I would love to see an adoption update. Not the girls’ stories or specifics on that, but updates on how you and Phil feel about adoption now, what would you have done different, why wouldn’t you chose to do it again, etc. I love that you both have respected the privacy of your children’s stories and I would love to learn more about adoption from you both.

I’ve been following your beautiful story for years. I always wonder why you don’t pursue embryo adoption. I’m pretty sure you’ve mentioned it briefly in passing, but nothing specifically holding you back. The way it melds the beauty of adoption with experiencing pregnancy seems very in line with your unique family. The NEDC has a program in Knoxville that offers wonderful options. So many embryos are frozen, just waiting for a chance to know life. I see God’s hand in that plan. Praying for your journey. Thank you for sharing updates! ❤

STOP! Don't trim grapes until winter. My son is a Cornell educated viticulturist who manages a prestigious vineyard out west. He planted a small arbor for me a few years ago (Finger Lakes NY area where it gets very cold.) He taught me. Leave 2 (possibly 3) strongest canes. (whips.) Trim carefully- take your time. The goal is to leave several(at least 3, maybe more) healthy nodes on the leaders that will be trained up over your trellis system. Tie them to the wires (trellis) with twist ties. Look online for the tie method- important not to strangle a vine. If it is very cold there, you will want to cover any graft union at the base of the plant with some soil for the winter. Fertilize before bud set next spring- use a ratio high in nitrogen as grapes really exhaust the soil- and epsom salts are also great for grapes.

I had fertility issues also. I was blessed with 3 healthy kids. We would’ve loved 5, but God had a different plan for us.. we now have 11 grandkids!! So in looking back, our family did turn into a large one!! I have also been blessed with a house full of kids as ALL 11 live close by & our house is where everyone lands!!! Just wait for those grand babies.. just when I thought couldn’t possibly love any kids more then my own, grandkids make my heart just as full 💕👶🏻💕 Your home is going to be that kind of house.. they will all come back to roost for sure!!

I feel you Alex. I went through 5 failed ivf cycles and 3 failed transfers 😢 I had to come to the terms just speaking for myself here, that God has another plan for me. I have a handsome 13yr and I’m so blessed to have him. We’re doing foster to adopt. It’s a long process but it will be worth it in the end. Have you and Philip talked about adopting again or maybe fostering?

I mean no unkindness, but I totally disagree. She will remain unhappy and unfulfilled until they let it go. Otherwise, be grateful for your many blessings.

Friend, You are not alone. It was a 7 year journey from first prayer to ending up here. Many many days, I just wanted to pack up and leave without a plan. (Don't do that). other days, I saw the sunshine as a blessing. A verse comes to mind for you - "28See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you-you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Matthew 6:28-33 When you seek the kingdom things that are right in front of you, the doors will open and close so perfectly that one day you will look back and see the splendor of the big picture. You got this! Keep the faith! - Phil

Yes, Kinsley, we get SNOW where I live in Michigan!! I live near Lake Michigan, so we get that "lake effect" snow. It dumps and dumps on us during the winter! I once had 5' piles of snow on each side of my driveway after shoveling myself out after a 3 day snow storm! It's kind of cool... but also SO much work all winter long. It makes me tired, and a little grumpy sometimes, to be honest. I need snow helpers! Haha

They do focus on their children, wanting to have more is not bad. Praying for a miracle is something to hold on to hope. Why not just be supportive? I remember a time in my life I was told I would never have children, it broke me inside where no one could see. God blessed me with my babies & I hate seeing the pain of someone who has this deep pain of wanting a big family but not being able to have children naturally. That pain is raw, it kills a piece of you every time someone tells them to focus on what they have! It is probably the rudest thing to say to someone that wants a baby so bad they hurt. You think because they share their lives with us that your words don't hurt them, they do. Please don't be that person that basically slaps their face every time they say they long for another child. There is absolutely nothing wrong with them wanting a big family & it most certainly doesn't affect your life. So please be kind to those with a longing because someday it may be someone you love going through the journey.

