They played better last season, obviously, or else they'd have been under .500 then too. But who decides which players should be on the roster? The GM. He has had four off seasons to improve the roster and he has done nothing other than signing Trocheck to make it better.

I agree with @SurfinCowboy....being a good player does NOT necessarily translate into GM or coach success. 1. He should have approached the potential reades privately instead of flapping his gums publicly about trading Trouba, Kreider, etc. 2. He should NOT have made public that the "Rangers are open for business". These are two management faux pas He should have avoided. When word got out...whatever morale was intact vanished. That's novway to run a professional sports team.

people seem to forget how piss poor the 5 on 5 has been for at least 3 years. no matter what system the coach used it wasn't working. They had no guts to go into corners or hit hard to keep the puck moving in the opponents area, no sense of urgency just kept relying the puck back and fourth. And for their sizes', mika and krieder would not use their bodies enough to keep the play in tight to score. The other teams caught on fast to this weakness and it was their own fault
@danielkrall65012 күн бұрын
This can't be said enough. They rode their PP and Igor as hot as they could to make up for a very mediocre 5v5 team. After a couple of years, once Igor got paid and the PP stopped producing they are now last place in the division. It was always a house of cards.
@kennysdead5002 күн бұрын
I've said for years that they abandoned the rebuild and went on fluke runs in a bad division and it's sad that Tampa wasn't enough for them to reconsider their decision and then they proceed to get further embarrassed by the Devils and Panthers (with little "experience" gained and so much roster turnover lol) It doesn't matter who the coach is, Scotty Bowman wouldn't be able to fix them, it's all on Dolan and Drury for setting them back years (the players aren't helping themselves protesting Drury in a childish way despite not caring about Buchnevich getting betrayed), and then development, scouting, and Hartford need an overhaul as well

The question you asked a person to has no knowledge of what the situation is in the organization , no one knows and no one will ever know unless management decides to leak it out. If any one has been watching this team during the playoffs last season they just stopped skating and lost to Florida and to me the rumors began as of then where no one knew but assumed with stupid guesses. This team plays very well the first one and a half periods then it's like they drank a fifth of scotch and every play passes, shots, defense and offense becomes inconsistent.

I could not disagree more, a re-tool yes a rebuild NO there is a huge difference. This group of players has brought this team as far as they could go in last years playoffs. They were lacking Grit, Sandpaper, They traded Goodrow because of money he had what they needed in the playoffs scored goals and played tough. Truba was playing with a broken foot he was slow and not playing playoff hockey he was hurt but you received leadership. There are soft players Mika, Panarin Miller, these players will get you to the ;playoffs but not winning the cup. Dury has made some difficult decisions but the way he has done that is why the players are revolting , threating it wave players leading to trades they do not want. To many NO TRADES clauses, but at the time you had to give the players what they wanted. Move some players but no re-build, this will get worse before it gets better. Dury will feel pressure for his job, thus firing the coach when the heat is on him very soon. These players are coach killers 2 so far and one is on the way out. They cant win the CUP the way they play so lets get another coach fired, its easer to get ride of one coach then 25 players its not his fault these players have been coddled. Quinn was to soft, Gallant was to strict, Laviolette is just right. Dolan will figure this out and clean house, He wants to win more than anyone but for different reasons. Hockey is a business with family's attached to the players. They will play now with NO 2nd effort none. Re-Tool yes. Dury is on the HOTT seat.

I think it's time to hire him but will he want to come in N.Y. if the Rangers decide to "blow it up". Hummm! Maybe, maybe not. I don't agree about K.A. Miller though. Again yestedray he was a spectator on 2 of the 6 goals scored by Tampa. And I mean literally. This would be the first one I would look to trade while he still can be attractive because of his "ceiling".

And it's just an obvious example among thousands. What I'm saying is that Quenneville paid his dues in full. Do you believe in redemption or are you an hypocrite like so many? I don't think Quenneville ever sniffed young children's hair in public or took showers with his teenage daughter, to name a few of Biden's sexual habits. And Biden was never sidelined by the Democrats for his creepyness. On the contrary, theu had him elected as POTUS. But Quenneville and Bowman were and their reputation thrown in the trash can to appease the self-righteous like you.
