Those revolver mousetraps were actually usually loaded with blanks. When it’s set up that close, the force of the gun’s firing mechanism, even with blanks instead of regular bullets, is enough to basically like air-punch a hole in the mouse’s head.

I recommend his video on "Tarrare", the hungriest man in history, but all of em are very good, there arent rly any stinkers, so just pick whatever sounds best to you. And with the videos the rabbithole deepens and the Sam O´nella lore thickens. The guy spawned an entire stick figure animated trivia knowledge scene on youtube

Although the apparatus of the micrometer at 8:14 Sounds like a rather strange idea, it has served a lot when it comes to facial proportions and the correct application of makeup. What's more, the inventor of the device (the man who appears with glasses) was literally the person who coined the term “make-up”: Polish entrepreneur, cosmetologist and inventor Maksymilian Faktorowicz who would be known worldwide as Max Factor (1872-1938) becoming famous for creating specialty makeup products for moving pictures in early years of Hollywood in 1916.

The pistol is likely a .22. You can load them will all sorts of surprises like a special bullet called Rat Shot. Imagine a tiny shotgun, only the pellets are made out of plastic or glass. Curved barrels were most effective on pistol caliber weapons like SMG's they would curve a bullet around a corner and the chamber pressure just low enough for the bullet to be deformed but intact so most accuracy was lost as a trade off. It found some decent success used by tank crews to kill people crawling on top of their tank by poking it out of small gun ports and "sweeping" the roof.

Regarding the baby cage, basically when people didn't have a garden or balcony they'd attached a f-ing cage on their window so the baby could experience fresh air, it was literally see-through ON ALL SIDES lmao An other fun fact regarding babies in the US is that it was also possible at the time to send them across the country using the Postal Service xD

How many of us remember when floppy disks were actually floppy?
@midoi8161
@midoi8161 Жыл бұрын
yes putting babies in a cage (that hanged out of the window btw) was very common. when they changed a diper or if it wanted to play you'd just place them in the cage to either air them out or to know where they were most of the time. this stopped after a while, turns out babies can't survive falls at high elevations who would've thought. but it was very popular at one point.
@turtlepope7802
@turtlepope7802 Жыл бұрын
There are no recorded baby cage deaths, or even injuries. They were sturdy enough to easily handle the weight of a baby and then some. They just look very scary, and now we know there are no tangible medical benefits, but they're not dangerous design-wise. They kind of came back recently, but for cats. Catios, they call them.
@raymurray3401
@raymurray3401 Жыл бұрын
Honestly that actually surprises me I mean even though I know the reason their usage fell off was people realizing they didn’t need them. But the fact there no reported deaths or even injuries related to them is mind boggling to me considering how many people every year are injured or killed by improperly anchored window mounted A/C units.

I want to also put "SFDebris's: Hero's Journey" series on your radar if you've ever wanted to know what went into the making of Star Wars. I vividly remember using 3.5" disks, and even the 5.25" on the first computer I ever interacted with. Fun fact: floppy disks are called "stiffies" in South Africa.
