Arsenal have never been widely hated. They have been historically highly respected as a footballing entity but also through their business conduct. The memes and banter were more to do with Arsenal being nowhere near where they should be and fans giving it back for the years of torment Arsenal caused them in the noughties.

Chelsea over-inflated the market due to huge spending over the past 20 years and offering ridiculous wages that most clubs can't even get near, and they're still doing it now. That's why it's not being mentioned. Chelsea had a dodgy owner (mates with Putin) and tapped up other clubs' players to get them to sign for them.
