The way he learns song by ear is that he figures out a key note in the song and then figures the rest out from there. That's how good true musicians are. I played the piano and the clarinet, tenor sax, and baritone sax when I was in school, but sucked at everything. I'm just not a musician, even though I have a pretty good ear when I'm listening to music. And I'm an 80s Metalhead, still jamming at 49 years old. I wished I could play guitar or bass, but I'm the best air bassist this side of the Mississippi if you know what I'm saying. 🤣

Oh, The Dooo took lessons. He has been in music in a serious way for about fifteen years. But seriously he was born to be musical. The Dooo is a 'Faceless KZbinr', he has never actually shown his face on camera. He keeps it that way purposely. As for being real, check out any of his Omegle videos. He can learn stuff on the fly and it's no joke, he does it multiple times across his many videos. He also wrote some original guitar music and even sings on rare occasion. He has also done some of his stuff for charity. He did a three-hour shared video with Herman Li, the Guitarist of Dragonforce, for a charity event. They had never met each other before that day but Herman had reacted to The Dooo's stuff before that because The Dooo had even covered Through The Fire And Flames (arguably the biggest song that Dragonforce has done yet). The Dooo also does gaming videos. There's a very 'special' group of gamers he plays with on a regular basis. Those people are a BLAST even if they might be terrible gamers. They have either ADD, ADHD, OCD or some other affective problems and like any group of good friends, they pick on each other mercilessly while gaming (and mostly cause each other to lose). Their stuff is GOLDEN to watch. I am not sure how much of that you could react to without having problems but when you need a laugh, look these guys up. :)

This is a guy who as good relative pitch(not quite perfect) who has been playing guitar for like 16+ years at this point. I have good relative pitch and can usually pluck out melodies on a piano, but I have near zero training on a piano besides just messing around. So what you have is someone who is naturally talented with music with a ton of time spent learning the instrument.

When you're being amazed at his totally ad-hoc solo in Old Town Road, you have to think about guitar solos in general. Every time he improvises a song that he didn't know, he is literally making up awesome solos on the spot in every instance. He could literally add soul-stirring solos to any bands' songs. Literally, any song that doesn't have a solo in it now... for whatever reason... he could take that song and make up a solo for it instantly in real-time. If some band wanted to cut out a band member who wrote a solo for a song and they wanted to replace it with a new solo, he could give them that instantly.... AND... it would probably be far better than the solo they are replacing.

[Edit: Yeah You absolutely HAVE to check out other Videos from this Series on his Channel!! 😤 The REASON is simple, if don't know HOW Omegle actually 'works' or better, what you have to expect SEEING (and 'getting') there, then it's understandable, that his HUMOR and SARCASM wouldn't get through to you after only watched THIS Video from his channel! You also should know, (of course you could not know this beforehand), 1.TheDooo is doing this for almost a DECADE now! 2. on Omegle you see a lot of stuff that is in no way reasonable or .... 'NORMAL'... like people showing their Genitals, taking drugs and a lot of more Stupid stuff... 3. Besides the fact that even without saying one word and just by sitting in front of the camera - The Ugliness of us Humans is visible there sometimes as clear as Day. Now THINK like that for a moment: How would YOU feel/ what would you DO, if you had to endure something like this over and over again, until you got enough footage to make a +/- 10-minute video out of it, which is also presentable at the end and won't go AGAINST the Guidelines of YT & could be monetized? (from My personal experience as a Guitar Player and loving the sound of a Guitar in any way in Songs ^^) ....means if you... 1. don't have/ get/ find the right way to learn to play (bad Guitar teachers/ being TOO inpatient + having too high expectations...like expecting to be a advanced Guitar Player after only 2-3 Months...) 2. you don't practice the right way/ think you CAN play something because of a "1-Time-perfect-Playthrough" and moving on to the 'next level' etc (I'd personally only then Say I can play Song/ Riff/ Solo or whatever ...'good enough' if I also would be able to play it clean if someone was to wake me up in the middle of the night and demanding me to play a this or that right off the bat 😂 - only my personal opinion^^) In short there's nothing such as an unbelievable Astronomic amount of TALENT someone has...to get this good It's more year's of continues practice + a good portion of obsession for it + A ridiculous amount of discipline to never let practicing slide away + The Mindset and Motivation that is needed to keep on improving + Same as being motivated, you should have some goal which also should be not so small that you could achieve it in a few years (1-2). when you start learning your goal/ target should be almost IMPOSSIBLY far away from the viewpoint of someone who can't play at all etc - BUT you DEFINITELY have to Add ADDITIONALLY 'Milestones' for your "Journey" that way you'll see and can measure how you improve over time! And yeah thats the 'Secret' behind TALENT for the most part, but there are 2 MORE Things that'll determine the OUTCOME most of all: 1. It should not be 'just' a phase in your life every now and then, that you want to learn Play Guitar... It should be a thought process in you, that is almost UNAVOIDABLE... ... because you LOVE learning to Play itself that much, even if you can't get over something at some point because it's hard ag the moment etc... That even THAT is 'FUN' because you become automatically creative and try to find something that'll help you getting it done, right? 2. And Last but not least... (and THIS, in my opinion... Is the ONLY thing you could call somehow a 'TALENT' ... You need to have a good hearing considering the so called "Musical Ear/ Hearing" (Means like TheDooo knows WHAT to play when hearing a song/ Melody etc because of all the YEARS of constantly practicing he automatically KNOWS where on the Guitar are the notes notes that sound similar,, right? I discovered TheDooo when COVID lockdown forced me to find more "at-home" entertainment, so I've known about him for a wee bit over two years now. In that time, I've watched all his musical content and a smattering of his gaming vids, which is is very heavily involved with with his online gaming buds, The Goons. A bit of background on him then...he's never revealed his face. Only his online gaming buds and family and few friends know his identity. He's obviously a musical prodigy, and plays piano, ukulele, banjo, and the Otomatone, an odd Japanese novelty. Oh, and his sings too, though he's not what you'd consider a trained singer. He doesn't have a bad voice at all, and he could actually be very good if he bothered getting vocal lessons. The bulk of his musical content involves him going out on Omegle to play for people, much as this Halloween episode (hence the Scream themed outfit). His biggest hits have been his "But I Pretend I'm a Beginner" or "But I Pretend I'm a Girl" series. Those are both hilarious, and his comedic personality really shines through in those. But I'm going to suggest you listen to an actual song he and a couple other KZbinrs recently released first. It's straight up fire. In case you're wondering, I have no ties to TheDooo, I just understand the only way guys like him get promoted is through word-of-mouth, much as your initial discovery of him. The song is named after his favorite video series, "But I Pretend to Be a Beginner," and relates the challenges KZbinr content creators face. KZbinrs GBSN (Gibson) and John Silkie joined him. TheDooo only provides vocals on this, as does GBSN. TheDooo provides the clean vocals with occasional rasp, GBSN does some clean vocals and all screaming. People who don’t know music are always so baffled by Dooos ability to play a song after listening to it. When you know music theory it’s not that insane especially when he doesn’t really play them as they really are he finds the root and the basic chords but there might be variations and interily different rythm/strumming. He is an incredible guutarist that is very clear. But what he does is standard semi-pro/professional musician stuff. Especially with modern songs that are made with the same damn 4 chords
