A bit much to blame Hitler for all the deaths of WW2 when not all of it are by his country. He's a villain to be sure, but adding the tolls of other nations onto him is blame shifting.
@Nikolapoleon6 ай бұрын
True, but, at the end of the day it's kind of impossible to reliably pin statistically significant amounts of death or suffering on any leader, since the ways in which we define culpability is so subjective... so, I'm okay with it. For instance, it's generally accepted that sixty million wrongful/preventable deaths occurred in China under Mao, but does that really mean Mao killed sixty million people? How many were killed on his orders, how many died as a direct result of his policies, and how many died as a result of the ensuing "snowball effect?" [That is, famine caused by supply chain breakdown as a result of deaths that had already occurred, or even outside sanctions?] Is Mao directly to blame for all of those deaths? I would argue, if you answer yes, then you likewise have to blame Hitler for all the deaths of WWII, since the world war is the result of a "snowball effect" caused by his actions. Conversely, if you answered no, then the alleged death count of dozens of twentieth century tyrants goes down to just a small fraction of what is usually attribute to them.

My grandmother always shared stories with me and my brother about the 1970s, a time when life was incredibly tough. She had to take care of eight children, my aunts and uncles, during a period of immense hardship. Remarkably, they all survived. Tragically, my grandfather did not. Before the rise of Pol Pot's regime, he worked for the Ministry of Agriculture. When someone discovered his occupation, he was executed (Pol Pot's soldiers . kill anyone who had connections with the old government). This loss absolutely devasted my grandmother. She still cried when she brought him up 45 years later. The most haunting part of her story wasn't just his death alone. In their darkest moments, my grandparents considered ending their own lives, along with their children's, with poison to escape the horrors. It's unimaginable how desperate their situation must have been for such thoughts to enter their minds. Don't know who'll read this. Pol Pot was no Communist. He believed in agrarianism, that is why he collectivised agriculture, but you know nationalising agriculture doesn't make you a communist, he stood against the working peoples' of the cities and herded everyone from the cities to the countryside which is you known not very communist either, he was anti imperialism, but was also an imperialist himself as he wanted to restore the Khmer empire, he had anti French sentiment, which is kinda understandable as they were Cambodia's former colonial overlords but he was also anti Vietnamese and Laotian, killed thousands of them which is you know being a Cambodian nationalist and waging a racial war against them doesn't scream that you are spreading internationalism as communism should, hindered their war against US imperialism, while receiving aid from the USA and China who was at the time kinda aligned with the usa, he purged the intellectuals, one of the 3 founding pillars of communism and stood against all science. We was no more than an opportunist who did whatever he wanted in order to suit whatever of his needs. And communism was merely a cover, a good marketing slogan to market his brand and to make people stand with him, being a communist only in symbolism but nowhere else. He was not a communist and he is a stain on the name of the ideology and it is a shame that his name will forever be falsely attributed to communism, despite never being one.

He wasn't communist. He used the label of communism, but what he did had nothing to with what Marx and Engels had developed or Lenin tried to do in practise.

Man we have people like nero in history.. Even ignoring the fact that he was completly insane, he murdured himself both his wives, kill his unborn child in the process, roamed around with the head of his first wife to be able to gloat about it, kidnapped, castrated and married a man because he looked like his second wife, he laughed and partied while Rome was ablazed and killed his mother, forced people to label him as his heir then force them to kill themselves and shit like that He killed less people but he was way pore vicious and violent in his way of doing things, not to mention he didn't have an agenda, he did all that because he just felt like it

The evilest thing to do is to make people evil. So, worse than kill is to make someone killer, and worse than lie is to make someone lier,...etc.

If Hitler is accountable for all the deaths of ww2, then shouldn't stalin also be held accountabel too? He aided Germany in invading Poland and also supplied him with all the resources he needed for the first two years of the war+all the crimes he commited after.

I think inflicting suffering without even the intention of doing something good for somebody else is even more evil, therefore I would argue Thomas Midgley, inventor and adherent of leaded gasoline, was more evil
