I arrived in China shortly after President Xi became the new president. In the 8 years living there, I saw him take cues from Russia which eventually led him to become the new Little Emperor of China, eliminating all who stand in his way of dictatorship. I saw the writing on the wall with water and food issues, environmental disaster, and economic destruction, warning my Chinese friends and students. In 2022, I left China. My father called me home to take care of him and mom due to health reasons. I miss the people and the country that hosted me. I miss the thousands of students that I was able to help lead to brighter futures in and out of China. If it weren't for the Communist government, I would have returned. Instead, I fear for the added tragedies that will face the Chinese people, just as they have faced tragedies in the past.
