As Alan got it right, the whole process of making the kueh is of significant importance in order to deliver the right / perfect final product. Unfortunately, I was at their Bugis junction and was craving for their 9-layer cake. However, the staff told me that it was sold out and offered me to take the set which was sampler of 4 different kuehs, with a small plate of glutinous rice and a cup of coffee. I had reluctantly accepted it as the serving was little too much as I had my lunch earlier. To my disappointment, there was no 9-layer cake in the combo sample plate (even though the menu photo showed one), and the kuehs were badly cutted and presented. The glutinous rice was dry and lumpy (I did't even eat it). It left me a bad experience as I aways enjoyed nonya kuehs from HarrisAnn. I guess the whole process of making kueh can be as perfect as you can, but the last mile delivery by untrained staff spoiled the final product!

Ondeh ondeh origins are not from Peranakan. Basically most if not all kuih are not from Peranakan. Maybe need to fact check the history before making such a sweeping statement.

Ang Ku Kueh (红龟粿）also is another food Peranakan claim is theirs which is actually of Chinese origin. People in Fujian still make them. Many Chinese cakes are known as kueh (粿 ）in Hokkien. These desserts are made of rice flour or glutinous rice flour either with filling inside (汤圆） or steamed in layers （蒸粿）albeit with different flavours. They also have 碗粿 steamed in bowls. Kueh in China has both savoury or sweet flavours and of many types and designs.
