Blackbeard and without it the story wouldn't land the same after 1000+ episodes of showing how their both the same but go about it differently. Imu is set up to be a great villain but doesn't have the same built in themes as an antagonist like Blackbeard does.

He right, the story has deliberately followed BB and Luffy and demonstrated how theyre both vying for the same goal with the exact opposite methods. The point of the pie scene was to make this characterization immediately. He was literally the only person to believe in dreams like Luffy did upon introduction. BB uses indirect methods unbefitting of a king. He wants freedom but in a way that will bring darkness to the world and Luffy will bring the Dawn. Thematically it has always been about them two. Personally, I suspect he defeats Imu then by some plot shenanigans has to deal with BB afterwards to stake his claim as the Pirate King

My crazy crazy take.... Blackbeard will be the final villain after he teams up with luffy to defeat Imu. Sort of like how Naruto Shippuden ended. I think blackbeard wants a goal sort of similar to luffys but his ways to obtain it are vastly different from luffys. Imu stands in the way of both of their visions and that they need to team up to beat Imu. Then they fight one on one in the end.

Seb is right, Imu is still a mystery-we don’t even know if they can fight or what their true abilities are. While they clearly have some form of power, that's the extent of what we know. In contrast, Blackbeard has had extensive buildup throughout the story, with significant character development and clear ties to Luffy’s journey. Prioritizing a fight with Imu over Blackbeard wouldn’t make sense, especially when Imu’s role could naturally end though someone like Dragon, who has a stronger personal stake in opposing them. Blackbeard is a much more fitting final opponent for Luffy’s story arc in my opinion

Go back further. Shanks is only permanently damaged twice in the story as far we know. Once by BB who did so by force, the second in protecting Luffy… And these injuries are on the same side of his body.

Larry and Law's only argument is literally "Imu started ALL this so Luffy has to end it" 💀 which doesn't make sense at all. Yeah BB would have to off Shanks in order for the beef to be more personal. But Luffy and his crew don't even know who Imu is or even exists yet vs. BB, who has been in the series since Jaya and has had more impact on Luffy's life. Im not even a fan of BB personally, but Luffy would have to get the BIGGEST info dump about Imu in order for him to even think about Imu over BB as far as who he has to beat. But also narratively a pirate taking down the boss of the World Gov sounds way too Hero of the day for Luffy anyway

I agree that personal stakes puts Akainu at the top. But part of me doesn't think they will fight. The setup with the gorose, imu, god knights, and Aokiji makes me feel like the Navy might turn on the world government, at which point, Akainu might not fight Luffy. I agree that Blackbeard is being built up to be the end boss. We see him a lot. There is a lot of him maneuvering, building, growing, and being a dark reflection of Luffy. It started in Skypeia prelude, but it just keeps happening. Most recently, Raleigh just not liking him is an inversion of his inherent liking of Luffy. He was involved in Ace's death, has Garp right now, and he's been foreshadowed to kill Shanks. Blackbeard has been built up for so long, he's got to be the most important villain in the show. I'd say a final fight between him and Luffy is more important than the final fight between Naruto and Sasuke.

I think everyone is entirely missing the point of Luffy's goal. He wants to be the freest man in the world and his avenue to obtaining that runs through the title of pirate king. At no point the story has Luffy ever cared about the void century, we know for a fact that Luffy doesn't even care about the one piece actually is because he's just a long for the ride. We Learned that in Sabody at the bar. Luffy is only going after the treasure because that's what the world says they'd recognize him as king for. Even now in the post time skip Luffy hasn't even let Robin read him the paper about the world events outside of Law and Kidd telling everyone that he became the new Yonko, so Luffy doesn't even know about the things going on around his assent to the top yet. He is canonically oblivious to Imu's entire side of things so to say that it's more important to luffy as a character is just flat out not true. Imu is just choosing to stand in Luffy's way where as Luffy is all but indifferent to everything between him and becoming King. So while story wise Luffy ending on Blackbeard may be less interesting lore wise in the story, it's probably the most true to his character if that were to happen

I think the straw hats are going to be the final “enemies”. The Dragon Fruit is going to take over Luffy’s will, completely taking over who he is. With that power he will be able to beat IMU but lose himself in the process. The Straw Hats are going to team up and fight Luffy to force him to regain his true self. This makes it so it’s no longer joyboy. No longer Nika. But in the end, after so many arcs of Luffy going to great lengths to save his crew it ends with his crew saving him.

IMO it would make more narrative sense for IMU to be defeated by Dragon and the revolutionary army than the strawhats. IMU and the gorosei are conniving, scheming, pulling strings behind the curtains, to the point where we don't know what their actual power is. Perfect parallel to Dragon: direct antagonist to the World Government ideology, a smart leader, implied to be powerful but not shown directly other than their power of influence above others, member of the D clan and a strategist. Luffy is way more emotionally driven, in a way most comparable to blackbeard. Sure Teach sets out a plan beforehand and follows it after for the most part, but that plan is laid on foundations of emotion, Blackbeard gets what he wants. Blackbeard has been a direct opposite to Luffy as shown in plain text that it would make sense for him to oppose the MC and leave the two enigmatic, pragmatic, mysterious leaders of opposing factions to face each other. Plus the rev army are the ones that are ACTUALLY wanting to overthrow the current world order, Luffy does so consequentially as these things pop up along the way of him becoming the pirate king

@@jext1 well, bb defeated ace just on a df level. He now has two very strong fruits. Since after wano they have only shown base arm haki. So I think bb wins currently. If sabo has an upgrade like advanced obs or arm I think bb will too and I think he wins off of df power. I don’t even think sabo and bb will fight but if they did sabo would need some kind of advanced haki to beat him and I think bb would be able to match whatever that would be. Total speculation

BB defeating Shanks shouldnt be a thing. If BB goes attacks/kills Vivi thatd would be the tipping point to Luffy. Personally I'd rather see Luffy vs BB and Imu vs the Strawhat's Fleet or the Revs. Pretty much just want Imu to be strong enough that Luffy alone cant beat em and The Strawhats gotta jump em.

Blackbeard is literally the strongest antithesis to Luffy that has been built up for a 1000+ chapters plus his crew has perfect match-ups for luffy's crew Imu is endgame maybe but we dont know for sure Lawrence and Larry Trippin your telling me youd rather see luffy beat imu than see Blackbeard crew vs Luffys Crew is vastly more hype than Imu and Godknights world government etc vs Strawhat fleet and Revolutionary army
