He also has displayed more knowledge on space.time ninjutsu than any character in the series during the battle with kaguya , implying that he is essentially a space time ninjutsu expert after being trained by Minato and u locking kamui as a child .

If you remember in the first part when Itachi and Kakashi faced off, although Kakashi could see Itachi's clone, (thanks to the Sharingan) he didn't know that Itachi's clones could explode, so he caught him by surprise. Itachi's clones are legendary, unpredictable and unique, they can always catch you by surprise even in the smallest of seconds. Also, how can you leave out the fact that Itachi has an unpredictable way of fighting style approach and the forbidden Izanami technique, which is made to combat abusive Izanagi users, Itachi is very unique and authentic, especially in the factor of facing various encounters approach, his unpredictability in his way of fighting style approach it's his key factor in all of his encounters. You need to stop downplaying Itachi's way of fighting style approach, in my opinion their encounter could go either way, both of them can win against each other If you ask me. What many have forgotten is the very unpredictable factor of Itachi's fighting style: the way Itachi could beat Obito in my opinion is as follows: The Explosive Clone Tactic: Obito absorbs a clone and gets wrecked from both sides. Itachi's clone feints are legendary and unique, his clones can also explode, which we've seen from the Konan battle can be a problem for Obito to defend against. Now, if Obito can make full use of the Rinnegan, things could be different, but by his own admission, he was barely able to handle even a single Rinnegan's power, so it's unlikely he could use the full arsenal that he never showed. Obito can't fight without physical contact. Having knowledge of Izanami doesn't prevent it from happening (it is the most sublte jutsu we've ever seen), because any kind of sensation they share can be set as the anchor and there is no way of knowing which. All Obito can do is to either avoid all kinds of physical contact, and he can't fight like that, or he can just try to refrain from repeating an action more than once which is near impossible with his one trick pony skillset. Here are the things that make Itachi so formidable. Tsukuyomi - A genjutsu so powerful that you literally can't escape it unless you have the same blood as Itachi, as stated by Itachi himself and proven later by Sasuke, or you're a jinchuriki. Jinchuriki are supposed to be immune to genjutsu but it hasn't been proven, but when Bee was fighting Edo Nagato and Itachi with Naruto, he said to watch out for Tsukuyomi explicitly. Literally 99% of all opponents fighting Itachi have no way of stopping Tsukuyomi. You could have the power to split the planet in half and it wouldn't matter. (Want to know why? - Kakashi pretty much state it in the actual anime and manga that Tsukuyomi it's such a dangerous Genjutsu Technique because it happen in a instant, even if you realize that you are trapped in the Tsukuyomi, it will be too late, because Itachi could approach you (or his Explosive Clone) during that time in the real world and he can finish you before you can even realize, - 72 hours in Tsukuyomi realm means 1 second or a couple of seconds in the real world. Tsukuyomi can't be broken, when used to it's fullest.) The Sword of Totsuka and Yata Mirror - The Susanoo itself is a near invincible defense but these two weapons take it to the next step. The Sword of Totsuka can seal "anything" if it even touches it. It's completely OP. It's hard to fight a guy that can seal you away if his sword even touches you. The Yata Mirror is even a bigger deal in my opinion. It doesn't block attacks, it's "negates" them. You could throw an Amaterasu covered Bijuu bomb at Itachi and the Yata mirror will negate it, making it so the Susanoo doesn't even need to take a blow. You could punch the Yata mirror and the force will completely be negated. His biggest strength of all: tactical intelligence - Itachi always outsmarts and plans for everything because the plot demands it. You're physically strong? Itachi is already 2 steps ahead of you knowing exactly what to do. You're extremely fast? Again, 2 steps. You're going to try and outlast Itachi in a fight? Good luck. To add to this, some of the 3 most powerful techniques in the verse are due to his intelligence and planning ability; Izanami, Izanagi, and Kotoamatsukami. Izanami - A forbbiden genjutsu technique that allows you to alter someone's destiny. Impossible to break out of even if you know you're in a genjutsu without complying with the users set destiny for you. Even someone like Bee, a perfect Jinchuriki, can't escape Izanami unless he does what Itachi wants him to. Izanagi - You somehow gained an advantage over Itachi? He makes it so that advantage never happened. Kotoamatsukami - Though Shisui's technique, Itachi has his eye which effectively makes it his weapon. A genjutsu so powerful that the person it's cast on doesn't even know they're under a genjutsu. Like the Tsukuyomi, completely OP. To add to all of this, Itachi is pretty good/exceptional at hand to hand combat, is great with shuriken, is extremely fast, is great with regular fire techniques, is slippery and unpredictable, and has the extremely dangerous and fast Genjutsu style of fighting approach that can caught you off guard almost at any time, even If the opposite opponent is an Uchiha. With all of these things considered you've got one dangerous ninja. This is why Kishimoto basically had to give him a handicap: Naruto AIDS.

