I am playing Lili I love her movement and just her overall look and feel. I am relearning Tekken so I have a ways to go before I am even somewhat good with her but I plan on sticking with her before branching out to other characters.

I love videos like this where we get to hear how people first got into fighting games. I feel like I've been playing them on and off for my whole life, but if i really think about it, I only started a handful of years ago. As for who I'll be playing, it's gonna be some combination of Lee, Steve, and King. I avoided Lee and Steve for a long time in T7 because even though I thought they looked cool, I heard they were "hard" so I stuck to "easy" characters like Lars and Josie. When I finally took the plunge and tried them, I discovered they weren't actually that hard and I began having a much better time playing a character I enjoyed. And King's animations are so sweet in T8 I have to give him a try.

Funny thing tekken 7 was my first fighting game, after 7 years of playing it, and looking back, I realised how much iv improved during the years. Idk I’m yapping, but tekken will always have a special place in my heart, because it help me understand that I can do anything I put my mind to it. For example when I picked up the game, I thought I’ll never do an ewgf or wavedash, Korean backdash, ect. Now I’m a fujin rank player who can Korean back dash ect, also thx to tekken I was able to pick up street fighter 6 quickly, and hit master rank pretty fast, for a first time street fighter player. If anyone read this in coherent rambling, I appreciate it.

I picked up Tekken 7 in 2021 with some friends. This wasn’t my first time playing a fighting game, but it was the first game I’d tried to play more consistent outside of a friend’s/cousin’s house. I just chose a random character that I thought looked cool, and that really was when I fell in love with fighting games. Yoshimitsu had such a goofy move set that it drew me to keep learning and playing, and eventually I would pick up Lee. I really have to thank Tekken 7 for getting me into fighting games cause I’ve tried out SF6, other fighting games, and am now waiting for Tekken 8 to drop in a few days. I still can’t hit electrics.

Im glad more people are getting into Tekken with 8 now! I got into Tekken with the second game when i got my ps1 for christmas as a kid way back in 97. So its hard for me say just how awesome it is that Tekken is still going strong. Because i started with 2, Jun is also a very important and nostalgic character for me as far as the Tekken story goes, even if her gameplay was originally supplanted by Asuka. I have mainly mained xiaoyu since tekken 5 so i hope tekken 8 has also been kind to her character and moveset 😅

I plan on going with King when the game drops but Jin has been a SUPER fun pick-em-up character with the demo. I feel playing Jin I've already better understood how tekken plays and get to see where the branches go with the other characters. Azucena and Kuma having EWGF already scare the hell out of me tho. I fear what some of the people at the locals will do with this info

7:25 So what you are saying is, you got the pre-wedding jitters? I'm going to give you the basic advice most experienced Tekken players will give you: Just pick whoever you think looks the most fun. The reason for this is simple: Tekken is a dense game and takes a good while to really learn. You won't know who should be your main until you have a solid feel for the fundamentals and how each character interacts with, and navigates these. Your first character pick is just whoever you start your introductory journey with. It's not marriage, it's just dating; you'll probably try a bunch of different characters before settling with someone that actually fits you. As someone who’s played Nina for years and dabbled in Bryan, I think Jun will be a smoother introduction. Less movelist and execution pitfalls to get stuck in, but don’t let that stop you. Go grab practice-mode-tea with whoever makes your heart flutter the most.

Unfortunately the character I started my Tekken journey with, Bruce Irvin , still hasn’t returned. Bruce was easily the coolest character to me when I first got Tekken 5. His fighting style and ending inspired me to take up kick boxing during my teens, and his moves were satisfying to launch plus his win poses and intro oozed cool factor. I decided once T6 came out I’d take him more seriously. I still remember the days when I saw footages of Bruce players launching with b2, and I tried desperately to do it but with no avail. It was there I discovered Tekken Zaibatsu and learned it’s only on counterhit. That opened so many doors for me and made me actually look up frame data and timing. I would see new terms like whiff punish, move notations like what 1,2,3,4 meant or db or uf. Before Tekken 6, I was just a casual fighting game player. It was that game that taught me a lot of the conventions and know how of the genre, and Tekken Zaibatsu was my main fighting game hub for several years till I branched off. Started taking Street Fighter more seriously later and using a lot of what learned in Tekken to improve there and eventually vice versa. I owe Tekken and Bruce Irvin for really getting me into fighting games and not just on and off couch games.

Your story remind me how I started playing tekken 7. It's a group night, so we bought tekken to beat each other up. Not sure why, I picked yoshimitsu and just smashing all the buttons to figure out a some tricks. I find that the d/b 3 is just perfect tool to torture my friends. Fast low high crusher, don't expect any beginner to punish that. Anyway I find this character kinda interesting and start playing online. Now, 800+ hr of yoshimitsu only gameplay after, I think picking yoshimitsu as your first character probably is not the brightest idea.