Kingsley I live in Australia - in Victoria, in a little town called Gilderoy 3797 - you should ask mum or dad to help you find it on google maps. But we don't have snow, we have frost sometimes. We are heading into Summer and it usually is hot, around 30-40ish Celsius. Our winters usually don't go below 0 Celsius. Our paddocks usually stay green, but sometimes when it is really hot they go yellow and quite a few years ago we had terrible bushfires, we were safe but some people lost their homes. We love living in Australia, but would love to travel as well. xxx

I know how much you loved being pregnant with Cassidy, and ideally that would be the route you grow your family, but are you guys considering other options too? Obviously you guys grown your family in multiple ways already, but would you ever consider embryo adoption or fostering to adopt? I know there is no “right” answer since everyone is different. I was just curious.
@ga6589
@ga6589 10 ай бұрын
I think you have to be very careful with using the word "ideally" when referring to ways to grow a family. It's a very real thing for adopted children to feel that they were not the "ideal" choice if the parents had been struggling to have biological kids. They may feel not only rejected by birth mother, but also just a second best choice for the adoptive parents. Every child processes these things differently and you cannot assume anything. My husband and I adopted two children as infants after struggling with infertility for many years. They're both now grown with their own families. It has been an absolutely wonderful experience and we couldn't love them more or be more proud of them. If we had it to do over, the only thing we would do differently is have ongoing family and individual counseling from an adoption-competent therapist from the get-go. It would've have helped us navigate some challenges along the way, especially when the kids got into their teen years.

Kinsley, I live 30-45 min away from a dozen ski resorts. We get a lot of snow. A lot. I've always lived in here in this town and I love it. Shoveling snow is hard at times. But FULL ALL 4 SEASONS is worth it. I have a 40' fence with concord grapes and I just canned 82 quarts of juice using 4 juice steamers. Whew! We trim early spring. And not full on Napa valley trim cuz I think that's ridiculous, lol. ??-A2 or A1 milk cows? A2 has changed my life. Thanks for update.

My oldest son and his wife waited till they were 40 and 42 to have their first baby, and boyohboy is that adorable baby loved and doted on. I'm hoping they add a little brother or sister soon, fingers crossed! Nowdays, 40's don't seem too old to become parents anymore.

There are as many choices as people in the world. And each of them are correct for them at that specific time of their lives. People can have kids at 20, 30, 40, 50... there is no wrong or right. May the Lord bless your journey, sweetie ❤️🙏🏻

Kinsley, I live in Michigan. We had our 1st snow fall on Halloween. It was gone the next day. Today its in the 50's and we have a 60 day coming up. We enjoy these last days of fall because once the cold and snow come it will stick around until April. Sometimes we get a little snow in May. Enjoy your day and God Bless!

Hi, Kingsley - I’m in Corpus Christi, TX. We are still fairly warm here. It does get cooler in the winter, sometimes even a slight freeze. Winters seem to be foggy here. I haven’t lived here long, as I came from Kansas, where we did get a lot of snow and ice. I’m like you, I love warm and sunny weather.

Kinsley … I am from South Africa. Our winters are very mild and we on a rare occasion wear jackets and gloves during winter. Our summers are HOT! Our temperature is measured in Celsuis. Our summers go up to 104 degrees Fahrenheit. It gets sooo hot during the afternoons that we have to go inside otherwise the heat will get to us. We never get snow and frost very rarely. You should try and convince your parents so you guys can come and visit South Africa. I live on a farm with wild animals such as zebra, blesbuck, impala and nyala.

I thought about growing things like bell peppers 🫑, but have no idea how to keep them fresh after picking for the winter. Can you do a video about that? Your dog will love having another dog friend! Our two dogs love each other. ❤ Also: Had my second at 39 (almost 40) years and he is fabulous! You have time! As for questions I still wonder if you are pursuing adoption as an option activity or if that’s something you are going to think about later.

I agree with you Alex about the detriment of the current generation, we’ve stopped skipping commercials for our 3yo when watching streaming services. He started demanding us to skip them so we realized we needed to teach him some waiting/patience.

Hi Kinsley 😊 I live in the middle of Sweden in Scandinavia, and although the snow have melted away now, our first snow for this season fell in about two weeks ago. We got about 2-2,5 ft of snow in two days!😱 The wintertemperature hadn't set in yet then, so now it's cold and no snow on the ground... I'm not really a winterperson, so I'm more like you, Kinsley😊..I feel a little bit better when it's warmer. But, the seasons cannot be avoided, so..😅.. On the bright side, the days get a bit brighter when there's snow on the ground!👍😊❤️

I am in Northern California and no we do not get snow. Once in a blue moon, we get snow but it’s super rare. If we want snow, we have to drive two hours to the mountains, and they only have snow occasionally depending on the weather.

We get frosts here, usually in Spring (which we are now - Southern Hemisphere), we never had a frost last week which is super late! But we very rarely get snow. Nothing at all this winter, but had a few flurries last winter! Also, Kinsley, feel free to come visit us in NZ, we are just coming into Summer!
