Being South African is not about a piece of paper, its only like that for those who are not attached to this land. If people contextually put South Africa in the same group as Singapore, Japan, Tahiti, Nepal, India and Cambodia etc.. people would realise that South Africa is not an Anomaly. Instead people want to put SA in the America, Canada, Australia group and it doesn't work. Those countries have successfully managed to commit mass ethnic cleansing so that the demographic of those countries are different. America calls itself a country of immigrants built by immigrants because it was by design. South Africans don't want to change the cultural texture of the country, already too much has been lost. We want our cultures preserved, we want our languages preserved and used, we want our own style of architecture that is distinctly South African. We want to fully embody what was taken and we want those who choose to migrate to South Africa and live amongst us to RESPECT the cultural boundaries that exist, in the same way that they respect a Malaysia, a Tahiti and an India or Japan.

Its like with the FBA. They are trying to distinguish their cultural and historical heritage as to more than simply being born there. And this assertion of identity is protect them from their interests being corrupted. Such as in the case of repirations. A Jamaican American can't claim to be a FBA or an American Decendent Of Slavery. This is how black Americans distinguish their cultural heritage in a country they literally helped build. Blood, sweat and tears. They have a right to protect that heritage. Being South African has a historical, cultural and heritage component to it that cannot be dismissed. It's a very serious thing. Cultural identity is how we show what makes us unique. And given how Nigerians attitudes towards South Africans...most South Africans are not going to be okay with a woman who can't speak a South African language. Doesn't have a South African name. Has the Nigerian flag and is Nigerian in even how she portrays her image. Was married to a Nigerian having a Nigerian wedding. To expect South Africans to go for that based on a technicality like her father having a child here well then you have a few things to learn about us.

It's not even about being South African the real truth about South Africans feeling like they don't matter in their own country and the leaders aren't putting South Africans first when other African states are putting their own citizens first before anybody. If that can be addressed and native South Africans be part of the economy and not excluded to fight for resources amongst each other and working class foreigners, maybe those tensions between South Africa and the rest of the continent will be laid to rest. That's my thought

The Miss SA issue is multifacet. There is rebellion against Western (Colonial) imposed norm of what a South African is. There is anti-migration reaction caused by influx of African and Pakistani migrants, complicated by Dutch, British and Asian historic population of SA that arrived in 1652, 1820, 1860 respectively. There is the issue of identity, that is, the ancient bloodline that binds the natives of South Africa genealogically. Post 1994 Constitutionalism wants South Africa to be defined as a nation of migrants. That is, the powerful White and Black elites impose on the natives that new form of identity, which is being rejected. South Africa is the oldest continually inhabited place by humans. The bloodline of ancient South Africans runs in the veins of native South Africans. This can be observed in our phenotype and clicks in our languages that are related, intelligible to each other. We are a genealogical ethnic group primarily Nguni and Sotho (Tswana). That includes people of Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland and Mthwakazi in southern Zimbabwe. That is the reason Black South Africans claim personalities like Doja Cat (Zandile Dlamini), Gugu Mbatha-Rowe even though they have never set foot in South Africa. Miss SA's Chidinma has no South African lineage. Her father is Nigerian Igbo, her mother is Mozambican Tjopi. There are question marks whether or not she was born in SA. She cannot speak any South African language. She appears to identify with Nigeria and Mozambique as observed in her Social Media posts. Ultimately, the uproar is an assertation by Black South Africans that we are genetic ethnic group, that accepts migrants (bar Europeans by reason of conquest) ONLY if they associate with South African-ness.

There are South Africans living all over the continent and so many South African companies all over the continent. I cannot even name a country at least in Eastern or Southern Africa without South African companies doing business there and benefiting the South African economy and people. We have no enmity against South Africans in our countries. The problem I see is that many black South Africans don't travel and no little about what's happening on the continent. All of your South African musicians have visited our countries and have made money and have bern treated very well.....

Being born in SA does not automatically make you a SAn. One of your parents should be South African or have a South african citizenship for you to be a South African. Both her parents are not South African and do not have South African citizenship. It is alleged that her mother bribed an official and stole someone else's identity to make herself SAn so that her child can be SAn. The mother knew the law that being born in SA does not make you a SAn. One of the parents must be SAn.