Hi! Long time Tekken player and viewer of your channel since Melty blood. You should pick whatever character you genuinely think looks the coolest and who you feel connected to outside of just gameplay (which based on your thoughts, seems to be Bryan). Bryan and Nina are both great to grow with because they have ‘scrubby’ moves for earlier ranks but really high execution and strategies once you get good and reach high levels of play. Jun is pretty fun and easier to play so I’d say try everyone out in T8 and see who sticks with you the most. Never base your decision on tier list/perceived power. Tekken is a game where characters are more homogenized and the game system is more important. If you’re going to be playing for dozens or hundreds of hours with a character, it might as well be the one you love

The story rundown on Unknown is that she’s and evil version of Jun from the Tag games. The Tag games aren’t considered canon so Unknown probably won’t appear in a main series Tekken game, she looks really cool though Angel is kind of like a spirit that represents Kazuya’s good nature. She appeared in Tekken 2 and fights Devil for control of Kazuya’s soul, but she has only been in the Tag games since. I don’t know if she’s gonna be brought back into the story in this game or future games, but it seems like Angel has lost the battle since Kazuya has fully embraced the power of Devil

I think having 3 potential characters is a great start and you don't have to fully commit to one right away. You might even see some character while playing online that you really think it's cool. Personally I'm going to try Reina, Devil Jin, and Jun, I've also been playing Kazuya in the demo so I'm a bit used to him already.

I am also new to seriously diving into Tekken, I've played a bit before but never went deep only surface level like 5 years after 7 came out and barely touched any before that. Since you want to know what we think, I think you should try and learn Bryan at the start, listening to all of the stories that one really stuck out to me and just felt right. After some time though it feels right that you should definitely play Jun and have some fun! Not hating on Nina but that's just what I felt. Now who do you think I should try? The characters I'm thinking of are Leroy, Steve and Zafina. I'm excited to catch you out there and we should play some matches sometime!

Anyone learning tekken for the first time. Don't get discouraged learning a character. It took me about a year to learn how i like to play in tekken. Which is very different from my Sf and ggst play. You might see a character and think they have all the tools you ever want. The. You play them for how ever long and figure out . Yeah this isnt it. I play very aggressive in Sf. So i thiught id pick up a character like Bryan or Jin but after a while i figured out i like pokes keeping you at bay and annoying you from a distance. So after many characters i picked up Alisa. And shes not defensive persay but she has everything i like. So she will most likely be my main in T8. As for you Andy id probably pick Jun

Short answer, Bryan is a cyborg zombie with as much anger as Tryndamere. Long answer if anyone's coming to this for advice; look at the roster then follow your gut instinct and just pick someone every character is viable and the end destination is the same, only the journey will be different. ^^

alot of the ppl that say shit like bryan is super hard to play dont understand why he can be hard to play lmao. His best moves are slow, and your goal is to make sure those connect. This also means u can get counter hit for free if you aren't careful. So its all about timing and knowing opponent patterns instead of all the execution that people exaggerate. He's hard to master not hard to learn.

Well, welcome to the Taunt Jet Upper trap. Bryan isn’t the hardest character in the game, he’s actually kinda comfy with very good keepout, but he has that one difficult maneuver that the entire player also salivates on despite only 3% of people actually being able to do and needing to do. Sortie about that, the Tekken community failed you there.
@deathhy7590
@deathhy7590 8 ай бұрын
bryan is a difficult character and considered as one of the hardest characters in the game by most high level players, it’s not just taunt jet upper, taunt b4 is crucial to bryan’s corner game, taunt dash is crucial and just fundamentally understanding the timing of taunt cancelling for mix ups etc not to mention how his strong low requires a qcb input , and his 14f launcher requires a fb input, obviously by themselves these aren’t hard, but no other character needs to do an entire qcb to get their strong low, and it makes it harder to keep hidden
@okureta
@okureta 8 ай бұрын
There are multiple other characters that need to execute a qcf input to do their strong lows: Nina, Paul, Leo. Mishimas and Bob need to execute a DP motion to access their good lows. Lars also has a f,b motion as his block punish, and nobody’s saying he’s difficult. Top players saying Bryan is difficult to play means he is difficult to play AT THE TOP LEVEL. Your average ranked Bryan will never even attempt a TJU or a fb2 at -14 - he’ll just keep doing 3+4 and orbitals at range 3, doing combos when he counterhits, and complaining when the opponent gets around them and starts pressuring.
@deathhy7590
@deathhy7590 8 ай бұрын
@@okureta lars doesnt ALSO have a taunt b4 or taunt jet upper that is crucial to his corner game, And a lot of the other characters you mentioend besides the mishima likes, are fundamentally easy outside of one qcf input, Bryan has ALL of these things on top of his taunt. No one said otherwise, you do realize you're watching a channel dedicated to playing fighting games at a high to pro level , right? This guy is always striving to be AT THE TOP LEVEL -in your words. Just because the average bryan doesn't utilize all his difficult attributes, (no high level player is losing to 3+4, orbitals and counter hits alone anyways) that doesn't mean hes not difficult lmao, again ask anyone in the tekken scene and they'll tell you otherwise
