When I used to grow fruits and vegetables in a garden (before I gave that up to become a carnivore), I made a garden consisting of layers of mulch. I would put down mulch during the winter season, then plant seeds in the soil in Spring, lightly cover the soil, let the plants grow, then fully cover the base of the plants. My plants got optimal nitrogen, minerals from the mulch breaking down into compost, and I never watered the entire season. The tomatoes were sweet, the herbs were sweet, etc. Good thing I've given up plants.

Carnivore here.! I have heard the claim that organic plants are low in nitrates when compared with those fed by the synthetic fertilizers and thus are less healthy for that reason. That is plain rubbish me thinks.
@kentcarnivoreАй бұрын
The plants are deficient in nutrients as a consequence of the lack of microorganisms in the soil. Then sprayed with additional poisons, of course. Plant foods are destitiue enough, let alone the man-made nutrient deficient "superfoods" of today. Vegan logic is always fascinating 😆
@BaconIover69Ай бұрын
At least in Germany artificial fertilizer is not allowed on organic fields. The only way organic or "Bio" (as it is called in Germany) farmers can only use certain crops who enrich the soil (clover, legumes etc.) etc), natural mineral powder (ground up rocks/limestone/coppersulfate and other trace elements), compost (produced buy the farmer) dung not slurry (produced by the farmers cows) and animal products like blood, bones, horn/hoove and hair. So the soil micro biome should be very healthy and pesticides/herbicides are not allowed either. Is this different in the US? Edit: I realised you were talking about the "normal" farmed soil being without soil micro biome. My apologies.
@petramaas8574Ай бұрын
It is true. When the growth environment is bad, more fertilizer is used to compensate. I know, I worked in a governmental lab, that checked the food quality. In winter, the allowed nitrate content in lettuce was much higher than in summer, winter having more difficult growing conditions in the greenhouse, less light, lower temperature and, of course unnatural growing season. I live in Europe.

Great video Lee❤. Totally agree, the relationship between animals/soil & plants is key to healthy life cycle, that is self sustaining. I took a screen shot of the image you showed! Creating healthy soil creates healthy plants that creates healthy animals. Animals stomp green plants into the soil that then feeds the soil microbes. Without armor on the soil, it dies and monoculturing with it. We found this out after seeding our pastures for 2 years and hardly any of it grew! We now need to seed perennial grasses to cover the soil, and let it grow for 2 seasons, before we can seed again with good results. Live and learn it is!😉❤
@michaelheurkens453812 күн бұрын
When I was a lad, we used to have a "mixed farm". This is the best way IMO. Not only do you feed your animals from a portion of the crops you produce, you use the naturally composted manure as an organic fertilizer on the fields in the Fall after harvest. Hoeing 50 acres of a soybean cash crop by hand was a backbreaking and killer of a hot job though(pre tall spraying equipment). We never used any pesticides nor herbicides. We earned awards for best quality/taste for beef, chicken and eggs. Nobody in my family was ever seriously ill with an occasional cold or flu lasting only a couple of days. Nuts to veganism! Go unsprayed grass fed/pastured any meat if possible, your body will thank you. Cheers from a retired farmer in Alberta, Canada.

You are absolutely entitled to say "I'm too good for that way of producing food so now I'm only going to eat this or that way" but those processes have absolutely been huge improvements over what was before, if not in quality, certainly in quantity and have allowed millions to gain access to richer foods, notably affordable meat. And I'm not saying they're perfect, far from it. But I'm convinced we have made huge strides in the right direction in the past decades and we will continue to do it better in the future.

I mean: they want to survive, they feel and respond to pain, they defend themselves against it, they communicate with each other, heck even compete with and kill one another. @@GlennGJ100 Only to those with the ability to think critically. The vegans continue on their little mousewheel loop, completely unable to see the truth, and it just makes them double down on their very misguided beliefs, and gives them yet another platform on which to spout their nonsense. But is it scalable? How many people can you feed with those methods? There's a reason that both plants and animals exist in nature. They need each other to be healthy.
