Have lived in China now for 17 years and still loving it. Here are my reasons. 1st Family - My wife is Chinese and other then visiting she has no intend to ever live in another country. 2nd - Security - Crime is almost non existing. Now that I am coming up on 60 I have to be more concern about having the strength to defend myself from thugs. And in China this is not a problem as violent crime is almost non existent. Woman can walk at night without any trouble, older people the same. Its very safe. 3rd Cost - Cost of living depends allot on where you live and what your live style is. But in general it is less then in the west. My biggest expense, the purchase of a apartment was done 2 years ago and I am planning to pay of the mortgage on my next birthday. There is no property tax so other then utilities and my monthly food cost I have then really no real bills. 4th Food - Love Chinese Food and those times I do want some western meals these are also available in Suzhou. 5th People - I would say that 99% of all people I have meet in China have been super friendly. Overall I can only recommend it, but of course you should learn some chinese as communication is important.

Living in China has one issue that allows people not to waste time picking side for different political parties. People in many other countries often subject to bickering of different political parties throwing mud at one and other, spreading rumors and jailing political opponents , suing them for inciting public unrest, attempting murder or assassination There is no long term planning for the masses in this kind of country and hence no national progress.Such countries practice cronyism.and rampant populism. China rapid economic and social growth achievements are based on serving the people as their political ideology by a single political party, practicing Communism, Capitalism , Socialism, Benevolent Authoritarianism all-in-one ideology which is quite akin to the traditional Chinese imperialism

Nan-Ning is a third-tier city, so cost of living is cheaper than other first-tier cities such as Beijing and Shanghai. Nevertheless, life in Na-Ning is more leisurely, less rushy, and one can enjoy retirement quite comfortably. 1. Guide the public to establish a positive attitude, study hard, work hard and make money hard. Then your life will improve. 2. Governments at all levels devote most of their energy to developing the economy and creating employment opportunities, so that everyone can see hope, opportunities and the possibility of class promotion. Naturally, the public will devote all their energy to proper work and entrepreneurship instead of spending it on crime, nor will they become lazy and lack of initiative. 3. The government will solve problems immediately once they are found. Where changes are needed, changes will be made immediately to improve management efficiency and social fairness as much as possible and reduce class contradictions and public dissatisfaction. 4. Improve the educational level of the whole people and popularize legal knowledge. Ignorant people are often more likely to commit crimes. 5. Establish the concept that crime prevention is greater than crime handling, and use high-tech means to prevent crime in advance (such as the Skynet system and the unified identification of ID cards by the public security system). 6. Adopt a zero-tolerance attitude towards criminal acts that cause great harm to society, such as drugs, human trafficking, terrorism, gun possession, etc. These are what China has done in recent decades to create a stable and harmonious society. None of them can be missing.

Yes you can get rich in China and be in the government (not a politician) as long as it's done legitimately. However being rich doesn't make you government material as it does in the West. Only those who prove over time that they are excellent managers and administrators and work for the benefit of the people make it into government. As a matter of fact a high percentage of government officials are engineers and doctors however being of those two professions is not necessary requirement for government service. It takes decades of government service and outstanding performance to make it to the top. It's a meritocracy not a popularity contest as in the West.
