Political correctness worked in the 90's because the demographics weren't as balkanized as they are now, and it could remain as a system of civility. As each minority group gained more members, identity politics naturally rose, the divisions grew, and then that 90's system of culturally enforced PC civility was used as weapon to bludgeon the shrinking majority so that they will submit to the growing minorities.
@alecneate764 жыл бұрын
The issue comes when whole areas or now towns and cities are majority minority or majority one minority. I believe white brits should at least remain in the majority everywhere to preserve British culture. Its when towns and schools are all dominated by another group that a seperate culture and ideology takes hold and I don't think multiculturalism can work like that

It was never about civility- it was always about power. Speech codes were the way the left seized the academy.

We now have groups that didn't exist back in the 1990s. We had trans people back then, but no one was talking about 500 pronouns. Also if you were trans, you generally were undergoing a physical transition or at the very least cross-dressed. Nowadays you have people who claim to be trans who make no effort to transition to another gender at all, and claim to be "non-binary".

When those in power fall out, or when one bullies another...the ordinary people are sent to go have a scrap (read War) in the playground (areas and regions of the World). When ordinary people fall out and have their own scraps, in their own playgrounds, they are hammered down by those in power and incarcerated. When the ordinary people break one of the absolute myriad of laws, they are often incarcerated. When those in power break the law (International & National) - such as Anthony 'Miranda' 'Cottaging' Charles Lynton Bliar, with the Iraq war - they are either left alone by those who should uphold the law or given just a 'slap on the wrist' and a fine (as a form of reparations). And 'they' wonder why the Plebeians revolt. As George Santayana wrote, 'Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.' Edmund Burke made a slight modification and wrote, 'Those who don't know history are destined to repeat it.' Remember Nero and Rome. Remember Louis XVI and the French revolution. Remember Charles I and Cromwell, Tsar Nicholas II and the Bolsheviks, Hitler and the Nazis. Also, remember how and why the American War of Independence came about. In all my half-century years, I have never known our Nation to be so polarised as it is now. I fear it is even worse than the Thatcher (the milk snatcher) years and through the miners strikes and the power-outages and 3-day week, and worse now than through the 'winter of discontent', the oil crisis and petrol ration books. We may be heading to civil war, even though we have, in the main, all the comforts and luxuries one could only have dreamed of my I was a kid, in a hardworking, law abiding working class family (who turned out ex-Royal Navy, ex-Nurses, ex-Police, and ex-Firefighters - not bad considering my parents came from the tough dockland areas of Glasgow). We now have central heating, Playstations and XBoxes, massive TV's, phones (landline and mobile - I still remember Mum and Dad getting their first phone put in when I was 13 yrs old) cheap foodstuffs, brand name clothing, etc.; though, cruelly, we still have homelessness (especially among Armed Forces veterans, and not forgetting the mental health issues too), food-banks, poor people struggling from one day to the next. Why then might we be heading for civil war? My belief is that it is to do with individual freedom, the right to go about one's lawful business without being impeded. Fairness and being treated with dignity and respect. And that ol' British thing of fighting for the underdog. And, yes, even democracy, for if that is lost then we have no freedom. I hope we don't have a modern-day equivalent of a 'Peterloo' in the UK. But if we do, then we will have to chose to stand up for what is right. And my biggest fear then is 'lex talionis,' aka retribution.

@charliefoxtrotsky41044 жыл бұрын
@Lynn just so I don't leave this open ended. The battle for equal rights was won decades ago....the idea that this is still a battle in the western world is a myth. Everyone who is alive today in the western world already believes in equal rights and has for decades. The minute few who don't should not be included because there is no way through political action to "fix" people suffering mental/emotional issues (and no i don't mean that anyone who does not agree with you politically is mentally/emotionally inept) . Modern day feminism has nothing whatsoever to do with equal rights in any way or fashion....instead its a weapon used for political polarization and control/manipulation of people who aren't smart enough to see how they are very obviously being used at their own expense for the benefit of others...mostly politicians. clear enough? Tatania McGrath points out the obvious using humor.
