This is the perfect place for Bronte fans. I'm glad you popped up one day on KZbin, thank you very much Kate for sharing so much. Haworth in the autumn rain, can anything be more evocative! We read a little play at school when I was 12. It was re enacting a school scene from Jane Eyre. That weekend I just sat and read the whole book. I agree with you about the sisters. Here's to many more brews with you, and thank you!

In someways I love Haworth in the rain (and snow), everyone goes home and I feel I can walk about and not have to avoid the crowds. With all the trees too it sounds wonderful. I do believe if young people enjoy the books when then are in their early teens then it stays with them forever. I like the sound of many more brews, can never have too many. Thank you for watching and joining me on a rainy day in Haworth.

I recently read The Tenant of Wildfell Hall and fell in love with Anne Bronte. It astounded me how one so young could write with such emotion and know what it might feel like to love someone who was on a road of self destruction through their addictions, and to suffer at their hands so cruelly. (I know she got it exact, from my own experience). It makes me wonder what the Bronte family endured while looking after their own brother, and what they also witnessed within their own community at that time. Helen Graham is such an amazingly strong female character for that time in history. I adored this novel. Wanting to find out more about Anne Bronte, I soon discovered your channel. I love your personality, style and friendly approach. I love the fun you bring to each video. The channel is exceptional in quality and production. You share so many wonderful sights and fascinating facts and interesting information. I wish you continued success on the growth of this channel, you deserve it.

Anne must have seen so many sides to Branwell, him at home, in the pub, as a teacher, as a son and this must have given her an insight into how Arthur could be in Wildfell Hall. Wow, you blew me away with your lovely words. I want my videos to be the sort of thing you could imagine your friend chatting about but also showing little details that you might not see if you were not looking hard. I love making them. I wanted to be me so I never felt I was being fake, what you see in the videos is what I am like all the time and it drives my husband made when I have my silly moments. I have a giant list of topics for future videos I want to cover so watch this space.

I own that book. I read it also as a teenager. I think I need to get it out and read it again. I was a proper bookworm when I was younger. I have gotten away from reading much lately. I need to get back into it. Now that I am a mum to eight children of my own, it will probably be easier to understand. I am a normal person also, so nice to meet you 😊 Kate. I have a bachelor's degree in Religious Studies with a minor in English. I like to read, watch KZbin, and crochet a bit. I have eight children and live in the United States. Still looking forward to seeing your videos on finding the best cake shops that you promised me the last time we spoke. I have a dream of coming to the UK, visiting friends I met online, and having proper scones with clotted cream and jam and a good cuppa. As well as paying my respects to Katherine of Aragon's grave in Peterborough cathedral. She is one of my most favourite people in history and I wish I could sit down with her and have a nice cuppa and a chin wag.

Loved your video. You didn't need to say you weren't academically qualified, but it was nice of you. TBH I really don't care --- lots of people become experts just by doing research on things they're interested in & so have you. On the contrary, it helps create a pleasant informal atmosphere. I think WH is the best Brontë novel, though my fave woud be JE. TTOWH is very good but you really have to be in the mood. I absolutely love Anne, her honesty and sense of purpose and commitment, but Charlotte is like a friend that keeps me company when I'm feeling low. And for some reason I like to imagine Emily baking bread at the Parsonage. I find their lives and the social history approach endlessly fascinating. Looking foward to whatever you may wish to show us or discuss in your next video.
@brontesistersuk19 күн бұрын
Thank you, I wanted people to know that I'm just a fan like them and like what you said, if you have a passion for a topic then that is enough. But also, didn't want to mislead anyone in thinking I was an expert because I'm not. I get things wrong sometimes. I did think about going back to education and concentrating on the Brontes but a wise friend of mind said "Why?, you are doing what you love already without that bit of paper saying you are qualified". I think being in the right mood for a certain book is very true, if I am tired or upset I can't read Wuthering Heights, it makes me angry. But Jane Eyre I can ready anytime.

