@@yaziyoit's funny because it all comes from the fact that back in 1998, Montenegro adopted the Deutsche Mark (after the period in 1995-1996 where the Yugoslav Dinar was one of the least worth currencies in the world and there was hyperinflation, they decided just going with Germany's currency would give them some stability), and as a result they automatically changed to Euro in 2002, being the first ex-Yugo country to use Euro as their currency, even before now EU members like Croatia (2023) and Slovenia (2009). And at first the fact that a non-EU, non-Eurozone country was using Euro unilaterally didn't go down well in ECB HQ in Frankfurt, or in Brussels, Luxembourg or Strassbourg. But Montenegro responded something along the lines "If we're gonna join in a few years, it would be stupid for us to ditch Euros now and make a currency just so we would start using Euros again in a few years" and after that the EU was like "Okay fair enough". Such a Chad move from Montenegro lmao

Just because they are NATO and use Euro means nothing because there are few EU members that are not in NATO and do not use EURO. EU can’t afford not to have Serbia. Serbia doesn’t need to recognize Kosovo, but only to “normalize” relations.(Cyprus is in EU even though divided). They stayed one country longer then other Yugoslavia republics and are still very close nations. So Serbia and Mne are way ahead snd will join by 2030…next are Albania and NMac,and they are years behind in process would follow few years after maybe 2035. @JmKrokY3 ай бұрын
I never understood why people assume Croatia is where it is because of tourism, Dalmatia is not that wealthy. The most developed county in Croatia is the City of Zagreb, which is the most developed and populus county in Croatia, does not really have much tourism, it has more finance and industry. The second most developed county, Primorje-Gorski Kotar is also a largely industrial region with the centre of the county being the port city of Rijeka. I doubt Varaždin and Međimurje counties in the north, Karlovac county in the centre, and Osijek-Baranja county in the east have much tourism. If people had no tourism, they would just do something else instead of tourism.

@@hesher3587among those 5 there are some variations. For example you have Greece and Romania who seem to be at least somewhat open to the idea of normalizing relations with Kosovo, even if not outright recognizing them, for example they actually voted in favour of Kosovo joining the Council of Europe just a few months ago as a separate member. Then you have Spain and Cyprus which are actually very diplomatically hostile towards Kosovo (sometimes more than Serbia itself even) and in the same vote to let Kosovo join the Council of Europe they voted against (in fact they were the only two countries voting against Kosovo joining the Council of Europe alongside Serbia (duh) and Hungary, which is funny because Hungary DOES fully recognize Kosovo as a state). Spain has always stated they would only recognize Kosovo when Serbia recognizes it (which means pretty much never) but Cyprus went up a notch and stated they wouldn't recognize Kosovo as an independent state even if Serbia did. Balkanization is an offensive term, Balkan as a name for the "peninsula" is wrong, it is the name of a mountain that is 99.5% in Bulgaria and 0.5% in Serbia, and people from SE Europe should, of course, stop using that term (this is not cancel culture btw)

EU unfucked like 90% of europe, we'd be all under the thumb of the USA, with like tribal standards of living, and some specks of countries being what china was 20 years ago, but way too small to fight back US control. China would probably be on a similar trajectory, but without europe as a partner, it would have broken under US pressure and had to do something about it's trajectory on human rights. It would also mean that US Oil lobby would have been able to break Chinas ambitions to become the monopoly for green tech, or if green tech was stronger locally in the US, it would have become a strong enough lobby by itself to fend off oil lobbies. Japan and America would probably be like the two poles of the world like people thought when they made cyberpunk