We cannot take a person who doesn't identift with us to the world as our representative. I returned to SA a year and eight months ago after living in the US for most of my life (though I was born and raised in Africa). I have SA citizenship because my father is a Mosotho from here. If I were young, I wouldn't think to represent South Africa, even though I am a citizen. I just wouldn't be able to do it justice, because I became Americanized over time. Even if a pageant organizer invited me to participate - I would respectfully decline. I want the black South African cultures to be represented as authentically as possible - each is so unique. I perceive a globalist push to dilute black South African cultures in particular and the tactic is to label black South Africans (Tswana, Zulu, Sotho, Xhosa, Ndebele, etc.) as xenophobic just for saying: "Hey, wait a minute!".

When customs are still not enshrined in writings for future generation to reference and folk refuse to use languages other than their Homes as a result the muscle memory of the language is underutilized . This is on top of single parent families being super common in SA , BW and SW . i don't know which culture survives with women being head of the households. LOL Nah but all jokes aside, in America we tend to label people on how we see them and their resemblance to our own identities, but not necessarily how they define themselves. Do I think Kamala is black? Doesn't matter. Does she say she's black? Then she's black. Tyla is coloured by SA definition and we should respect her culture. The creoles of New Orleans are not much different from the coloured of SA. We have our own culture and food, traditions, dance and music. Dr Assad. This is an interesting conversation. All over Southern Africa not just South Africa we have a group of mixed people called colored not black. I had an argument many years ago with a friend from the US military based in Saudi at that time who met a girl in my country in Zim and was confused why she called herself black. Truth be said my friend Jerry was just as light and like you would have been classified as colored. Here is my question, I live in the US so understand all the dynamics. I think the girl should simply identify as black when in the US. However, what is your response if someone says you or Adrian are colored. It has to work both ways or else we start talking about the so called or perceived American arrogance. That this girl should call herself black but black Americans retain being black even if they move abroad which by the way I totally agree with. Last thing I would say was there was a premium that came with being labeled Colored so whether a colored person feels better than a black or bantu African is a subject of another debate. The reality is "Colored" was higher than black in the racial hierarchy imposed by the white settlers. Its complicated stuff. My attitude is whatever one calls themselves is their business but should also be ready to face any backlash that comes with that.
@allanluis3696

race is socio-political identifier, it is not biological. Before "race" was introduced into the common lexicon, people were known by their clan, tribe, religion, and later nationality. Because "black" as we know it is specific to the USA, it has the historical baggage of the 1 drop rule. In apartheid SA they had a different caste system. In truth, almost all African Americans have between 10-20 % European DNA, some have much higher. Some "blacks" have more European DNA than AFrican. This is specific to the USA. Other countries in the Americas/Carib have a different system. In SA, they have indigenous Africans, Coloureds, Indians, Boers, etc. So, if a "black" person has a SA ethnicity but becomes a US citizen, ethnically they can be 'coloured'. Some people will disagree but at the end of the day, there is no 1 definition. It is a socio-political identifier.

Her grandfather was from Britain.

@@allanluis3696 Its not Black and White. There are Cape Malays with no African heritate. There are Cape Indians with no African heritage. In order for a person to be coloured THEY MUST BE AFRICAN W/ FOREIGN ADMIXTURE (this mixture comes from the era of slavery). What did I say??? Coloured= indigenous African w/ European mixture. Go read Nigerian people’s comments on all social media platforms if she wins that contest. The disrespect will be a thousand decibels loud, and yet everyone agrees that South African women look good. That’s what’s got people cheesed off. Them people aren’t blessed with gracefulness. Daddy said he first came to SA in 2010 for the world cup, and he came back in 2013 and got married. Not sure when they had a baby, he didn’t say. Could it be the 23year old? The white people have been here for hundreds of years and got citizenship before we got passbooks (pre-curser to the ID). Whites that came since 1994 have to go through the same immigration process as everyone else. No idea how they handled it during apartheid when they were still in need of greater numbers of white people, but never heard of birthright even then..

