Who is the first MILLION POUND Women's footballer?!? 👀💰

Meet Uma Gurav from TalkSPORT. She's recently done a piece on who will be the first women's million pound footballer. An English superstar like Lauren James perhaps? What about Bonmati? Or Linda Caicedo? Also, when will it happen? As women's football goes from strength to strength and transfers increase, surely it's possible it could happen this window?

we might see a few players leaving Barça as they are A) skint and B) have an amazing academy at La Masia, as everyone knows. For example they could let Aitana leave, get over a million for her, and promote Dragoni to the senior team, probably without too much disruption. I think Mariona will definitely be leaving anyway, maybe to Arsenal. Part of the reason we haven't seen many big transfer fees is that female footballers have much shorter contracts than the men, so we'd have to see them being given longer contracts before big fees start to make sense.

Write an article on how many women footballers are out (or have been out) with acl injuries. I'm quite surprised at the number of women who get that injury and I wonder if it's different than the men. Also, I wonder if more can be done to prevent that injury.

Hello Shebahn. I reckon the young players who have been raised in a professional era are more likely to be the stars in a couple of years than the current generation. Look at how Manchester City bought the best available youngsters in January to teach them to play the way they want. If they win the league, rather than Chelsea, with Arsenal out of the running, this tells the people, probably men, with the money that this is the way rather than splashing the cash. With Ella Toone's boyfriend a City fan, can she do the wonder stuff two weeks running and make it so?

Because of the position they play, a Bonmati will help a team to be champion much more effectively then a Lauren James! If you are a American, it is the difference between a quarterback and a running back or a guard vs a forward in basketball! no offense, based on her performance, I think Lauren James barely make it to top 10 women footballer in the world! as for who might/worth million pound transfer in 2024, I say Aitana Bonmati, Sam Kerr, maybe Caroline Hansen if it is my money being spend!

I think Kerr and CGH are awesome footballers but you forgot their age. Who will pay £1 million for players who are 29 and 31? I think it will be players 27 years old and below. However I'm not surprised if NWSL pay almost US$1 million to bring Kerr or CGH over. 😊

We don’t need to pay to hire Meadow Park next season! That in itself will save a lot of money and we will make so much revenue from match days. It might be too soon to pack out a stadium for every home match but I think we will come close!

@@RobinPalmerTVI considered this however, to Meads credit, she’s a professional and football, as much as we may dislike it, is a business. She’s being paid by both Arsenal and their sponsors so can’t really approach it with any other mentality. I do however think this signals a future move and I’ve no doubt she’s privately reeling. @shebahn mentioned Beth’s social media posts being deleted in a previous video too sadly.

It wouldn’t be impossible to have a longish distance relationship I guess, but I get the impression they really like spending all their time together along with Pelova in tow… time will tell! I just hope FA player shows us any presentation made to Viv before or after including seeing the fan signs etc etc. It’s a pity the Swedish man isn’t going instead but he’s not the type to build a team around one player when she’s not her usual consistent self.

Uma Gurav is really smart does great work doing the WSL weekend wraps on the Women's Football Weekly Podcast. Like Uma said about Aitana not wanting to leave Barcelona because she is a culer and loves Barca obviously I think she underestimates Lauren James affection for Chelsea even though she was at United she was in Chelsea's academy and loves the club and it's a dream for her to play for Chelsea plus we bumped her contract just last year👀

@Keith-pb3hi I love how the American women dominated the World Cup for a decade, and now that spain won America has apparently fallen off. I'm not counting out the Americans. Football is not Europe centric when it comes to womens football.

@@stevieg5907 Actually USA dominated for more than a decade. I like how other countries are supporting their women's football now and there is more competition. Years ago, women had to juggle a few jobs so that they can survive playing football. Some play football part time and study full time. Some gave up. Some have to chip in money to book the pitch, pay the referees. Some had to raise funds. The US had it comfortable with strong support, college football. Full time playing with good medical care. Hence I feel they should always be grateful and not drag in woke politics, disrespect the national anthem. I'm not a US hater. They are still a good and respectable team but I don't see them as the best. However the NWSL has great fans. 👍🏻☺️

@Keith-pb3hi I never said they were the best. My point was they shouldn't be discounted. A lot of fans act like womens football begin in the last 3 years. I understand liking European football more than American right now, but America has some of the best players in the world. Just because people in Europe find it an inconvenience to watch the NWSL doesn't mean it's not a quality league.
