I love the new merch.❤ I had a Dutch friend that was a young child during WWII. She shared how her family (and community) survived the war by eating their tulip bulbs. She knew so many ways to cook and eat tubers and bulbs. I feel it’s important to share her story and honor her memory.🕊️

I worked with a Dutch lady. She talked about how the tulips took hours to cook. The German soldiers would go into homes, toss out the cooked tulips so they would have to start over. She was such a delight and made the best buttery cookies.

I believe Daylight Savings Time was introduced to "lengthen" the days in spring and summer for farmers when agriculture was the center of society.

@michelleherald9619Ай бұрын
@yesterdayseyes I agree.
@nicolecarolee4215Ай бұрын
No. That's a common misconception. It was created to save energy/fuel during World War I and has always been about energy conservation. The agriculture industry/farmers lobbied against DST and lost.

Even the farmers who it was supposed to help hate it.
@leapintothewildАй бұрын
@@nicolecarolee4215 Yep, and along with the farming, another misconception was that it had to do with kids traveling back and forth to school or waiting for the bus in the dark - though that one still comes up a lot today when discussing whether we should be changing time at all.

Here in Minnesota it was explained to me years ago that the time changes were so the kids on school busses don't have to be standing roadside or let out the bus roadside in the dark. Rural areas have less street lighting and car drivers could not see the kids in the dark. Safety reasons to shift daylight time frames.

Daylight saving time allows for a longer working day with sunlight. It’s great for farming and tending crops without it getting dark before you are finished. In the winter you don’t need to be outside so getting dark earlier is not interfering. I prefer DST over standard time because I don’t care for getting off work in the dark.

Wouldn't it look nice if you used a more cone shaped Boxwood (maybe Green Mountain or one of the new "Better Boxwoods' varieties) on either side of the entrances in the quadrants to the former flower garden? It's so good that you "outsource" anything you don't need to do. Especially as a family with young kids, you want to do what ONLY YOU can do. Anything that can be don't by someone else that doesn't fit your purposes, your roles should be outsourced. Especially because your budget allows for it. 😊💗

From the videos, it does seem you do work well with your “team”…or you wouldn’t be able to get everything done that you do. Oh, and I love the way you describe how you are with each other…a little push back is healthy for a relationship and how boring would it be without that.
