The animal that we know as moose is called "elk" in Europe (I think its scientific name is Alces alces, which is presumably related). The animal that we call elk (or wapiti, if you're feeling feisty) is closely related to the Eurasian "red deer" -- they used to be considered the same species, although I don't think that's the case anymore

As a huge Weakest Link fan and an owner of the American version of this game, I can confirm that the faces used for the contestants in the US version are exactly the same, though the names are different and some of the jobs are adjusted. Also, to anyone else who decides to play this game, I strongly recommend setting the "Voting Abuse" to "More." Anne Robinson recorded specialized insults for every single contestant for when you're eliminated.

In Italy they tried in 2001 an Italian version named "Anello debole" on the channel Italia 1, hosted by Enrico Papi, who at that time hosted the music quiz Sarabanda (in fact the Italian version was just an experiment to find an eventual replacement show), and he also tried to stay true to the original format by wearing black clothes and being harsh to the contestants. It didn't work well and after three weeks the show was shut down and was basically forgotten by everyone.
