Heaven hill seemed to be doing their premium tastings in the VIP tents. Which to the general admission can make you think the distilleries were lacking. But it was great to meet you all there! I was the lead event videographer!

@@Sk8ndrummer963 We figured they must have been a lot of cool pours in the VIP tent. In previous years we were able to go into VIP but not this year. It was great to meet you, too!!

This was my first festival. Fortunately for me, my son works for one of the largest distilleries, and he got me VIP passes. I had my choice of anything that I wanted, and this was problem number 1. I'm an impulsive buyer ,so I spent too much money .problem 2 was too many samples, which led me back to problem 1. I didn't have to buy any bottles or just a couple because I was given 5 bottles before the festival started. Instead, I came home with 28 bottles and could've bought a car with what I had spent. This was my first and last KBF. I'm a traveling NP and have reduced my workload the last couple of years, but I'm going to have to increase my workload again. I guess that I can easily tell my wife that it's because of the economy. Good luck with your Bourbon journey. Heaven Hill was the best hands down.

Just remembered Penelope. They had a good selection. They tried to do frozen cocktail but had some difficulties getting things to freeze on Saturday. Good try so hopefully they figure out freezer tech next year and get on the list.

That Segrass slushy was fire!!! They had the most impressive selection IMO. But looking at this vid, I missed some nook and crannies in this fest! NULU hazmat was an awesome purchase as well as Augusta 8! Heaven Hill line was super long but went by the distillery, 4R ran out of SB right before we got to the tent after waiting. See you next year!

I agree with your James B Beam comments. I was disappointed with what pours they were offering. Although their cocktail they had was pretty good. The four roses tent and experience was probably my favorite experience, but my favorite tasting had to be the KBF pick at Larrikin. Hope to meet you two next year if I can make it. Cheers!

Great Video!!! You brought a great perspective to the festival. I have to admit I spent over 3 hours combined in the HH line on Friday and Saturday (The wife and I did get 2 Old Fitz and 2 HH18, missed the Parkers by about 60 people) plus another hour and a half in the Michter's line on Friday (10 year bourbon and toasted purchased didn't get them autographed). The wife and I spent most of our non line time in the craft section. I enjoyed talking and tasting with Augusta and Nulu (bottles purchased). The best bourbon I discovered at the festival was 15 Stars. The distillers were very nice and were generous with samples. This was my first KBF. I will definitely go again, your video along with a few others will definitely enhance mine and anyone else's experience should they attend.

Question for attendees. Was the trip worth it? I recognize the value proposition is subjective, but when I did the math (I'm in driving but not daytrip distance) I felt it didn't make sense. Seeing / hearing about long lines in this video tends to reinforce my decision.
@Despite372 ай бұрын
based off the videos it really doesn't look like it
@brecher2252 ай бұрын
I was wondering the exact same thing. It's an 8 hour drive for us.
@ItsBourbonNight2 ай бұрын
It depends on how you want to spend your time there. Some people value getting bottles and others getting bottles signed, while others value getting to taste as many things as they can. Of course most try to do a little bit of both. The long lines were mostly for buying bottles. There’s usually separate lines for tastings and bottle purchases.
@philipmartin92582 ай бұрын
We flew. Totally worth the trip. Lines weren’t bad unless you wanted to buy lhard to get bottles from Heaven Hill, Bardstown, or Makers. The craft distillery tents were great. No lines, interesting people, lots to taste. Also, since the festival opens at noon, we were able to work in distillery tours beforehand as well. Just a great time. I am thinking maybe going down a couple days early to do more of the bourbon trail before the festival next year.
@Despite372 ай бұрын
@@philipmartin9258 I may be biased, but since I have been to bardstown twice, I couldn't see wanting to make the trip just to jump around to a few booths at the festival. If you make a whole weekend of it with distillery tours then for sure probably more worth it. Also... lets be honest, I'd guess all the good bottles at heaven hill go to the VIP festival ticket holders that get in early.

Start with the Foundation Bourbon and then Seagrass rye and Vantage bourbon. Both the batch 36 bourbon and batch 4 rye are also excellent. The Mizunara is awesome and so is the new Ice Wine 🥃
