You said exactly what I'd have said. KRO. Wayne Rooney is the reason we went down. Yes, the owners made a mistake in him and the players should have done better, but Rooney threw winning style out of the window and arrogantly stuck to his guns. Waited to be sacked rather than resigning when it was clear he couldn't do the job. And still blamed THE FANS 😮 Relegation is on him. Rowett proved the players could do it, given belief, etc. Norwich beaten play off semi finalists and we beat them. Rooney's team would have been soundly beaten.

Last season I went through this experience for the first time with my club, Santos FC. A club that once had Pelé, who died the same year the club was relegated, Neymar, Rodrygo and many other players are now in the Brazilian second division. When we lost the game in the last round and our fate was confirmed, I confess I wasn't very sad. But a few months later, when the Brazilian championship started and I saw that Santos wouldn't be there, I discovered that our disaster was really real. I feel sorry for Birmingham, such a traditional club like others in English football that cannot stay in the top division. We will all come back stronger one day. When I began following football around the end of the 70s/beginning of the 80s, Birmingham City were a top flight club with Archie Gemmill, Mark Dennis, Frank Worthington, Dave Langan, Jeff Wealands & Alan Curbishley on their books & the late, great "Bald Eagle" Jim Smith in charge. The West Midlands had more top tier clubs than London at that time (Villa,B'ham,Coventry,WBA & Wolves, whereas London only had Arsenal, Palace & Spurs). Doesn't seem possible, knowing that a rathole like London never has less than 6 clubs in the PL at any one time now (currently with 7 clubs). Jim Smith did a marvellous job at Newcastle with literally no money available & I still rate the Eagle as an underrated legend...

yes relegation is gutting as I been there with my team and this is where a team that goes down has to show resilience in the next season in adapting to the new conditions but with clubs like Birmingham should bounce back. I mean my team is Ipswich and we spent 4 years in league one and until circumstances changed like new owners which was the one thing we needed as Evens was running the club into the ground but with the perseverance and building back the fans faith in the club and being wise with what we spent the money on makes all the difference and our fortunes have turned. Remember we were out the premiership 22 years ago. I will say that Birmingham did the same thing as Ipswich with having a manager who name is more famous than their coaching qualities. We had Roy Keane and look at what he did and I will say that in the same comparison to Birmingham. Birmingham is a club that should have never gone down, but it bad choice in choosing Rooney was the start of a spiral and having too many changes in management does not help the players either as they have to keep adapting to each manager styles from scratch and leaves them unsettled.

Always love your vlogs, it’s a shame the one you do on my club is about us going down. Hope you come back in brighter times.

As a Pompey fan I really hope Birmingham City go up at the first time of asking because League One is a hard league to get out of. Just ask the likes of Ipswich Town, Coventry City,Sheffield Wednesday, Derby County,Bolton Wanderers and a few other 'upper tier' teams. Once you miss out on the first season,it becomes a nightmare.

surprised you came to small heath, im glad you have though, im only 16 and cant remeber the prem at all, over the last years we have not finished above 17th , Matt touched on our owners, but they were bad as you know with your past owners. If we went down last yea i would not have a team to support, so to be honest im glad its happend now, Blues ground had been in disrepair, and im sure you know all about it and the fact the owners have already put millions into the club, unlike the proven criminals before who didnt do anything to the club. I thinking next season we wont get promoted unfortunatly but thats typical blues, ill still be there, home and even more away as ill be in college KRO i hope you get promoted as of this message it has literally kicked of . Up the blues and i cant believe Villa are champions league

This is disappointing. For years, I've been hoping that Birmingham City would find their way back to the top (partly because the Birmingham derby is amazing), but now that's a whole step farther away.