Clearly, Kamala's policies are going to differ from Biden's just because. I remember when Jackson ran for nomination... Mondale's and Clinton's policies had to be rewritten during the convention to accommodate something from Jackson so as to get his support, Nevertheless, her policies, as I understand them, are unquestionably very lite.

New Orleans is older than Louisiana. It existed before Louisiana was a state. It was a French territory. It was a Spanish territory. It has always had a large black/African population both enslaved and free people of color. We are culturally different from the rest of the state. Baton Rouge is close in distance but different. They have different accents. They have a different culture.

Asad South Africans need to delineate from other Africans. There are too many bad actors who are trying very hard to infiltrate and dilute our SAn identity, at this point we need our own FSA (Foundational South Africans), I'm s i c k of these tethers. I don't agree with the majority of Tariq's talking points but wholeheartedly agree with his stance and the FBA movement. My take on this whole identity saga is that (and I'm especially advising our African nationals) Africans need to learn from and mimick Black Americans. Don't cry x e n o p h o b i a cause I consider Black Americans in South Africa high quality migrants, but not my African nationals. Nuff said!

Albert Luthuli was born in Zimbabwe and all of your freedom fighters were hiding from the Apartheid regime in the same African countries which you now despise. Mbeki Oliver Thambo were out in Zambia and some Zambians paid with their lives because of Apartheid South Africa's bombing. Many of your leaders were provided with safe passage and accomodation in many if these countries. MK were also living and training in these African countries you now despise. Weapons were being transported through our countries into South Africa to help the struggle.Mandela and the ANC were given millions of dollars by African states to support the struggle. Today we have South African nationals living in so many African countries. There are multitudes of South African companies doing business all over the continent and making millions and billions of dollars. Also many of these Southern African countries have Nguni people who came to be there because they were running away from the great Zulu Warrior King Shaka Zulu so we share the same blood lines although the language has been forgotten overtime. Something to think about...

The problem with using the Black umbrella for everyone deeply melanated is, all don't share the same culture......Many foreign Black people come to America not knowing or understanding the history and lack respect for the work FBAs have put in which allows all minorities to benefit......Many Black foreigners come to America with their nose stuck in the air and speak on American issues as if they know what they're talking about when they don't........Most don't even know why MLK is celebrated or the significance of Black history month lol

Fam I'm one of the people who objected to the contestant's participation in Miss SA because I believe you need to be plugged into our culture and traditions to represent us on that platform.I habour no ill feeling toward her but she has no connection to us other than allegedly being born here to parents who're not SAns,meaning she has no automatic right to citizenship. The most distressing part of this story is how a SAn was stripped of her citizenship and that of her children by this contestant's mother. This is triggering to us because this is not an isolated incident, there are 1000s of SAns who've suffered the same fate and when we demand mass deportations and stricter immigration laws and border controls we get told we're xenophobic and Afrophobic. On all her social platforms she had the Nigerian flag and not ours and was married to a Nigerian and we're told she lives between the two countries. Her mother now stands accused of fraud and identity theft by the government and will soon be arrested for her crimes.I don't even want to go into how West Africans and Nigerians in particular have destroyed the reputation of our passport (acquired fraudulently) across the globe. They're not alone in that because Ireland has recently imposed visa restrictions on us because Zimbabweans use fraudulent SAn passports to go over there and then do other things including applying for asylum. Fortunately for the Miss SA contestant,Nigeria has allowed her to contest for Miss Universe over there. We love Africa and we love all people of African descent but our fellow Africans need to let us breathe and try to fix this country because there's a lot that still has to be done in this country.Unity is a must but it can't be at our expense in a continent of 54 countries,we refuse fam.

