Andreas Scholl 👍🏼 his vocals are so clear you can understand every word and pleasantly male high.

When all the versions are equally sublime in their own way, the winner has to be the composer 🤭❤️ thanks for the video, I have really enjoyed it 🌷Bravi a tutti who have made me happy with their Cesares (in addition to the great mentions: Baker, Murray, Podles, Larmoore, Connolly, Oliver, Daniels, Zazzo, Lowrey or even the old Diaz and Dieskau 🙈) I’m crazy in love with the work and I always end the long musical journey, satisfied thanks to Handel.

Andreas Scholl is my favourite Giulio Cesare for all arias in this opera, his “Va tacito..” seems awesome to me.

Andreas Scholl, tiene un control de todo el registro increíble, y las versiones de Dumaux y Stutzmann detrás. Otra versión muy buena que falta aquí es la de David Hansen.

Contrary to one of your responders here, I regard this as an inspired and educational selection. I did not know Carlo Vistoli and so have another artist to research. Forget the detractors and keep up the good work for your loyal followers.

Andreas Scholl all the way from the introduction! Carlo Vistoli, next, for the whole aria's (accompaniment incl.) elegant splendor.

Wow, what a selection! I am not an expert, and it was very difficult for me to choose one, and it's already happened before, too. So I listened again and again. At the end, I still could not choose one. I chose two: Nathalie Stutzmann and Franco Fagioli. Thank you for these amazing videos! It would be nice to know your own preference, Daniel.

Thank you so much, Elena! I first heard this aria on an Andreas Scholl recital disc, so his performance of it is sentimental, but I would now choose Christophe Dumaux, although I do agree that Nathalie Stutzmann’s rendition is wonderful.

@@baroqueandbeyond Thank you, Daniel. There must be something I don't understand, because I've just looked through the comments and saw that many people liked Scholl and Dumeaux best. As I said, I loved all the renditions, but I made a different choice. I wish I knew why and what exactly there is that I did not hear in the same way as you and other people did.

@@judithveysey1274 Looking, not sounding... Actually he sounds very feminine... He is a great singer but it is impossible to say his voice sounds masculine... It is a shame that he incorporates so much vibrato though.

Dumaux, closely followed by Stutzmann. The other voices seem a little too fluffy to me.

Christophe, Natalie and Marijana, in no particular order. First one for the most beautiful musicality and elegance, the two girls for the richness of their voices. The rest leave me cold, I find most countertenors really unpleasant because they sound two-dimentional and quite often use a lot of force and tension to achieve that high voice - their throats are not open, their larynx goes up and down for the ornaments, just bad singing in general. Andreas Scholl to me is more suited for sacred music because he sounds a bit to sterile in opera. Beautiful selection nonetheless, I guess there something for every taste.

Andreas Scholl for his clean voice and diction unaffected by too much vibrato. I always say that too much vibrato is out of a good taste when overused. Again my opinion only. It should add extra colour but many singers overuse it. I do not think it sounds very "stylish" in Baroque music.

There is simply a baroque music age before and after Franco Fagioli.
