Great breakdown as always Shaun, spot on with Tate's preferred method of bodyshot KO's. Sparred with him a few times many years ago back in the good old Luton days at Storm and he's one of the only people I've ever sparred with who'd pinpoint your liver and put you down. Tate was actually ranked #2 in the world at 85kg in 2012 right before his loss to Fraci Grajs (the winner of the 2012 85kg enfusion tournament). In 2011-2014 he was definitely elite. Awkward style, though. I used to work on shows with Daz Morris who is Bispings Thai coach, and we had Tate on the shows a few times. Vinny Shoreman actually sang his praises back then and it was easy to see why, he's always been legit. As good as he looks when sparring, he has another gear in actual fights. Also this being boxing sparring, the distances and timings are so different to what he is actually really good at so you're not even seeing the full extent of his skillset here. Which I'm sure you know, but for others watching who might not, Tate has way more to offer than what is in this video

This is by far the best footage I've seen of his. It's also the only footage where he actually looks legitimately pro-level. His fights (the ones I've seen) are journeyman level at best. Very linear motion, going for 95% power shots and very little footwork. I would still argue he's absolutely not elite level. But the guy made probably the most important point--there's a thousand levels between a schlub on the street and an elite-level world champion. Tate's on neither the top nor the bottom.

Sorry, second most important point. The most important point is that he's a self-snitching sex trafficking con artist who exploits insecure dudes lacking good models for masculinity to pad his bottom line.

Max power as well. It was just me and my bird and I could barely walk to the car. It was one of them she was trying not to laugh because I was in real pain. Take this with a grain of salt. But ive heard most kick boxers aren't very good in pure boxing. Not only because the range is different. But because in kick boxing your legs are more useful than your hands. So a lot of people don't have as much skill with their hands as a boxers who's a lower caliber of skill than them overall.

Of course he can fight, anyone that steps into any ring of any organisation even if it’s not a top tier championship is a fighter. Even if the said fighter loses all the time, he’s still a fighter, a seasoned fighter who premeditatedly steps into the ring after sleepless nights. Only fighters know that feeling n you have to respect your opponent for turning up too.

Off course the guy fights. Clearly he adapts the opponnent, and the most important thing he controls the distance and that is what fighting is all about. The guy who controls the distance sets the pace of the fight. If he is elite fight right know, of course he isnt. Was he some kind of anderson silva, pereira, jones etc etc off course not. But to know how to fight you dont have to be the best in the world.

Cerrone said he was a fraud. But with the massive size advantage, Tate would wreck Cerrone on the feet. I don't think you can really argue that. Cerrone is known for not moving his head, and being weak to the body. I was actually surprised to see Cerrone hating on him so much, and when Tate heard the news, he was fairly calm and polite in his response.
