Can’t believe the you guy’s passed over the Dobyns champ 610-C here, I’m not even a Dobyns fan but that model from what I hear is money

Long time supporter here! Please continue to provide the weights of the rods when you do the testing. Balance point as well. Keep it coming!

This is exactly why I watched a bunch of their videos. Unbelievable that 500+ dollar rod manufacturers dont state the weights, but their descriptions will claim things like “super light weight”.

Megabass P5 Super Destroyer is a great skipping rod!
@fishncoach86992 ай бұрын
I'll have to respectfully disagree. I just bought one but I don't think it has enough tip. It's a little stiff for my preference and is about to go up for sale
@fishncoach86992 ай бұрын
Not trying to be contrary btw, just providing context for potential buyers
@nosrednas242 ай бұрын
@@fishncoach8699 Yup you are totally correct. It all depends on what you’re trying to skip. I throw a 1/2oz jig the majority of the time. It’s NOT a weightless senko rod which a lot of people skip

The Falcon Cara 6 10” is excellent. Use for spinnerbaits up to 1/2 oz. I skip 1/16, 1/8, 3/16oz shaky heads with 5” senko under docks with 17-20# floor for a different look. Great tip and strong backbone for hook sets and dragging fish out of cover. The Cara 7 3” Amistad is heavier, but an awesome skip, flip, frog, and 5/6” swimbait rod, as well.

GLX 844 MBR is my fave skipping rod with 1/2oz jigs and chatterbaits, 843 MBR with 3/8 jigs

I have a Shimano Poison Adrena 6-11 Med Plus, 1/4-1oz. A great rod for dock skipping, love the tip and has plenty backbone.

I have been a huge fan of the Dobyns Kaden 715 as a slightly cheaper option. Stout rob but it can skip a 3/8 - 1/2oz jig with ease.

Virtus blue diamond or red diamond (prev jewel, I think now collaborating with phenix). Are sweet rods. They have 6’10” H/F and a 6’10” MH/F that are phenomenal. MH is a braid to leader and the H is a my Fluoro rod. I think they are similar to the falcon cara lineup, but it’d be interesting to see how they look on the bend wall.

After owning quite a few St Croixs here are my notes. XF in St Croix basically is fast in Shimano or Daiwa. For moving baits you really don’t need more than the Victory. The best rod I’ve ever owned from them is the 7’3 Legend Bass in ML and M. Those two rods are so versatile for spinning rods.

The Headturner is also available in the expert line as well. Definitely a good tight quarters rod. The expert is just a touch more moderate. Mine checks in at 3.8oz. Somehow manages to work exceptionally well for skipping jigs, walking a popping frog in sparse cover, as well as a nice chatterbait rod if you are one of those guys that like that stiffer rod for a chatterbait.

Got to add that 7’1 st croix is a great dock skipping rod for moving baits. Love skipping swimjigs with that rod 3/8-1/2 mostly

Day in and day out, 7’2” Heavy Shimano Expride for skipping a jig. Have two of them that I keep a 3/8 oz jig on one and a 1/2 oz on the other. Going with straight flouro, it can’t be beat. The medium heavy is fantastic spinnerbait, buzz bait any moving bait with braid to a leader.

Are you talking about the 7'2 mh glass?
@GaEnvironmentalist2 ай бұрын
@@2AA11Day the standard mh. I haven’t had a chance to play with any of the glass Exprides. I think the standard 7’2 mh Expride is great for any single hook moving bait. I also tried it with a Texas rig and it worked fairly well too as long as your not around any grass

@GaEnvironmentalist Nice. I have that rod being delivered Tuesday after being backordered for months. I wasn't sure if it would be too stiff for moving baits. Sounds perfect for what I bought it for.

@@2AA11Day you won’t be disappointed. It’s great multi-purpose rod. I mainly used it for spinnerbaits and buzz baits but it’s also great for a finesse jig too

That St Croix is a legend x, extreme is blacked out and a couple hundred bucks more 😉. I have that rod but in a victory and I love it. That Falcon Cara rod really surprised me, my buddy fishes exclusively Falcon....maybe he's onto something. Another great video .
@stevenwilliams30212 ай бұрын
I think the Eakins may have helped Falcon with that head turner rod 25+ years ago. Think they designed two 6’10” rods to fish the 5/16 and 7/16 Eakins jigs around docks and brush piles. Good all purpose rods.

What about the older st croix legend tournament dock snipper. I use the mojo dock snipper myself. I have the legend tournament 7’1” medium heavy extra fast and I would have never thought it would be good skipping rod. However I used to use it as a designated weightless soft fluke rod with 12# flouro. Perhaps I will try it skipping. Thanks for all you guys do. I love the information, I even kinda want to build my own rod bend wall.

How does the Daiwa Tatula Elite 6’9 TTEL691HFB compare to these? I saw an older video featuring that rod, but nothing about the weight of the rod was noted in the video. I’m just looking for a rod within the 200 price point to skip into culverts for snakeheads in south FL. Would the heavy action still be necessary? Or could I get a rod with Medium and Mod-Fast?