Even if Itachi is basically a pacifist, that doesn't mean that he can't mobilize and adapt in an unnatural situation, especially if the confrontation is a serious one, he prefers most of the time to finish the fights as quickly as possible, that's why Itachi should never be underestimated. Itachi lived his whole life so that Sasuke could defeat him and become an Uchiha hero as well as a hero of the leaf. That, obviously, didn’t go as planned. However, it did allow Sasuke to grow and begin to start asking the right questions that would eventually lead him to becoming the man he (Itachi) wanted him to be. (Itachi was killed so that Sasuke could grow more powerful both as a character (to us in a real world moral sense) and as a Ninja. Itachi from the get go was extremely talented which more precisly means that Itachi just like Minato was pretty much an unique, authentic and especially unpredictable Shinobi which could exceed or overcome almost any expectations. (at least that's what we were shown in the anime by the creator Masashi Kishimoto himself) In my opinion No One in the series should underestimate such an unpredictable Shinobi like Itachi, even Madara (I won't say that Itachi can beat him, but at least he will be pretty much able to put a decent fight that Madara will also be impressed in my opinion). That is why it is arguable/debatable that he probably could or could not defeat foes like Minato, Obito or Pain/Nagato. Itachi was also a prodigy from birth and he knew all sorts of tricks and he's definitely a troublesome fellow to encounter. In my opinion, they are both very versatile, unique, interesting and especially very unpredictable in their way of fighting style approach. If you make an effort to look or to rewatch at all of Itachi's fights, you might discover that he's pretty much always able to outsmart anyone during a fight or a encounter, because of his unpredictability in his way of fighting style approach. His way of thinking and his calmness, intelligence and battle IQ experience factor it's very authentic and underrated, his true potential remain still unknown, because he wasn't go all out against anyone during the series.🤷🏻‍♂️☯️ I don't understand how some of you guys even dare or can to underestimate Itachi like that, many of you guys forget that Itachi isn't just any ordinary shinobi either, he is still considered by a very wide range of Naruto connoisseurs to be a very unique and unpredictable character at the same time and no one should underestimate him as some of you guys currently do. ;/ ☯️🤷🏻‍♂️What you have to remember, is that even in his battle with Sasuke, he has been fighting to lose. Itachi has always attempted to avoid conflict at all costs. He has to maintain his cover as an Akatsuki member, so he has to make viable excuses to avoid battle. When he says that fighting Jiraiya would have serious consequences, we know that he has an innate desire not to fight anyone at all, let alone a hero of the leaf, and he was a spy protecting Konoha from shadows. He could have killed Kakashi with ease. Kakashi even states that Itachi could have killed him, and wondered why he didn't. Knowing this, it is easy to see the pieces that point to a picture of Itachi that is devastatingly powerful in combat. In his confrontation with Asuma and Kurenai when he enters Konoha, we see him send Kurenai flying a large distance with a simple kick. We also see him deflect chidori, and snap Sasuke's arm like a twig with a single hand. He also sends Sasuke flying clear down the hallway with another kick in this fight. He is obviously a powerful, versatile, unpredictable and underrated taijutsu user. We know that he can kill with a glance using Tsukuyomi or Amaterasu, and become nearly invincible with his Susanoo. We see him use exploding clones, (it's his one of his unpredictability in his fighting way approach) powerful genjutsu not linked to his sharingan, ( with a single point of a one of his fingers) and making hand seals at insane speeds. He kicks the shit out of Kakashi and he barely moves. Tobi also tells us himself that Itachi could have killed him if it weren't for carefully guarded secrets. Orochimaru beats Tsunade and Jiraiya without the use of his arms. Granted, Jiraiya was drugged, but it's still the point. Orochimaru couldn't use seals at all. Itachi obliterated Orochimaru effortlessly. Itachi has been a step above from the beginning. In order for him to keep his cover in Akatsuki, he had to avoid conflict without arousing suspicion, and the best way to do that was to present himself as being much less powerful than he actually is. The one thing we have been able to see in detail, is his intelligence and unpredictability in his fighting way approach. Itachi has been shown to be able to plan events years in advance, to account for possible flaws in his plans with powerful contingencies, and to use every possibility to his advantage. Shikamaru plans a few hours in advance, and we label him a tactical genius. If that is the case, what does one even call Itachi? The only real flaws that Itachi possesses is a smaller chakra reserves, and his own morality which keeps him from gaining Eternal Mangekyo. But even the chakra