It doesn't matter what negative things people say about Goldberg because he found a way to continue to live his life after an injury that must have placed plenty of doubt in his life as a football player! He found something to live for, went after it, got paid, started a family and in the process, left his fans with many wrestling memories for years to come!!! I, certainly, as a WCW wrestling fan, appreciate the excitement of his career, especially when he beat Hulk Hogan back in the day!!! And in the WWE, when he defeated Brock Lesnar, that was great!!! Bill Goldberg is a legend because he was a spectacle. Don’t care that his move set was limited, because his moves were intense and powerful. It's always Vince and his petty ego that is responsible. You have to remember that even though Triple H has a lot of influence due to his marriage with Stephanie, it's always Vince who gets the final say in anything. Plus, with the benefit of hindsight, it also does not help that hangers-on like Kevin Dunn will try and give their last minute input to make Vince change his mind. The only WCW guy who had been spared burial by McMahon is debatably Eric Bischoff, who was treated rather well throughout his run as RAW GM (and as a bonus, Bischoff mended fences with Stone Cold Steve Austin during their run as co-GMs, having moved past their initial feud over Austin's dismissal from WCW).

And deliver he did. He possessed the physique, the raw intensity and power, coupled with his in ring athleticism and no nonsense approach. The kids and adults saw this and gravitated towards that character. Boom!

I dont care how stupid the choice they made on putting the hogan match on free t.v. that night will always be apart of my childhood. I think just about all my family was packed into our living room which was really different from other Monday nights but this felt different. As my 8 year old self sat on the floor with my other cousins since all the older cousins and adults had all the seats. That crowd in the georgia dome was huge and jacked all night and we were to all the way in my little house in South Carolina. We we watched him defeat hall first that night which is forgotten for some reason as the only way he could get to hogan was if he defeated hall first. That just was a cool night. My little house was just a loud as the georgia dome had to be speacially when page and malone helped goldberg from getting the usual nwo treatment then the 1 2 3.

Kevin Nash did not book himself to break Goldberg's streak. Go listen to 83 Weeks with Eric Bischoff.

07/06/1998 I was in The Georgia Dome for the Goldberg vs Hogan Belt match. I've been to many sporting events. But that match was different. People were chanting Goldberg all the way to the CNN center. Chills till this day

I could only imagine the excitement man that must’ve been awesome. Closest I got to that kind of hype was we’d show when Shawn Michaels came out back in the late 90s

I remember that PPV where Nash took down Goldberg. WCW wasn't the same after that. I loved Goldberg and it kinda killed my passion because the writing didn't seem to be as good.
