I love that about the Good Samaritan being Jesus. I heard once that early Christians saw Jesus in every parable.

What an awesome moment when you said our neighbor is Muslim down the street... thank you for showing that ALL people are loved by God and Jesus gave us a beautiful example by using the person as you said is the "racial, religious, enemy" (or so perceived) and loved by Jesus just the same. So well put in the times we are now living through where we are seeing such hate and not love as JESUS would have preached in these times. As you said NO one is OUTSIDE the neighborhood of Gods love.

He answered and said unto him, Go in all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy mind, and to the Lord thy God, and to thy neighbor as thyself. - (Luke 10:27 [CBS-OV-1938]) My favorite Bible verse. 🇱🇰

What a fabulous sermon, Peter! Captivating and motivating all the way through. "Charge it to my account," is a most wonderful summary. I never made the connection to the story being a metaphor for what Christ did for all of us, "even when we hated him." What a wonderful lesson. Thank you.

The person who is suffering is a reflection of Christ Matthew 25:31-46 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat I was a stranger and you invited me in was naked and you clothed me I was sick and in prison and you visited me. For in as much as you did this to the least of these you did it to Me.... The Good Samaritan is Christ in skin as in all those who have received Christ into their lives. We are commanded to love one another just as Christ loved us John 13:34-35 John 15:9-17 We are to have a willingness to place Service Above Self in reaching out in helping others for the glory of God...Amen Good Samaritan

Wonderful, wonderful point. I think, though, by the time I truly studied the Good Samaritan, I understood who my neighbor was. When you told the modern version of the Good Samaritan, it horrified me to think that anyone could pass by that situation and not help. But then I remember teaching my daughter about strangers. I taught her to yell fire instead of, I'm being attacked. Why? Because, even back then, people didn't want to get involved. People would respond to a cry of fire because a fire doesn't involve truly getting involved. You won't have to be a witness for a fire, other than the brief time of calling the fire department and perhaps checking out the fire, you won't have to go above and beyond. If you are being assaulted, at least, if you yell fire, you have a chance of being helped or rescued. How sad. Thinking back to the time of Christ, even then, our neighbor wasn't our neighbor. Today, very few people will go out of their way to help even the people who are our own neighbors, who are like us. Lack of being a neighbor isn't a modern day problem. It has always been a problem. Thank God for the cross.

Followers of the Guidelines of Problacism believe this is the most important of all parables in the Bible. It means that you should INDESCRIMINATELY love and show kindness and compassion to everyone, regardless of their politics, opinions, beliefs or non-beliefs, their sexual orientation, how they identify or if they are your enemy.....etc. People who can commit themselves to this will find that they will become engaged with the synchronicity or the 'Force of Nurture' in the universe and they will eventually become totally fulfilled and content, and not suffer from any anxieties, fears or depression.

I suppose these are recorded with a live audience, rather than as a rehearsal? I only wonder as I have never heard even a cough or a communal turn of Bible pages in the audience. Wonderful speaking, fantastic words. Helps me both on my school studies and as a believer :)