We first have to clear out this "Black" elephant outra room. No African tribes culturally described themselves as "Black", through their culture, traditions or lineage. This race classification was put upon Africans, it is not an African ethnic group. Some of our cousins in the west, are not aware of the difference between Colored and Coloured. South African Coloureds make up an ethnic group(Hottentot, Mixed, Bushmen and Khoisan) that is the first inhabitants of Southern Africa. They speak the oldest language on earth traced to be at least 25 000 years old. Infact Katrina Esau, is the last person who can fluently speak Njuu. Their lineage is certified by Anthropologists and Archaeologists, as the cradle of human kind, the birth place of our species. That what some in the west expect the likes of Trevor Noah and Tyla to forego. Those who saw an American film "Gods must be crazy", or read about Sarah Baartman who was enslaved for her curves, will understand that Coloureds have very long history that dates back to the great drift.

Not all coloureds have San or Khoi DNA e.g. some Cape Malays. In fact coloureds are the most genetically diverse group in the world tied with Brazilians so you have to be careful when talking about their lineage. Most Tswana and Xhosa people have San and Khoi DNA because they lived closely with these groups and the SAn and Khoi assimilated into those tribes when the colonialists were hunting and killing them. The rest fled to Namibia and Botswana. We don't know when the Xhosa and Tswana people settled in the region. None of us can say for sure who the first inhabitants of SA are. The people who later formed the Zulu kingdom can be traced back to the 11th century. The San people were semi- nomadic whilst the Khoi were nomadic. So we don't know when they came to the region. The Balobedu people and Venda people are close relatives of the people of the Mapungubwe Kingdom from the Limpopo region. There is archeological evidence that Mapungubwe was a sophisticated trading centre from around 1200 ! They traded with China , Arabs and India. We don't know how far back their kingdom can be traced but we know they were not Nomadic. Safe to say if they were such skilled gold miners, gold jewelry manufacturers and traders , they had probably been in the region way earlier than 1200 when other nations discovered them. Be careful of adopting the narrative that claims that Khoi or San were the first nation in SA. That narrative seeks to delete the Nguni people and current day black South Africans from the land ownership debate. It is a divide and conquer strategy between coloureds and black South Africans , yet gain used to distract black people's focus from the land issue.

@@dinaledi4085 I will not wear a negativity hat you are trying to put on my head. Why, as an South Sotho man would I celebrate Coloureds in a divide and conquer plot, you are not making any sense. Perhaps you need to establish the context before responding. If you read my response carefully, you would have noted that I included 'mixed' people to an ethnic group of Coloureds. In this context, I wrote about South Africans, not Batswana. When I write about Bantu people in South Africa, I dont expect Kenyans to feel unjust, when I am not talking about them. We all have the Khoisan mitochondrial haploid - 150 000 years + genome , even the second oldest tribe of Australians, referred to as Aborigines, have it too. The archaeological site of Sterkfontein has a plethora of evidence that leads back to the Khoisan genome and the fact that of all homo-sepiens who are first inhabitants, the Khoisan's sequenced haplo-genome is the closest, but if you have a different evidence, please publish for peer review. If you are not aware, don't say none of us. My tribe has a solid oral tradition that is passed on religiously and I have done so with my nephews too. Im befuddled that you can even refer to the 1000 years of the 11th century when I wrote focusing on a tribe who's paternal sequence is a minimum of 150 000 years, it is beyond the realm of debating these facts. How would Xhosa as a language use linguistic signatures from both Khoisan and Nguni in its development, have similar words and meaning with other Bantu tribes in middle and east Africa, and be the oldest language, when the Khoisan Njuu, has 100% of of the click foundation only prevelent between 25% to 48% of Xhosa. The demographics of South Africa are a firm evidence that you hypothesis about the deletion of Nguni people, is complete ignorance of facts. I don't know how you got from 'Who's black? Who's South African?' Who's from New Orleans?... to 'the land ownership". In this instance, I will assume you are one of those 'radical everything' people who eat up everything they are told. South Africa is not 90% white land ownership and 10% African land ownership. This reporting focuses on land that has title deeds, not vast plains of empty land owned by the state, that had not been documented. 80% of SA is uninhabited, so there's a lot of land for occupation and cultivation. Radicalism is build upon inferiority and fear mongering. South Africa and its land issue is in the hands of African political gatekeepers, that we vote for every cycle. Just remember that, without an over arching plan, land is just the beginning, people will ask for road toward the land, waste refusal, water and electrical connections, jobs in order to pay for services, etc. I won't go into raw materials and trade routes, all of this brouhaha you are spewing has nothing to do with 'African Americans feeling rejected context', when Tyla stated "she is Coloured". As I indicated earlier, Im not adopting a 'narrative or claims', as you put it, if you disagree with our oral tradition, Archaeological discoveries, Anthropological and scientific outcomes, find tge appropriate platform to debunk my statements.

