This is a great piece. Short and to-the-point, and you made your points well. Thanks for putting this together for us Spurs fans!

...this are my picks...4th risacher...8th dillingham...if risacher is gone by the time the Spurs pick...I would do dillingham at 4 and Holland or Cody Williams or buzelis at 8...

@VernonTang-vs1do Elite? far far away from that. because of his height (6'1 + 6'3 wingspan) at best he'll be on D another Tre Jones (6'1 + 6'4 wingspan). No knock on Tre who do a really good job considering his physical limitation. In fact Tre Jones D Metrics are *average* (CraftedDBPM 0.4 / DDARKO -0.2 / DDRIP 0.9/ DBPM 0.1) with a very good deflection rate: 2.9 (81% of NBA players are worst). But he have no switchability (can't produce any D on big body) and in the paint he simply can't protect the rim due to his size. But I'm convinced Rob's offensive bag could work in the NBA, so I'm pretty ok if Spurs draft him. Spurs need shooter... At least a PG who can shoot and create his own shoot. That's exactly what Rob should (be able to) do.
@aspleen110214 күн бұрын
@VernonTang-vs1do I prefer Rob over Topic for sure. One is an elite shooter with an offensive bag (Rob) The other, Topic, can't shoot (26% at 3) even if I don't agree with you on the "slow" part. (It's more about Defensive IQ imo and maybe lateral speed?) Maybe my msg was to long to read it completely? or maybe you think beeing average at D is a bad metric for Tre Jones? (in fact it's fine for a PG, even more for an undersized one, it take into account every players in the NBA not just PG)

You know it’s a wild draft when everyone has a different pairing they would take. Right now I lean towards castle at 4 and Knecht at 8. But tomorrow I will probably have a different pairing. Sheppard seems to be a plug and play and fit just about whatever combo/iteration the spurs have. He might be the safest pick then grab who ever end up at 8 out of Buzelis/knecht/holland/williams.

Carlton Carrington he is a 6'5 PG he is a passer, good 3pt, 2pt shooter, and got one of best dribblings skills in the draft

*Reed* I'd love that too. undersized but high BBIQ, sniper, and he can jump! (42 inches at the draft combine) *Topic* I don't like that... A starting PG who can't shoot (26% at 3P) will not work in the NBA I mean He'll be able to score some in the paint, but no one will respect his range, so his D will be free to double Wemby or Vassell or clog the paint resulting in *L* at the end of games.

I thunk any point guard in this draft is a project. I think the should draft a big and a skilled 3 and D wing...Sign PG Malik Monk unrestricted free agent from Sacramento Kings. Teams are lining up for his services...The scoring-starved Orlando Magic should be in the mix for his services, with the desperate Detroit Pistons also likely to be interested. The Toronto Raptors have a void at the 2, and the San Antonio Spurs should be chasing anyone who can both shoot and pass." Hughes writes, "All of them will run the risk of spending big on a player coming off a career season in a contract year, but the competition is still going to juice up Monk's price well beyond Sacramento's range."

I like the professionalism, but the takes are atrocious - talks about the need for shooters and defence and mentions a guy who is purely a downhill scorer with no jumper, and another one who is 6'1 and, although puts the work on the defensive end, has no actual skill in that department Spurs need to exclusively take guys who have either size or proven defensive skills, and those who project as potential shooters (or are those already) - Risachier, Sheppard, Buzelis, Topić (yes he doesn't shoot, but has a soft touch and does well at the free throw line so he got potential) tick all those boxes - those are the guys that Spurs should be considering

They need another big to help Wemby on the paint. Josh Giddey will be a fine PG for Wemby.

I can’t believe ppl are sleeping on Zach Edey… imagine being called player of the year twice at 7’4 and not being top 10 ?
@sasukeuchiwa773516 күн бұрын
It's bc the game has evolved, most Bigs can't play against their back to the basket, they need to shoot 3pts and be a decent shooter in the paint so they can spread the floor. That's not Zack Edey's game
@greg_g714816 күн бұрын
@@sasukeuchiwa7735 agreed. The flip side to that however is that Edey draws a lot of help when he gets the ball low - freeing up outside shooters. Purdue shot like 40% from 3 this year. I'm curious to see how a good coach like Pop or Spoelstra would use him

Rob Dillingham is not the answer for the Spurs. The 6-foot-1, 159-pounder was a whiz in college, but this is the physical NBA. His body will not stand the wear and tear of the NBA. Ron Holland could help. I would rather the Spurs take Zaccharie Risacher and Matas Bezulis. Let them address point guard through free agency or trade.

Your way off on spurs needs , we need a true point guard that would help Wemby , not trea jones
@aspleen110214 күн бұрын
Tre is an old school PG, exactly what you call "true PG" he can pass, he can protect the ball, but even if I have hope he'll improve his jumpshot, atm he can't create his own shot. old-scholl PG who can pass but can't shoot are old-school for one reason... They don't work anymore in the NBA. In NBA post Curry era, the starting PG need to be a good to great 3P shooter.