is arguable. What many have forgotten is the very unpredictable factor of Itachi's fighting style: the way Itachi could beat Obito in my opinion is as follows: The Explosive Clone Tactic: Obito absorbs a clone and gets wrecked from both sides. Itachi's clone feints are legendary and unique, his clones can also explode, which we've seen from the Konan battle can be a problem for Obito to defend against. Now, if Obito can make full use of the Rinnegan, things could be different, but by his own admission, he was barely able to handle even a single Rinnegan's power, so it's unlikely he could use the full arsenal that he never showed. Obito can't fight without physical contact. Having knowledge of Izanami doesn't prevent it from happening (it is the most sublte jutsu we've ever seen), because any kind of sensation they share can be set as the anchor and there is no way of knowing which. All Obito can do is to either avoid all kinds of physical contact, and he can't fight like that, or he can just try to refrain from repeating an action more than once which is near impossible with his one trick pony skillset. Here are the things that make Itachi so formidable. Tsukuyomi - A genjutsu so powerful that you literally can't escape it unless you have the same blood as Itachi, as stated by Itachi himself and proven later by Sasuke, or you're a jinchuriki. Jinchuriki are supposed to be immune to genjutsu but it hasn't been proven, but when Bee was fighting Edo Nagato and Itachi with Naruto, he said to watch out for Tsukuyomi explicitly. Literally 99% of all opponents fighting Itachi have no way of stopping Tsukuyomi. You could have the power to split the planet in half and it wouldn't matter. (Want to know why? - Kakashi pretty much state it in the actual anime and manga that Tsukuyomi it's such a dangerous Genjutsu Technique because it happen in a instant, even if you realize that you are trapped in the Tsukuyomi, it will be too late, because Itachi could approach you (or his Explosive Clone) during that time in the real world and he can finish you before you can even realize, - 72 hours in Tsukuyomi realm means 1 second or a couple of seconds in the real world. Tsukuyomi can't be broken, when used to it's fullest.) The Sword of Totsuka and Yata Mirror - The Susanoo itself is a near invincible defense but these two weapons take it to the next step. The Sword of Totsuka can seal "anything" if it even touches it. It's completely OP. It's hard to fight a guy that can seal you away if his sword even touches you. The Yata Mirror is even a bigger deal in my opinion. It doesn't block attacks, it's "negates" them. You could throw an Amaterasu covered Bijuu bomb at Itachi and the Yata mirror will negate it, making it so the Susanoo doesn't even need to take a blow. You could punch the Yata mirror and the force will completely be negated. His biggest strength of all: tactical intelligence - Itachi always outsmarts and plans for everything because the plot demands it. You're physically strong? Itachi is already 2 steps ahead of you knowing exactly what to do. You're extremely fast? Again, 2 steps. You're going to try and outlast Itachi in a fight? Good luck. To add to this, some of the 3 most powerful techniques in the verse are due to his intelligence and planning ability; Izanami, Izanagi, and Kotoamatsukami. Izanami - A forbbiden genjutsu technique that allows you to alter someone's destiny. Impossible to break out of even if you know you're in a genjutsu without complying with the users set destiny for you. Even someone like Bee, a perfect Jinchuriki, can't escape Izanami unless he does what Itachi wants him to. Izanagi - You somehow gained an advantage over Itachi? He makes it so that advantage never happened. Kotoamatsukami - Though Shisui's technique, Itachi has his eye which effectively makes it his weapon. A genjutsu so powerful that the person it's cast on doesn't even know they're under a genjutsu. Like the Tsukuyomi, completely OP. To add to all of this, Itachi is pretty good/exceptional at hand to hand combat, is great with shuriken, is extremely fast, is great with regular fire techniques, is slippery and unpredictable, and has the extremely dangerous and fast Genjutsu style of fighting approach that can caught you off guard almost at any time, even If the opposite opponent is an Uchiha. In Itachi's case he wouldn't notice that it's a clone until it's too late, and he already would get hit by the explosion of Itachi's Clone. And we know Itachi that in character, If the fight is serious, he doesn't messing around. Itachi knew Kotoamatsukami because of his crow that had Shisui’s eye and litterally avoided getting controlled by Kabuto’s Reanimation. This isnt a really fair comparison if we are trying to talk about personal potential, all things considered. Obito had 1 eye, but he also had senju DNA and Itachi was dying. Senju dna makes more difference than losing an eye - you can still use MS skills while missing both eyes. So Obito had MAJOR exterior advantages in not being sick and having senju dna to allow him to spam his MS abilities. If we take away itachi’s sickness, give him senju dna and give Obito his second eye Id strongly favour itachi.
