Okay, a QUESTION is disrespectful? And let's just say Kehlani definitely, actually felt it was disrespectful--and didn't just indicate so in a tweet for any number of reasons--Kehlani couldn't use some of those profound, spiritual and mature words she's used several times before--particularly with those she likely knows would check her ass if she gave them that same stank attitude on THEIR show?? I reason this out more fully above. One can like her music AND call bullshit on her handling of the situation both from a professional and personal maturity and also a parent perspective.

Would you ask someone in a professional setting if they wanted to “scissor” another coworker? … never mind the fact that they’re already in a relationship. That was invasive& disrespectful to their S/O. The opening comment about the pronouns might have been unintentional but it definitely was disrespectful. You just say “she” or “they” (I believe they prefer they-which if you did do your research, you’d know). By saying it that way, it sounds like you were acknowledging that they go by different pronouns then dismissing them all in the same sentence. Wish this was handled better.

Like let’s think back to the previous interview they did with Kehlani, it wasn’t all this then, clearly she wasn’t in her element, she wasn’t feeling respected. If you noticed her “pouting and crossing her arms” maybe it’s your liberty to make your GUEST feel more comfortable! How are you complaining that she came early when she could’ve wasted everyone’s time and shown up late. Everything she used to defend herself, made me cringe. When I watched the interview at first, without knowing the drama, I still thought the beginning intro was a bit too dramatic with her pronouns as being APART of the LGBTQ+ community… as an “ally” you don’t get to assume you’ve came off respectful. We love questions that dig deep, I’m sure that’s why she came there since the other interviews pretty much touch on the same revolving questions she’s already tired of. Let’s just keep them solid when you already she she’s apprehensive about answering the questions you’ve already asked. Pushing the buttons!

Yes, the Sza thing was a joke, but like...read the room. Her energy is already off, why would you PROCEED to ask that? A real journalist can improvise on the fly after seeing their participant is not receptive. All in all, instead of coming so hard and ruining your reputation with her altogether, Lorel should just sit back and reflect on how she can improve her future interviews. This is not Hollywood Unlocked, if you wanna be messy and not ask about music, maybe that's where she should go...or back to Lip Service with Angela Yee. Those questions are more appropriate for a SEX podcast. Not an album promo interview.

Not only that but y’all refuse to even address or take accountability for the distasteful way that y’all mentioned Sza and their friendship. You really thought saying scissoring with sza was appropriate for an interview? Then you claim you did your research on Kehlani, but failed to see that they were in a whole relationship with Dani (070 Shake)?? Then you gaslight them over how they felt mocked during your introduction. Regardless of you saying you meant it with no ill intent, that doesn’t changed how Kehlani perceived it in that moment. If you truly meant it with no ill intent and cared about the person you interviewed, you would’ve just apologized. There wasn’t one genuine apology in this video. this whole video should've been an apology for the scissoring comment and nothing more. no matter how cold and distant someone may seem you don't know how they're doing that morning and could simply be tired, or they could be dealing with something much heavier. there is no reason to make that comment no matter how disrespected you may feel, and I can tell you she not once thought to dismiss your show based on the perceived value or popularity of it. if you feel disrespected react with patience, not hostility

Lori, you need to call YOURSELF out upon the way that you presented yourself. It honestly was your tone. Kehlani has always been respectful and genuine in every interview she's done, all she asks for is the same energy back. All talk from these two and little reflection. In my opinion, this response comes off as gaslighting behavior. Getting defensive because Kehlani did not want to roll with yalls script. Downplay the actions that led to her attitude while emphasizing how problematic her attitude because -- "Khelani was not nice to us" "She had such an attitude"-- all because she was not going to act / validate yalls egos. All the while, yall are just stoking the fire, asking her personal questions like how often she goes to therapy and about her personal relationships. Rarely was it about her music. Then they be flexin their connections, accusing her of being too good for urban media....then coming for how many albums she sold.... Yall are trash if youd rather defend your reputation at the expense of someone else's. And to broadcast it everywhere too. We dont owe anyone niceness. And theres a difference between being NICE, and being KIND, and Kehlani was kind enough to continue with the interview despite the disrespect.... I rewatched the interview a couple of times and to be honest... Kehlani never really acts that way in interviews at all. This is a first. Now, for the pronouns; for me I would find it very rude to just start the interview by saying their pronouns. It should roll of the tongue naturally. Just because OTHER radio places may do something that the artist found very pleasing to the ears at one point does not mean its gonna be the same for yall. I also dont understand why are you upset miss thing, raising your voice and knowing that THE "scissoring" comment is NOT appropriate for you to even say WHEN YOU ARE INTERVIEWING A ARTIST that is part of the queer community. If you respect anybody in the LGBTQ+ Community, you would know that comment is incorrect. Kehlani does not need any media training, maybe you do actually... because you should APPROVE these questions before you start sitting down and disrespecting an artist. Also, its very low of you to say about her copies being sold and streams.... when your channel barley has less than 70k subscribers... girl, sit down, stop huffing and puffing and get some proper training. Wheoever is your management should really see all of your interviews and see how many sexual references yall do....

