become an uber popular kid (with help of hanging out with the rich kids like Heather Mac) she's pretty jaded that Veronica would chose Martha over her. Friendship ends poorly. An even more jaded Heather persists on her rise to the top of the food chain.
By the time they reach High School they are virtually unrecognizable to what they used to be. Veronica especially being much more withdrawn/antisocial which is why it took Heather a second to recognize her when V shows up in the bathroom with the hall pass in "Beautiful"
Despite their previous altercation, Veronica wants in on the group because she doesn't want to be bullied any more. And Heather is willing to take her in given her latent feelings and wants to make amends (Til V starts defending Martha again, and gets with JD)

Heather Chandler is not a nice person - obviously - in Veronica's own words she is a mythic bitch. Nothing I make is ever intended to excuse the things that these characters do but possibly get an idea of how they ended up being that way in the first place. To me Chandler was a girl who was desperate to be popular when she was younger and she clawed her way to the top by any means necessary. That's not really unlike Veronica - who asked to be part of the Heathers because she was tired of what not being popular was doing. In a reality where Veronica grew up choosing Martha over Chandler, I imagine that is where most of the animosity towards Martha came from (every one was making fun of everyone. But Heather seemed to be particular) and also why she was so willing to allow Veronica into the fold - she could have just as easily bullied her for those signatures instead of letting her hang with them. None of the characters are really all that good, most of them are objectively terrible in one way or another ((obviously)) but they are still young and learning. in Ronnie's word "They were just 17 they still had room to grow but now we'll never know" I think there are endless possibilities for any character with every choice that they make. Just like how if JD had gotten help for his mega huge depression/suicidal tendencies/anger issues then he and veronica might have had a chance with him getting healthy. Just like how its possible that Heather would have eventually grown out of being such a tool and tried to make up for all the bad things that she did. But we'll never know I suppose lol thats why it's all just theories

I love that as kids Veronica was a very light blue, and Heather C. was a very light pink, showing that they were different, but almost the same. Then as they grew older, Veronica starting turning into a darker blue, and Heather C. starting going from pink to red to a darker red. It really shows that as time went by their personalities started shaping into being completely different colors, and they lost their bond and their similarities. If this was an accident, you may as well call it a miracle, because that attention to detail is truly beautiful!

HEADCANON: During the whole show Heather D is the only Heather who has never done anything nice for Veronica(Heather C offered her to be one of the Heathers, Heather M was a cinnamon roll during "Lifeboat" and "Shine a light(reprise)" and sorta became her friend in the end). I have a headcanon that before joining the Heathers Heather D was kinda...a sarcastic nerd? I imagine C enjoying D's sence of humor, and that's the reason C got interested in her. Like, in middle school or freshman year. So, the situation Veronica was in "Beautiful" is kinda similar to what happend to D, and that's why D was always so negative about Veronica: she was afraid Veronica could replace her. Also D probably was interested in C(maybe even in romantic way), but C doesn't seems interested in her as much as she used to be when D became one of the Heathers(all this "shut up, Heather!" thing, C ignoring D's opinion during whole show), she is more interested in Veronica. Heather D is jelous and that another reason for her to dislike Veronica. bonus: D's bulimia is a result of her trying to fit into beauty standarts, probably even in order to make C like her again(if you look closed D is actually the thickest of all 3 Heathers+Veronica, and even though she's obviously not as fat as Martha, i still imagine her being curvier&thicker than most popular girls are)

@@chamomiletea1286 actually, i DEFINITELY do think duke cared for chandler like what the other guy's headcanon is, but their friendship dwindled in a different way. Going back to the basis of the movie, the heathers started with chandler and mcnamara and solidified when duke came in. Because, we all know that the heathers werent friends yet with each other until high school (hell, in the movie, martha and duke were actually friends in kindergarden). My guess is that at the time of the formation of the heathers, it was mcnamara who boosted chandler's ego because she hang out with her so much and practically looked up to her (although later on we find in lifeboat this was mostly out of fear of being unpopular) so by the time duke rolls around, chandler is already a bitch, expecting to be worshipped and goggled at by her peers. My guess is that duke having "no discernable personality" was actually her first personality before she became a heather, and looked to chandler for comfort kinda like mcnamara but was then toxicated by chandler's egotistical look on herself. Because chandler snubbed all her opinions and everything she said that was out of line "shut up, heather!" I feel like she kinda just wanted to avenge herself for it. Maybe in the beginning, she wasnt or didnt want to be a bitch, but it because fame got to chandler's head, it also kinda affected her too, like she thought that the only way she could be seen (and not just *noticed* like when she was under chandler) was to be exactly how chandler was; a bitch. She was just better at it.

I know this is a rather old video, but it’s this, the aftermath and the cold slurpee that have given me a much deeper appreciation for the characters of Heathers. I had already acknowledged the flaws and virtues of each character, but your videos have definitely made me feel more sympathetic towards all of them. i never thought of heather c and veronica being childhood friends before seeing this, and i feel like it would explain so much if that's the case. and seeing heather's spirit hug veronica made me so emotional cause i've always wanted to see that growth of her and see her be better. this video gave me the closure i never knew i needed, plus the amazing animation made it even better. fantastic job!!
