but if the major tournament is held every month, it will lose its value as a reward. The Major is unique and valuable because in a year there are only two attempts to A) get into the main stage of the tournament and B) beat everyone in the playoffs and take the long-awaited trophy.

The rating numbers of 1.7 at IEM Katowice 2024 look scary. but I very much doubt that Donk will be able to maintain this same form throughout the days of the major. Therefore, the only thing I would advise is that you don’t need to build huge expectations, because if Donk can’t live up to them, then everyone will be sad about it, and he will receive a very large share of negativity and hate from those who were waiting to see his game. It seems to me that widespread hate can break him as a person.

I love the concept of Donk and his unwitting role as the new best player in the world. CS only gets BETTER from here. I believe his performance is going to light a fire under many players arses who’ve perhaps gotten comfortable with the established status quo and their own personal status. Eg, like Twistzz only really turning on when the stakes are high - if he played like the way he did when he broke Navi’s backs Or S1mple who has gotten so used to people calling him the goat that perhaps it really dulled his motivation. Time to kill multiple enemies with awp is way slower than if you’re spraying with Ak and are hitting domes. Ak definitely has the higher skill ceiling of the 2 weapons, awp is only infamous because if you can aim, you can kill anything on your screen. But now pro cs demands more than that.

It's almost unthinkable to see him continuing at this level, but even if he gets 'found out', he should still be a top player and possibly the best in the world. I think the scene will not only adapt to his style, but also simply adopt parts of it themselves. Donk's mechanics when taking fights are very unique and could inspire other players, and he is good at catching timings that are off-meta right now and therefore surprising. His skill obviously is difficult to replicate, but teams will be able to prepare better for him. It's also worth noting that for ZywOo, his breakout year was also arguably his best. Historically, a lot of aggressive entry players have also struggled more after their breakthrough, like YEKINDAR or arT-.

Mathematically speaking he will almost certainly decline, him putting up another 1.70 at a big event alone is already beating the odds. I won't discount the possibility as he's already raised the bar once but all teams looking to take on spirit are conducting a headhunt on his playstyle already I'd wager. Scary thing is that he has a buffer to decline and still be on top, even a 1.2 or 1.3 rating across an entire event is usually enough for a trophy and MVP honors and he seems eminently capable of delivering those numbers.

The reason People hate him and even some pros seem to dislike him is that he destroys the motion that CS2 is broken and inconsistent. I am sure you can teach what Donk does. He got to grow up watching pros it is a big advantage. I remember World of Warcraft PVP before and after youtube. Big brain plays that used to be rare become common after people learn watching KZbin. I played CS 1.4 and "camper" was a common term, someone waiting in their base/in a corner, it was derogatory. Everyone would rush and sort out the round in 30 seconds then for 4 minutes you were stuck watching a guy sit in a corner. Now that is considered normal. Competitive play made it necessary and everyone learned to do it. Minus replays and youtube and aim training maps you could spend years making mistakes that are easily corrected, now you can load up Donk gameplay and realize you need to pratice your spray/peeking and your teamwork. Also 17 is the age the average person's reflexes peak. Diet and exercise can stave that off. And pratice can help improve it but Donk is the right age to be at his best not an unlikely age.
