I’d say this has a lot to do with the goaltender the lefty or righty is facing.

When I face a lefty,it is a lot harder for me stop it,but when I’m facing a righty,I’m more likely to make the save,so you are right

What a great video...I'm a right shot and my kids are playing now and I've got one righty and one lefty, and they both watched the video and got some great history of the game. Thanks! Keep em coming!

I love that being a right-handed goalie is actually the result of being left-handed. Hockey is the only stick sport i play righty, cuz my first position was goalie, that and righties stickhandle with their left hand

The best right handed goalie of all time was Tony Esposito! BTW, when I was a kid in school i would play goal in PE as a right shot, but everyone told me that was wrong, so I switched. Never played organized hockey until my 30s, I still play left (although I shoot right as a skater).

I find the lefty vs righty concept interesting. I believe in my case, I became a lefty hockey player because I grew up in Northern Illinois a Blackhawks fan. Bobby Hull was my hockey hero. I started emulating his play, and because he was a lefty, I too became a lefty. At the time I was probably only 8 or 9 yrs old, when I started playing, but I remained a lefty in hockey even as I got older. Sort of the way Billy Crystal said how he used to emulate Mickey Mantle when he was a kid. As kids many of us subconsciously copied our heroes. I played baseball right handed because Ernie Banks of the Cubs did.

BUT right handed is less players,majority of players holds left
@TheIncredibleJew6 жыл бұрын
Does that even matter, if talents such as Howe and Lemieux were scoring from the right? If Gretzky were a rightie, then this comparison would be much, much closer.

NHL FAN , right handed players are the majority and they have the club on the left side. You have the club on the opposite side of your dominant hand.

"Bobby Orr revolutionized the defensive position" Lids though was probably the greatest precise defensive defensemen

I loved your comment "Bobby Orr, the greatest player who ever lived, or, ever will live". It's just too bad he couldn't have played longer because he is my favorite all time player. I have to go along with Dennis Hull in his book The Third Best Hull; if it was possible I would have gladly traded knees with Orr just to watch him play another decade
@mr.devil95776 жыл бұрын
I heard I Canada they teach you to put your dominant hand at the top of the stick most people are right-handed so it makes sense that the best players in history shoot lefty. Best shooters are right handed in history it shows Ovi, Laine, Bossy, Hull, Lemieux, Kovalchuk. Not many left handed shooters have releases like these guys.
@luketracey32694 ай бұрын
If you're right handed and you put your dominant hand at the top of the stick you are shooting left . This makes alot of sense if you wear a baseball/goalie glove on your left hand and were forced to play goalie for your older brother lol. He literally taped pillows to me .

I get why you switched the goalies, because a left handed goalie throws a baseball with his right hand; but a left handed catching goalie plays the puck like a lefty, not a righty

You got Coffey and Lindstrom ahead of Brad Park and Doug Harvey?! And Tommy Barrasso ahead of Tony Esposito and Roger Crozier?! As well as Terry Sawchuk, Glenn Hall, and Jacques Plante, behind Dominik Hasek??? Your 90's childhood is showing, Park may never have won a Norris, but he was a runner up 7 times, and outside of Orr the Best Defensemen in NHL history, the guy gave his heart out. He could rush the puck, play excellent defensemen everyone one of his peers and Coaches say he was the best Defensemen outside of Orr. Doug Harvey won 7 Norris Trophies, 6 Stanley Cups, 11 All Star Selections, 540 points, 1113 GP, +46 Career Plus minus, Finished Second in the Hart Voting in 1961-62. He controlled the Game like Orr, he defended Better than Orr, he won more cups and is second to only Orr in Norris Trophies. And he won more Cups. I say that you've goofed on some of these selections, like Larry Murphy ahead of Tim Horton?! Come on! Horton was ten times the defensemen Murphy ever was. I like most of your videos, but I think you goofed on some of these selections. Not all but some.
@eyb0ss2536 жыл бұрын
Your favoring of 50-70s players is obvious, just judging by your videos and profile pic you havent quite transferred to the 2000s yet.
@fentonhardy81766 жыл бұрын
So? I grew up watching Harvey, Sawchuk, Hall, Horton, Plante and Many others, I played junior Hockey with Tony Esposito, I used to watch Tony and Roger too. If you want me to name my Top 5 defensemen of all time, well here ya go, 1. Bobby Orr, no one could skate or Play better then him, 2. Brad Park, as talented as Orr, not as flashy and more all round, 3. Doug Harvey, he could do what Orr could do, just 10 years earlier. 4. Tim Horton, stronger than Hercules, and a fine rushing Defensemen. 5. Red Kelly, Another fine two defencemen and later a great center, good at it all, an especially great skater. So yeah I do prefer the older guys because those were the days I most enjoyed watching hockey, the 80's piss poor hockey, all it was, was offense, no one really knew defense. 90's, just boring Michelin man equipment, and just plain boring. And there is no real code in today's hockey, it's just staged fighting or an instigator penalty. Then they make stupid helmets mandatory, which makes headhunting even more prevalent. I was born in 1946, I was listening to hockey by the age of 4, watching hockey by the age of 7. I've seen the 2000's, people are thin-skinned, toughness in hockey is gone the NFL sucks now, kids addicted to their phones 24/7, and the God-awful Rap music. Yeah those 2000's, thanks I'll stick to the days of tough but fair hockey, heavier equipment, but half the size. Yeah I love the days when I was growing up and then later having kids. Oh yeah and there was good music as a rule not an exception. I miss the world I lived in, I enjoyed the days when people weren't so worried about injury that they wouldn't have good clean fun. So yeah I'm not planning on moving to the 2000's anytime soon young fella!

Fenton Hardy Hope you’re just a troll because if you think helmets should not be mandatory it might be the stupidest thing I ever read. Also hate to break it to you but the average CHL player has more talent than 90% of the 50-70’s players.