If it wasn't out of line for him to use the pronouns the way he did, it was not inappropriate for her to ASK IN A CLARIFYING MANNER BASED UPON WHAT PEOPLE ACTUALLY SAY AND WANT TO KNOW, about "Scissoring". In the LGBTQIA group some of us equate how easily offended we get with something said or done, with that something said or done INTENTIONALLY WITH SOME KIND OF AGENDAAAA. Some among us do do that selective offended shit, even when someone is clearly ignorant; the appropriate response is to educate. I can't see Kehlani acting like that with Charlamagne, Big Boy, Cruz or Angie Martinez.

1. To continue w/the interview despite the artist’s mood was professional, yes. 2. It probably would’ve been more effective to just say her name, rather than a pronoun, it did come off as mockery, not saying it was your intention, but the line was unnecessary. 3. You were invasive by asking her relationship questions about 070, & insinuating she’s been intimate w/her friends Meg & SZA 4. The SZA/Scissoring line was totally uncalled for (the next invasive part, whether true or not...inappropriate to address) 5.you as the interviewer should’ve asked before hand “are there any questions that we shouldn’t ask” out of respect for the artist to avoid making the artist uncomfortable. ....to address it like this is now unprofessional... Of course she’s on a promo run to sell more albums. That’s what all artist do right? The low blow was unnecessary. A simple apology would’ve worked if Kehlani’s perception wasn’t accurate with your intentions. Maybe you guys need media training ❤️

All Lore'l did was ask a question that gave Kehlani an opportunity to clarify, correct, and educate: and had Kehlani's attitude been professional and mature and all spiritual as with any other interviewers, most times when she was more keen to be perceived in those ways, she might had done so--instead of play the victim. This was not good leadership on her part during Pride month, not a good example. Just being offended is not helpful nor even a true representation of the our community: reminds me of that time when she jumped on with Hayley Kiyoko being offended at the collab song about kissing girls, FROM THE EXPERIENCE AND PERSPECTIVE OF THOSE GIRLS WHO WROTE & PERFORMED THE SONG, Kehlani is not the LGBTQIA police, she should work on representing her own mind before crusading and trying to blast people with accusations of mockery or whatever.

I’m confused because if you know kehlani she doesn’t care if you are big or small she will partake in what she wants to partake in so saying you interviewed all these greats doesn’t carry weight. Also, you began the interview using her pronouns because y’all did y’all “research” by watching another interviewer but the difference was he ASKED. He didn’t ramble on he respectfully asked. Y’all assumed that was a green light for y’all which is why she emphasized “if you don’t know just ask don’t make a mockery out of it” which is how it came off to start an interview. Also if you really know about kehlani she’s addressed the fact that people think because she takes pics w Sza & Meg or ANY female that she’s dealing w them so to make a comment about scissoring Sza was unnecessary especially if you already can see she has her guard up. Now trying to come for her aggressively is super unprofessional imo. If dude already made a one minute video explaining himself in a kind way why is he now on this video backing Lorel up and adding fuel to her fire? Now his apology/defense video doesn’t mean anything at this point.

CORRECTION: she goes by “they” OR “her”. If you care about the LGBTQ+ community, you know that “they” IS NOT “she”, it’s OR. To say “they are here” is fine- by saying “they” you acknowledge their gender non-binary identity. You’ve acknowledged them as they, but when you say “they is she” you cancel out “they”. It’s like someone who was born Samantha and then identifying as gender fluid as they got old identify as “Sam” and tell you they prefer “Sam” but “would be ok with Samantha” that’s your cue to know this is them understanding folks slip up. If you then say “Sam is here and who is Sam, Sam is Samantha” you basically said “You’ll always be Samantha” which is hella disrespectful. Folks can write a lot of shit in their music. There are some profound lyrics in kehlani’s music. But you chose to focus on a lyric about intimacy which was hella childish. That’s like Kendrick coming on your show, wanting to talk about “Auntie Diaries” and instead of talking about a meaningful lyric you turn around and say “So Kenny, ‘Auntie Diaries is a powerful song where you talk about your trans family member. Can you break down the lyric ‘she wasn’t gay, she ate p***y…” for us?” Like out of all the shit you can ask you ask about that? It’s poor journalism. It SHOWS you didn’t invite her on the show because that was poor prep for an interview. Where this interview went wrong, was Kehlani’s doing-cuz she should have walked out the minute you played with and made a mockery of the pronouns.

Lore’l was right. Kehlani is doing this because she thinks this isn’t a big platform. She knows that people are going to side with her because of her influence.

Kehlani is always a joy and a bright light. Doing the whole "they" and "she" intro was off rip just a bad tone to start with, and wasn't funny. Big bird in the yellow she need to take a seat because you don't need to start insulting Kehlani. She clearly didn't know how to be an adult at the end of this video. It was uncalled for. That's why she called it whack, because of y'all whack ass energy. 🛑🚩

PERIOD None of her silly stans here are beginning with that premise, which is the only appropriate one. The other thing is I simply CANNOT SEE Kehlani bringing herself on The Cruz Show, The Breakfast Club, into Big Boy's Neighborhood, or sit with Angie Martinez--to say nothing of Allure, Cosmopolitan, Vogue, etc--with that same stank attitude. Way too many people are missing the social hierarchy calculation implications of her behavior. Kehlani actually has a track record of this, doing shit to see what she can get away with and how her fans will defend her regardless.