This was a wonderful video! The first book I read was Withering Heights when I was a teenager. When I was in university studying for and English degree I read all of Charlotte Brontes work. After I finished school and I was in my 20’s I discovered Anne Bronte. I read Agnes Gray and thought it was a good book and then I discovered The Tennant of Wildfell Hall and that was it for me! Anne immediately became my favourite sister. You make an excellent point about Tennant though: I should reread it as a mother, I think I’ll pick up more than I did in my 20’s. Wildfell Hall has a special place in my heart. I wrote my college thesis on why it wasn't as popular as Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights, and I'd probably say it's the most important book of all their work. Wuthering Heights will probably always be my favorite, though Also funnily enough, so I found this set of Bronte books that had been adapted for young readers (nine, give or take), and I've been encouraging my students to take a look at them. Apparently one kid got REALLY into Wildfell Hall

There was a copy of Jane Eyre in our house when I was a kid, with a torn page in it - part of the text on that page was Rochester's comment to Jane, "You shall walk up the pyramids of Egypt!" I was keen on Egyptian stuff having seen the Tutankhamun exhibition at the British Museum, so started to read the book. Quickly realised it had nothing to do with Egyptology but I was drawn in anyway; as the ten year old girl I was then, Jane's sad life with the Reeds and her awful experiences of school were both horrible and riveting. Because of my age I didn't always understand a lot of the passages (the Bewick's bird book being one of them lol!) but the overall Gothic atmos certainly came across. Around the same time there was a BBC TV adaptation of Jane Eyre starring Sorcha Cusack and Michael Jayston, and both of them were for me, the ideal Jane and Mr Rochester - need to see if I can find this on KZbin. It also had cuddly Megs Jenkins as Mrs Fairfax. Like a lot of old TV stuff it's probably massively dated by now! As I grew up the rest of the book began to make sense for me and to this day I love immersing into Jane's life. I've read other authors of the period and none of them (for me) have the Bronte's immediacy and plain, readable grasp on life. I also enjoyed Mrs Gaskell's Life of Charlotte too. While I also loved Wuthering Heights, the other Bronte books had less of a grip on me, just personal liking, but I am in so much awe of the Bronte's for writing such brilliant books against the background of their lives in the parsonage. They feel like authentic women who we could so easily choose as friends today. Many years ago my (now) husband and I stayed at near Ponden Hall and we had a pint of Theakston's in the Wuthering Heights pub. Happy days! I love your videos, they're a beautiful calm oasis which I really value and appreciate. Thank you. (love your music choices too)

Hello and welcome. Thank you for telling me about your introduction to the Brontes, I agree that I too didn't understand the book fully when I first (or second time) read it. But, the story was in my head and as I grew I started to see more because I understood more. The book grew up with me you could say. The BBC 1973 Jane Eyre is great, I haven't seen it in a long time and it is on the internet to watch but not via KZbin so I better not mention where (KZbin might not like it) but easy to Google and find. I am rereading Elizabeth Gaskell's biography of Charlotte at the moment but I dip in and out of it so haven't got as far as I would have liked. I am hoping this reread will help me understand Mrs Gaskell better too. You should head back to Haworth again, not much as changed in some ways, the moors have more signs and the shops change hands from time to time but it is still a beautiful place to visit. Thank you for watching and joining me on my adventures, I am struggling with music, it seems some love it and some hate it and I am not sure what to do with it. My aim was always to have videos that make you stop thinking about normal life and have a small amount of time in the Brontes' world. I pleased they are doing that for you. Thanks again.

Hello. If you like walking, Brontes and little shops then yes. I am not sure if the Railway is still open and running this time of year, you will need to see. There are so many walks out on the moors and all the B&Bs, pubs etc can guide you where to go. The Bronte Parsonage is a good few hours to look around, the church too and the little shops is a few hours too. Check out if there are any events happening at the Parsonage or in places like Cobbles and Clay and the the book shop, Wave Of Nostalgia. Also, sometimes there is a Craft Market in the Reading Rooms. If you have a car you could drive out to some of the other villages and check out more Bronte places like Thornton but there isn't much to see/do there at the moment. Get onto Google and see what you can find. Hope you have a nice time. x