Don’t get it twisted, if Asad and Adrian were black people from another African country you guys wouldn’t be treated by South Africans in the manner that you are being treated, your proximity to whiteness (by being Americans) leads to South Africans treating you guys like mini celebrities. I have watched this same court tell us it's okay for presidents to recieve bribes, commit fraud, and sell pardons; because working under the presidential seal affords them new blanket immunity. In all likelihood, Thomas and Altio will step down if Trump wins paving the way for him to put 2 new, younger, radical, right-wing apointees to lifetime positions on the court. The republicans entire stragedy has been to file frivolous law suits, lose, and then appeal them up the Supreme Court to build new legal precedent. This has nothing to do with identity politcis. Those of us currently living here in the US are feeling the pain as we watch our rights get snatched away from us in plain sight and fear what's to come if he is elected again. I don't have the energy to play around with West's socialism/free everything and disbanding NATO/all US bases abroad nonsense. Does it really matter if her father is black or not? Why do you care? If she says she's black, why do you think you know her ancestry better than her? She identifies as black so that is good enough for me!

As a Black South African I’m ashamed embarrassed by this whole Chidima situation, not all of us are on the hate train. Hellen Zille’ s parents are German but nobody investigating her cause she’s ⚪️, there’s an Asian girl in the pageant and she was not investigated. The rage is not consistent, it’s only towards Black Foreigners. And to the people saying Being SAn is by Blood line, Do you guys even know that would make ⚪️Non SAns ?because their bloodline is European ?. And if It’s by Nationality/paper that would put All Non Black SAns in the same category as Chidima. You guys will claim everybody else, Elon Musk, Nara smith, even Doja Cat. People who don’t care about yall but will take a whole two weeks attacking a Black Woman who’s a lawful citizen.

Just say ethnic lineage in South Africa do not matter because "we are an international nation of migrants". You are also deliberately falsifying the sentiments of Black South Africans on who is South African. There is that little thing called conquest, colonialism and Apartheid that happened....

This fake WOKEISM needs to stop ! A Black South African woman and possibly her children have suffered immensely for the past 23 years because of the identity fraud . They have probably not been able to open bank accounts , VOTE or acquire any social benefits ( like child grants and NSFAS )only available to citizens . Such children can't even take part in certain inter-school sports tournaments because these require a child's documentation. We saw this with Thabo Bester and the anger that resulted !!! Their lives are just doomed . The mother probably couldn't even apply for certain jobs or an RDP home etc. Some end up with criminal records because of crimes committed by the person who duplicates their identity. Which means they are now excluded from certain jobs e.g financial sector and legal jobs ! Some are financially black listed because the fraudster took credit using the identity. Meaning they cannot apply for credit finance such as Home loans /mortgages , car finance etc ! Many of these children who cannot claim their SAn citizenship become SUICIDAL when they become young adults as they watch all their peers go to tertiary institutions and progress in life whilst they can't simply because they are treated as frauds by the state. You need an ID or passport to apply for tertiary education in SA. Even writing matric requires documentation . One such learner attempted suicide in 2018 ! That's when Umalusi changed the rules for matric registration to accommodate such learners. Over 80% of undocumented learners are South Africans experiencing this identity theft or other documentation issue with the Department of Home Affairs. How many fraudulent people are wrongfully claiming NSFAS , child grants, RDP homes , applying for tenders tenders etc at the expense of genuine citizens and the SAn tax payer ? Stop dismissing everything as xenophobia. Stop gas lighting people. This blind wokeness is the reason why criminal syndicates have made SA their haven !

Her mother acquired their citizenship through identity fraud !!!!! Let that sink in. Even DJ Sbu has apologized unreservedly for calling South Africans xenophobes and afrophobes for questioning Chichi's identity.
